I like this place. The sushi is quality and the all day happy hour on Sunday is the best. The service however is awful. I called ahead for a large table and got there to nothing being ready. There is a specific waitress that ignores your requests. I asked for a fork for my daughter before her roll arrived and she never brought it. The roll came and I asked for a fork again and she still never brought it. I had to go to the bar and ask for one myself. The last time I went alone I had to flag someone down to get a refill of my water and received my soy sauce AFTER my sushi arrived. I’ll let it go that I asked for low sodium soy sauce and received regular soy sauce but I don’t think I should had needed to wait for it so long after receiving my food. I literally saw my waitress go and take another tables order, put it in and drop off drinks before bringing me soy sauce. The sushi places are slim pickings in the area so I’ll be back until I can find another place in the area with good sushi AND good service.

This location of Top Sushi is really beautiful. I love the dim lights, the fish tank, the bar area and the room they have designated for private parties(my favorite). Decided it was finally time to give this new location a try one week night, and I’m not sure if I liked it or not. The service was really good, almost too good. My waitress seemed a little overbearing at times and after I ordered(which wasn’t much), it was almost as if she was waiting for me to order more. And I felt bad because I really didn’t want rolls and rolls of sushi, I just ordered a miso soup, salad and two hand rolls. That was something that was a little odd to me. The food is good. I LOVED the soup and salad. Especially the soup, it was hot and had so much flavor. I’m definitely a fan. I also ordered two hand rolls — the spicy tuna and California roll and they were delicious! I also really love their plates. I think they’re so cute. Anyways, I’ve only tried the location located off of Westheimer and I fell in love with it. I do think this location has a lot to offer, but I wasn’t too impressed with my time there. I will say they’ve got a good happy hour and reverse happy hour(which is later in the night) that I like.

This place is down the street from my house. Surprisingly, this is a great sushi spot. I was surprised, because we are considered to be in the«suburbs». I’m used to the«great» sushi places to be located in Midtown or Downtown… I have always been treated with good customer service here. The rolls that we have eaten have been good and we really like the fried rice they have. I have not been disappointed with this little place…

Good service and a good dinning area. The sushi rolls I had eaten were good, wouldn’t by them for the normal price, but for happy hour I would go back and get them again.

Very good sushi! We tried several and all of them were fabulous. Nice set up. My only complaint would be how incredibly loud it is in there. I am ok with noise but when you have to constantly lean forward and repeat yourself to your table of friends, it gets old. My suggestion would be for the restaurant to easily put up noise absorbing panels.

Nice place, decent service. Our waitress forgot to bring out my friends egg rolls and forgot a few other stuff but another waiter took over and it was all good. Food was delicious. I got the hamachi kama and the scorpion. The scorpion looked cool but I wished that the soft shell crab was inside the roll as well instead of just edible decoration. The desert was amazing. The ice cream roll with pound cake and strawberries was delicious.

This place is delicious and one of the top sushi places in the area. Definitely a place to go if I am craving sushi and I don’t feel like driving all the way in town. However, the prices are a bit high, especially for it to be in Katy. Also, I called ahead to ask if there was patio seating and the person on the phone said yes, but when we got there there was just a table by the door of the shopping center…

We have really enjoyed the vibe at Top Sushi and the closeness to home. However, I have to say each visit has left us wishing the food and service were better. Tonight was our last visit to Top Sushi unfortunately. Hair in the sushi roll coupled with the sushi chefs drinking Corona’s while working speaks for itself! Back to Hikari we go!

This place is amazing. We wouldn’t go anywhere else. Service is AMAZING, Food is TOPNOTCH, and price is reasonable. Sushi isn’t the cheapest food around town, but their prices are good!

Let me start with this: don’t serve pink crappy ginger and charge $ 25 for a small sashimi sampler… Time to serve is ridiculous, 25 minutes for the pre-lunch salad to arrive is way too long. The food itself is. 3/5, nothing to love or hate about it. This place should be charging for what they serve, not for dimmed lights and a fancy fish tank. 30 minutes in I was told that«all the rest of my food was ready, but the baked mussels(appetizer) was going to take a little longer» If you are looking for value, or if you value your time and money, move along, this is not the place for you.

So this place is right down the street from my house. From all the stellar reviews I just knew I was in for a treat. Wow was I wrong. The restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful. It does not feel like you’re in a strip center once you’re inside. Wonderful date night place. In fact most of what I saw was couples. Service was really good. I was greeted the moment I walked in and handed a menu when I said I wanted an order to go. Mind you this is hardly a take out place. As I waited for my order the hostess offered me a drink. Now for the food. I ordered a bare beauty and and a super crunchy roll. Both were decent, neither was outstanding. Also got shrimp fried rice. Again decent but not outstanding. In fact the rice was rather dry. I’ve had better rolls from the Kroger sushi stands and didn’t lay out $ 30 for them. I might give this place another try when in able to sit and enjoy the place. You can’t ALL be wrong!

Tried Top Sushi based on previous reviews and was NOT disappointed. Definitely our new sushi spot. Tried Shaggy Dog, Rock & Roll, King Casper, and Hawaiian rolls(all cooked). Great friendly service, fast, very clean, and great night time ambiance.

Before I start a long, drawn out review, let me start off by introducing you to Top Sushi like this: –Happy Hour is Mon-Saturday 4 – 7 and again 9-close; ALLDAY on Sundays, includes $ 5 cocktails and HH menu with various food ollptions!!! Must I say more? Oh, so that’s not a enough? AMBIANCE: The ambiance is great for a night out with your significant other, friends or family. There is a drink bar area and also a separate sushi bar area with flat screen tvs. FOOD: The food is always fresh and very tasty. I can vouch for the Monkey Brains(appetizer). This is avocado GOODNESS stuffed with crab meat!!! You also must try shrimp and steak sushi, the Big Boy Country, and the fried rice!!! SERVICE: The customer service is great. When I’m there the employees are speaking from every direction. Several are stopping to make sure everything is ok. I love how the waiters/waitresses I’ve had are naturally personable and not doing it as a job. Their personalities are a great fit for the job. TOPSUSHI is TOPSUSHI!!!

