Food was very fresh and the place was very clean. I like how I can see everything that goes on behind the counter. Service was helpful and the burrito was delicious.

Has potential, but something was way too salty. I think it may have been the rice. I got a burrito bowl with chicken and green salsa. Way too salty!!!

Pretty much like chipotle but a little different. .does that even make sense? For this review, i was there for breakfast… i ordered a large burrito and they make the eggs to order… so you ask for eggs and bacon, they make the scrambled eggs fresh w/bacon. I added beans to mine and the lady was kind enough to drain the beans so i didn’t have a soaked burrito. Nice size burrito… filled me up. Reason i didn’t give more stars is cuz it seemed like expensive for the size of the burrito. I’m used to paying $ 5 for a hearty breakfast burrito… this place was like $ 7 out the door… two bucks is worth a star. But I’ll go back — on payday.

Got there as they opened for lunch. The good is also the bad. This is a no-frills burrito place. I found the meat and rice bland, but the cheese and toppings good. Jalepenos were great. Downside? Meal didn’t come with chips. It was $ 8 and change for a burrtio with guac. The burrito also came apart(which is not fun). I’d say if you want a burrito, this is pretty safe. The sauces(which I didn’t try) looked interesting. If you found a flavor combination that you enjoy I could see regulars coming back. I may drift back next year. but for now. I’ll keep looking. If you are used to a more commercial place(Moe’s, Willies, Chipotle) then you are in for a shock. This is more mom $ pop.

I was in the mood for Mexican and I saw this place in the Unilocal app. I love burritos and I like Freebirds and Chipotle equally but for different reasons. Unfortunately, Burrito Jimmy doesn’t quite stack up. I got a bowl with a wheat tortilla on the side. The rice choices were spanish or white. I got spanish because I thought it’d have some flavor and the white looked really plain. Well, the spanish rice turned out to be very plain and lacking flavor; it was basically orange-colored white rice. I got peppers and onions, which were very good and similar to Chipotle. For the meat, I got steak which is my usual go-to, but it ended up lacking flavor. At Freebirds, I love that their steak has a charred/grill flavor. At Chipotle, I love that their steak has a really good marinated grilled flavor. This steak, however, tasted bland with a hint of pepper, almost like beef jerky. I liked the cheese selection as they offered cheddar and monterrey jack like Freebirds. The vegetables seemed fresh, although they were a bit stingy with the servings. I love spicy, red salsas on my burritos. The only spicy sauce they had was a green sauce, so I got a mild red sauce since I don’t like green sauces. The sauce didn’t taste very good – didn’t even taste like salsa. It leaned more towards tomatoes and spaghetti than it did salsa. Needless to say, the entire bowl, while filling, lacked flavor. It seemed like nothing had flavor – rice, meat, and salsa were all very bland. It was comparable in price to Chipotle and Freebirds, so I’d rather go to one of those spots where I know I’ll get a good tasting meal. I really wanted to like Burrito Jimmy because of its proximity to work, but I don’t think I’ll be back.

smothered is da bomb! Much like Qdoba, Freebirds, etc. I got mine smothered which means swimming in a yummy queso sauce. You can also skip the queso and get it wrapped in foil. I like that they have a smaller option which was perfect for my lunch. They are only open until 3.

