American Family Video

I just recently moved back to Dallas and started going back to American Family Video. I have rented 5 movies in the past month and every single one has skipped. My husband and I are just really disappointed every time we put the movie in, it skips or glitches.
I enjoy going into the store and the employees have all been kind and I understand that DVD’s get old and scratched, but it is frustrating that all five have given us issues. They were new, old, and different genres.
My husband asked the employee to clean our disc before we rented it and they did with no issue, yet in the middle of Star Wars V, I don’t get to hear Darth Vader claim he is Luke’s father! and I missed scenes with Yoda!
I want to support a local business and the store and employees are just fine, prices are fair as all video stores, but the product is apparently not good. I have better luck with Redbox movies, unfortunately.

I have been to American Family Video a half dozen times over the last year and have experienced the lowest possible level of service each time.
From negative interactions with the staff to issues with their record keeping (leading to a fee that I ended up paying twice), this is not a customer-​friendly establishment.
Tonight, they would not allow me to rent a movie on my wife’s account (which I have done many times in the past) citing the fact that I have my own account (which I have requested be cancelled without success in the past). The staff member showed me the note that was left by a manager on the same date that I had a less than stellar interaction with him (presumably to punish me for my «bad behavior»)
The manager cannot be reasoned with, and his attitude is reflected in many of the staff members as well. I feel strongly, that whenever possible, local businesses should be supported. I however, will no longer support them with my dollar.

American Family Video in Dallas is probability the last non-​block buster in Oregon. They have massive sections of new and old movies. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about the movies. The rental rate is lower than most chain stores and the late fee are about the same. This place has games for rent for almost every game console ever made. Very nice place to rent from; people you can treat and services that will leave you happy.