We went here because Top Sushi sponsored my school’s(Dean Middle School) soccer team this past season. I’ve been meaning to try it, and my husband and I finally got to have a date night. It was fabulous. We had the monkey brains and the kickin’ mane for an appetizer. They were both delicious! We split 3 rolls– the Sea Dragon, the Hot Mama, and one I can’t remember, but it had tuna in it and was wrapped in cucumber slices. It was super fresh! All of the rolls were great, but my favorite was the Sea Dragon. Hubby liked the cucumber wrapped one the best. Oh… And he also had the seaweed salad. Everything was really good– from the décor, the service, the drinks and the food! We both agreed that since it was so close, we could see ourselves making weekly trips!

This Top Sushi is in a strip center and does not look like it would be all that great — but what a nice surprise when you walk inside. It has a modern décor inside which is very nice and sleek. Extremely clean and well organized looking. It has a great happy hour and a reverse happy hour that you must try. The first time we went they were slow. But all the other times we have gone they were not, so I think it was just a one time thing. Give them a try the sushi is fresh and not rubbery! The red bean ice cream is good too.

Summary– So far very good sushi and very good service. Food– 4 Stars They have a lot of imaginative rolls, some of them hit and some of them miss. Overall the fish itself I would give a B rating– good but not great. This place is clearly aimed at the ‘Murican consumer(tons and tons of roll selection, lot’s of sauces and crunchies used). Service– 5 Stars Attentive and friendly without being over bearing. Atmosphere– 4 Stars Nice if not a little out of place. I like the big fish tank. Value– 3 Stars They get you good for the specialty rolls. Drinks– Haven’t gotten there yet.

Not a bad sushi restaurant, but it could definitely use lots of improvement. Space: Walking in and was STUNNED, as this restaurant is beautifully designed on the inside. Located in a strip center, it doesn’t seem like much from the outside. Parking is shared with the other businesses, but I don’t see it getting filled to capacity. Nice bar when you enter, a fish tank, and a decent amount of seating. Came during HH, which was nice since they have 30% off most rolls, as well as drink & app specials. They also do a reverse happy hour and are open until at least 11 on most nights. Appetizers:Baked mussels here are a definite pass. They don’t clean the actual mussel off the shells, and leave the little anchor muscle part in. Pretty sure they just bake it in Japanese mayo, no sriracha, no smelt roe, not even a nice char on top. Just goopy clumps of heated up mayo and tons of water from the mussel. Jalapeño poppers were also just okay, the tempura batter definitely didnt cling to the jalepeno very well. Sushi Rolls: Usually don’t order many rolls since I prefer sashimi, but I figured I didn’t want to chance it in case the fish wasn’t super fresh. Orders the King Casper roll and the Fami-le roll. King Casper roll has cream cheese nestled inside a flash fried roll with salmon and topped with imitation crap. Probably my favorite thing that was eaten. Fami-le roll was shrimp tempura, with salmon and avocado on the outside, topped with tuna. Ehh. just okay. Volcano roll was ick. Literally just lumps of scallops with more japanese mayo. Now I know everyone has their variation of the Volcano roll, but generally spicy mayo is used, not just regular mayo. Too globby and definitely didn’t seem baked ATALL. Service: Really good service, but I imagine that’s because I came during a random time, and there were tons of people working. Gripes: Who charges extra for eel sauce? Sure, the waiter said it’d be extra, but NOONEDOESTHIS. I will definitely give them another try since it just opened and hopefully their food gets better.

As a first timer at Top sushi, I could not stop looking around the restaurant. Why? The first thing that I noticed was the interior design of this place. I LOVE the interior and the layout. As someone mentioned before, the interior really gives this place an upscale feel. The details of the interior walls, color, chandelier lighting, and the bar gives this a place a classy upscale vibe. I could not stop staring at the chandelier. Boyfriend and I ordered: Crispy calamari(appetizer), Tempura(appetizer), Volcano roll, D’s Top notch roll, and the Fried cheesecake. *I want to give them props for adding a section that notes«Cooked» items on the sushi roll menu. Most sushi joints don’t really specify the rolls being cooked or raw and expect you to know by the description of the rolls. Crispy Calamari: The calamari was served crispy with a dipping sauce that complimented the calamari.(5⁄5) Tempura(4⁄5): This fried dish is served fresh, hot, and of course crispy. It comes with a light soy sauce based dipping sauce. Just your average fried shrimp and veggies.(4⁄5) Volcano roll(3⁄5): I must say the presentation of this roll was not your normal volcano roll. Instead of the roll being topped with crab and spicy mayo, the roll was topped with scallop and crab inside the roll. The only flaw of this roll was that almost every roll piece I picked up with my chopstick it fell apart. It was a bit hard to eat this roll without the roll falling apart. With improvement, this roll can definitely be a 4⁄5. D’s Top notch: The presentation looked nice. Since I did not get to try this roll, I will not rate this roll. I would say for those who like salmon and scallop should order this roll. Fried Cheesecake(4⁄5): A slice of NY cheesecake is fried and served with slices of strawberries on the side. Nice presentation with the strawberries and the drizzle. It was nice to try this but it didn’t wow me. Food and service was a 4⁄5. Overall, I recommend people to check this place out when in the Barker cypress area!
