History

Established in 1994.

Jim and Cindy Hughes were a young couple living in Omaha, Nebraska. In the early 1990’s these newly-weds wanted to be closer to family and headed south to Dallas. While they were packing up to start a new life, a friend of theirs who owned a restaurant in Omaha called Bread Winners and was closing down his concept. They loved the name and bought it from their friend for $ 1.00 with the intent of one day opening one of their own Bread Winners concept in Big D.

Once in Dallas, they fell in love with a quirky building in Uptown that was for sale and renovated it themselves. That first year, Bread Winners just served breakfast and lunch. Word quickly spread and soon dinner service was launched. Catering was then added a few years later due to the increasing demand. Today Bread Winners manages over 600 employees, runs 4 locations, operates a corporate catering service and has added the Quarter Bar and Henry’s Majestic in Uptown to round out their portfolio.
