One of my favorite studios in town! The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. The classes are small so you get an intimate experience. The instructors are excellent at showing modifications for each exercise if you have an injury or just wiped out during the workout.
Pipeline and Circuits are two of my favorite classes. Pipeline is targets specific muscle groups and high reps using body weight, and Circuits is a full body HIIT/​Tabata style workout.
Disclaimer: Lauren McHenry will kick your butt. Every class of hers I take I think to myself «She is crazy», but her classes always leave me sore for days! (currently sore as I type this review). She knows what she’s doing.

City Surf workouts are my absolute favorite. They challenge you in a way that’s hard to find anywhere else because of the unique experience you get with the board. I’ve been coming here for a month and already have noticed a difference in my strength and balance! Everyone is super friendly — the staff and the fellow surfers. They offer 6 different classes — the only two I haven’t been to are the pipeline and circuits. But the other four are always engaging and fun! Check this place out of you haven’t yet, it will keep you wanting more.

City Surf Fitness is an amazing fitness concept. Who wouldn’t want to have some fun on surfboards while getting a good workout? The surfboards are strapped to some balance balls. Balancing on the board is actually a lot harder than it looks. In fact, there were actually a few people who used yoga mats at the back of the room instead because balancing and yoga on the board was too difficult for them.
The studio itself was a lot smaller than I expected and actually only consists of one main room and the restroom. There’s about 10 total surfboards in the studios and lockers for people to store their belongings. They even have towels for people to use. I love the painting and writings on the walls, especially the giant blue whale. One thing I did notice though was that the studio was extremely hot because the doors and windows were open and one of the fans was off.
My first class was the Buddha board (taught by Aleena), which is a yoga class on the surfboard. The Buddha board class was actually a lot more fun than regular yoga and I thought it was perfect for a first timer to the studio. Aleena was very nice and her pace was perfect and I’m glad that she was the instructor because I’ve heard that Britt’s is very fast paced and difficult even for people who have been attending CSF for a while. I definitely sweat a lot during the class as it wasn’t walk in the park, but I know I got a really good work out! I actually coupled it with an hour long regular yoga class at another studio to get the best work out for my body.
You should definitely check out City Surf Fitness if you are interested because it’s such a unique studio. Classes are $ 20 each. They seem to fill up pretty quickly, but if you cannot get in one there is a wait list. You are required to cancel at least 10 hours before the class in order to get your money credited for a future class. If you cancel within the 10 – 2 hour time frame then you get charged $ 10. If you cancel within 2 hours of the class or you no show then you get charged $ 20. You will also need grippy Pilates socks for the boards.

This place has become one of my favorite fitness studios in Dallas. I’ve tried three different classes so far: Buddha Board, Beach Body Bootcamp and City Surf Circuits.
My favorite class is City Surf Circuits. The instructor Catherine is professional, friendly and energetic. She offers modifications and adjustments for each station and makes everyone laugh. Circuit training is a tough workout by itself, and the surfboard adds another challenging balancing element. Both times I’ve taken this class I’ve left dripping sweat and satisfied with my workout.
I also really enjoyed Beach Body Bootcamp, which involved more plyometrics and cardio. Most of the exercises were done off the board, but some balance was thrown in.
I was a little disappointed by Buddha Board, as I felt it was just a weak yoga class on a surfboard, but maybe I’ll give it another shot.
I’d definitely recommend this place to anyone who craves variety in their workouts. I can’t wait until the Deep Ellum location opens!

First impressions mean a lot to me and unfortunately, my fist impressions weren’t that great. I found the studio to be very dirty and smelly — not so much of a «gym» smell, but more like a wet dog.
My class (Pipeline) was performed barefoot and I felt the need to dust my feet off every time I stepped on the ground because of the gritty particles they would collect. A quick glance around the room and I could tell it had been a while since it had been swept and cleaned thoroughly. The surf boards used during the workout had dirt in the small crevices which was pretty gross considering your face can be parallel to it at times.
Aside from the smell and lack of cleanliness, the workout was intense in the best way possible! My instructor, Lauren, was very knowledgeable and pushed us to failure which is exactly what you want in a barre class!
Give the place a good scrub, take a swifter to the floor, add a few scented plug-​ins and I’ll gladly give you 5 stars! Being new to CSF and the whole surf board-​workout concept, it took some getting used to, but it was challenging and really really fun!

Awesome! I just tried the 6 am bootcamp class this morning and I loved it! The instability of the board makes this such a good workout (I definitely felt it in my core)! Very fun way to mix up your workout routine. I look forward to trying out the other classes they have to offer!

City Surf is by far my favorite gym. Love the diversity of classes. Even if you go to the same instructor or type of class week after week, each class will be unique and challenging. Circuits and pipeline are my favorite classes!

Been meaning to try this class for awhile! Glad I finally did! The studio was smaller than expected, but I did like how small the class size was. I think they have 10 boards in there. A girlfriend and I tried a Monday class at 12:30pm. Not crowded at all and had no trouble signing up.
The class was awesome and super fun! Mitch was a great instructor and kept it real high energy the whole time. He was helpful and made adjustments to form when needed. We moved from cardio, abdominal to strength training work-​outs. Loved all the dynamic and full body movements. Beats pilates refromers hands down and more affordable too.
As a surfer myself (when I lived in Cali), this class def feels like and brings the dynamic movements a surfer may need to stengthen and train to use in the water. I worked up quite the sweat! Also loved loved the music as well. Can’t wait to sign-​up for more classes in the near future. This would be the perfect mesh for my work-​out plan during the week between running, weight training and yoga. Thanks City Surf Fitness :) Great concept!

I have been wanting to try out City Surf for a few months now and finally made it in last night for the 30 minute City Surf class. I have to say that I am already hooked. The class was fun, engaging and challenging all at the same time. There were a couple moves that were harder than others, especially when having to try to balance on the board but I think that you get better the more you go. Mitch our instructor was very helpful and encouraging and made me feel good about coming back. I really needed a new work out routine and I think I found it with City Surf. Can’t wait till my next visit!

City Surf Fitness is a fantastic workout. The prices are great and the staff is super accommodating. I run, play soccer, and practice Bikram yoga, and City Surf is the perfect complement to these activities. I’ve been doing CSF for one month (I signed up for the monthly unlimited class package after my trial week) and I’ve noticed such a huge difference in my strength and muscle endurance. I’m feeling much more toned as well. This is a great workout if you’re looking for an alternative to the gym and/​or weight-​lifting. It’s just super fun, and it’s the hardest workout I’ve done since high school sports! :)

What a fun workout! We attended the Lunch Crunch at 11am and had a blast… It’s a very unique workout and you should definitely check it out!
