We strolled into Connie’s after walking around the square for a quick lunch. This is your classic sandwich shop, really no frills but set against a timeless coca cola soda fountain shop theme. I will say the best way to get service is to sit right at the counter if there are open stools. There were only three people working behind the counter on the Saturday that we visited and while they were pretty efficient at what they were doing, they routinely ignored people waiting to place a food order. We witnessed three different folks leave the restaurant without ordering after waiting over 5 minutes just to place an order and not having anyone acknowledge them. We sat directly down at the counter and were waited on pretty quickly. I had the patty melt which actually features ground beef instead of a patty and actually made for a better patty melt sandwich. It was quite good. My wife went with the veggie panini sandwich and she rather enjoyed it. We passed on the ice cream as it was just Edy’s and we can get that at any grocery store. I would have scored the restaurant with a four instead of three, but you can’t ignore the patrons. The restaurant still had open tables when I witnessed the multiple people leave out of frustration because they weren’t even acknowledged. It’s ok to be very busy, but at the very least, you need to acknowledge the potential patrons and not just ignore them. Especially in a family friendly sandwich joint.

Stopped here after visiting one of the nearby wineries with some friends. The line was very long, but I took that as a sign that this was a great place to grab a bite to eat and some ice cream – and it was. I ordered a turkey panini, which was good and filling. I also had a cake batter ice cream milkshake(yeah it was a «what diet?» kinda day), which was yummy. The staff was very polite, and that long line wasn’t bad at all because they had everyone in and out in no time. I’ll definitely visit again the next time I’m in Dahlonega!

We stopped in this afternoon for some ice cream. The inside has a traditional small town feel complete with a retro diner-style counter and bar stools. While they serve a variety of melts and sandwiches, the ice cream and milkshakes are certainly the main event. The product itself is Mayfield, not something locally churned, but the long line and little to no air conditioning made it taste pretty good once it was finally in my hands. I would say 3 stars, but 4 stars for the local charm.

Cute old fashioned soda shop that’s probably best for a ice cream float or sundae. I got a cheese burger with soggy bacon and they where out of onion. No biggy. Not bad but nothing great. Service is fast and friendly.

Love this place. Good service and great prices. Plus you can get lots more than just ice cream.

My friends and I stopped into Connie’s for an ice cream cone before we meandered around the square in Dahlonega. They had a super-extensive selection of ice creams, and I love the old-fashioned feel of the place. They have the kind of cases I remember from Baskin-Robbins in my youth, where you can look through the glass and see the giant cylinders of every flavor you can imagine. The service is friendly and charming and about as Southern as it gets. I had a waffle cone with chocolate overload moose tracks(or something along those lines) that was so deliciously chocolatey that I literally wanted to weep for joy. Bottom line: friendly, inexpensive, delicious ice cream. Why aren’t you already getting a scoop?

A reliable lunch and ice cream counter in an old fashion room with high ceilings. Coke memoriabilia. Connie and her husband always have a smile and kind word to serve up as well. Perfect employment for college kids and some of the nicest work there. Salads, tuna or chicken, could be advertised as home made but are they?

I’ve been here several times, had there sandwiches, but you know the sundaes are great! I’ve ordered a Banana Split, I was able to pick 3 ice creams, blueberry, butter pecan and moose track, they told me that it comes with Strawberries and Pineapples and chocolate fudge with 3 dry toppings… mmmm but you know they didn’t have Strawberries and Pineapple… :-(SO I had settle with coconut and caramel… at least they had bananas.

Popped in here twice, 2 days in a row for our afternoon dessert break and they serve incredibly generous scoops of Mayfield ice cream. Yumm-o.

Connie’s is a charming little sandwich/ice cream shop on the town square of Dahlonega. The girls who work there should all audition to be on «The Bachelor.» Blonde, soft facial features, speak to customers sweetly with«y’all» and«ma’am» and«sir.» They don’t yell, they don’t look like they hate their jobs or the customers or anyone really. They politely address the regulars with«How have you been?» and efficiently take orders and bring you your food. No one is over 22, from what I can see. So Producers of the Bachelor, here is your chance to fill your quota on the southern belles for the next season! Guaranteed at least one of them will be sweet enough to last until the final round, where the 35 year old banker/rich older Bachelor will be moved to tears by her innocence, family value, and idolizing, devotion-filled blue eyes. When I wasn’t imagining this scenario in my head, I did enjoy their turkey cheese panini. And their potato salad.