Having spent a good portion of my younger years in Colorado, I’m admittedly a Chipotle guy from top down. That having been said, I’ve always been a bit peeved that they haven’t taken the plunge into the breakfast world(outside of a failed attempt at Dulles airport in DC). When I heard that Burrito Jimmy was essentially a Freebirds-esk take on Chipotle that served breakfast burritos? I really had no choice but to check it out. Star 1: How was the service and atmosphere? Burrito Jimmy really embodies what is a fast-casual take over in full swing. From the metallic contemporary feel to the open-air kitchen, the atmosphere is comfortable enough for a casual stay but equally geared towards a quick in and out. The service is quick and friendly, and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Star Granted. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? One of the great things about breakfast burritos is that they’re so simple. Tortilla, eggs, potatoes, a breakfast meat, sauce. You’re done. With such simple ingredients, you’d think they’d be cheap yeah? Luckily, they often are, but Burrito Jimmy is trying to up the anti a bit it would seem. $ 6.49? Guys, let’s chill for a minute yeah? There’s no way I should be paying over $ 5 for a breakfast burrito unless we’re talking cream of the crop gourmet ingredients here. While this was a huge burrito(very much Chipotle-esk), I simply can’t justify a $ 6.49 price tag. No Star Granted. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? One of the really great things about Chipotle is that everything is being done fresh in front of you. They’re cooking up chickens, dicing up lettuce and shredding cheese. For $ 6.49, I was expecting something similar from Burrito Jimmy, and was a bit disappointed to see pre-cooked sausage being thrown back on the grill and previously frozen fried tater tots diced up as «potatoes» for my burrito. really? I’m at a burrito joint, not sodexho. So while it wasn’t the crème de le crème of ingredients, my burrito was very good, and the blend of queso and hot verde sauce was a real treat. Single Star Granted. Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could? You know, I simply can’t say that I would. This is a competitive market especially in Dallas, so when I’m paying as much for a breakfast burrito as I did at Burrito Jimmy? I’m expecting some real gems in the quality department. That’s not exactly what I received, and while I enjoyed the meal, Burrito Jimmy simply hovers around mid-range as far as my burrito preferences go. No Star Granted.

This place is awesome. Just like the other reviews said, it like Chipotle, but my opinion much better. There are much more options than Chipotle(tortilla, sauces, queso, veggies to put inside) and they steam the burrito before they put the toppings inside, so everything is melted together. I got a chicken burrito with spanish rice, jalapenos, zucchini, green pepper, lettuce, salsa ranch, and then smothered with queso and red salsa. You have to eat it with a fork, but its incredible. I went to the new downtown Dallas location, and the atmosphere is obviously nothing special, but it was quick, delicious and cheap. I think I spent under $ 9 for a fully loaded burrito and a large drink. All in all this tops Chipotle, Freebirds and Qdoba in my opinion. Well done Jimmy. My only wish is that they had more hot sauces to choose from. Tabasco on a burrito is weak, give me some Cholula or Tapatio.

Found Burrito Jimmy while heading to Pappy’s for lunch. It’s right next door on Mockingbird(just East of 35). Think if it as a no-nonsense Chipotle. You get in line — you pick your tortilla, you pick your meat, you specify if you want it wrapped or «smothered», you built it with the add-ons you want, you pay, you get a drink, you sit, you eat and you burp. Pretty straight-forward stuff here folks. The tortilla-options run the gamut of flour, wheat, spinach, jalepeno and possibly more. The BONUS here though — they have Large or Small. = JOY!!! Meat options go from chicken, brisket, pulled pork, steak and possibly some other stuff(if it didn’t interest me, I didn’t make note of it). Veggies are Pinto or Black beans, White or Brown rice, roasted peppers, roasted onions. Fixin’s are typical(pico, onions, peppers, jalepenos, cilantro, scallions(green onion). Cheese options included cheddar or pepper-jack After you stuff it with the meat and cheese and rice/beans, they throw it in a steamer which melts the cheese and softens the burrito. +2! Now…on to smothering. Smothered means they cover it in a sauce. Options(that I remember) included a red salsa(mild), green tomatillo(medium) a white mushroom sauce and queso. On my visit I opted for half green, half queso. While not the most visually appealing adornments, it tasted fantastic and had enough saturation so that each bite got a taste. Definitely a great compliment to the burrito. +10 My base-burrito was jalepeno tortilla with brisket, white rice, some black beans and jack cheese. Veg included peppers and onions(roasted), pico and scallions. I got the Large size and the cost was 7 bucks. The unit overall was as large what you find at Chipotle/Freebirds but the service was faster and the smiles were bigger. Great place for lunch or a quick bite to grab on the run. Extra bonus for being on a busy road with maniac drivers and idiots texting. We had the fortune to see a wreck out front which only added to the ambiance.
