Craft and Growler

Very cool place for craft beers. You can fill your growler to go or stay and have a nice flight from the great variety of beers on tap. Loved the atmosphere.

cool place, good beer selection, reasonable prices. the only problem was the bartenders (?). i was there with a friend for over two hours and never saw either of them smile at anyone. i don’t need everyone to be nice to me, but not nice to anyone is different. bottle selection was good. went on a sat night and was pleasantly surprised at how many seats were available.
Will go again and hopefully get service with a smile so that i can update to a 5.

It’s a great place. I’m not going to say you won’t find beer you hate here, but I am certain that you’ll find at least one you love. Thier selection, of course, is epic. Thier service is friendly and fairly quick. The atmosphere relaxed. It’s a versatile place that can make for a great date spot, a place to unwind with friends, or it could even make a good spot for being anti social and working. No food so don’t come hungry. You can get something nearby, though.
So yeah, I had a terrible beer there. The brewery rep was there and swore it was a great IPA. It was called, and get this, «Pour Some Sugar On Me.» and here’s the thing, it really was a great IPA. The only problem is that it’s a great IPA for people that hate IPAs. They basically neutered the point I wouldn’t have recognized it as an IPA at all. Moral of the story, if the rep asks to buy you a beer, have a taste first. I felt so bad for the guy, but I couldn’t finish it. At least it was free so why am I complaining — well because I like the story.
Definitely go there and drink yummy beer.

A great local growler with tons of beer selection! Located right across Fair park, we decided to stop by here after the state fair. I loved the atmosphere of the place and the different bottles they had on display. If you love beer, this is a great place to check out. There were plenty of beers I’ve never even heard of! I was a little sad they didn’t have more wheat beer options on draft besides revolver blood and honey. They have more ales and cider so at least you can probably find something. Overall, I enjoyed my time here!

Despite being called a bitch from time to time, I am, in fact, a sophisticated lady. And while many assume «ladies» only partake in frou-​frou cocktails utilizing top shelf spirits, I have been known to enjoy beer. And anytime I have a hankering for some good ol’ Texas craft beer, I often find myself wandering over to Craft and Grrrrrowler to quench my thirst. Their beer lineup is solid, if not exceptional, particularly focused on regional breweries. They offer both full pours and smaller samples, including flights. And of course growler fills are their specialty.
Craft and Growler is in a bit of an up-​and-​coming area, and cool places like C&G are helping to spur that change. Unfortunately, in the meantime, I usually have to make a special trip to get there, as there isn’t much else nearby. The venue itself feels a bit like a bar meets trendy coffee shop… laid-​back and casual. They even have couches for people that need something soft to sit on.
And as you know, dog-​friendly locations always get a special shout-​out in my reviews. Oh, and the selection of non-​alcoholic doggy beer for less-​sophisticated palates is an especially thoughtful offering.
A nice mix of regional and out-​of-​state taps for on-​site drinking, growlers to-​go, and a respectable collection of bottles makes this a go-​to destination when I have visitors from out of town and want to show off our local beer scene.

Great tap room next to the fair ground by downtown Dallas. 40+ craft beers on tap, mostly local Texas beer with a good selections of beer from outside of Texas as well. There are plenty of seating and they also sell unique growlers and bombers. Often host events that you can find on their Facebook page and can also check out their latest tap list on the homepage. Yay beer!

I’ve had a crush on Craft and Growler for awhile, but when I went recently it was like the first time I saw her without makeup on. I’m still crazy about this place, don’t get me wrong, but maybe the honeymoon phase is wearing off (or maybe just an off night). A solid chunk of the massive list of 43ish drafts are perennials, local beers that make me proud of our city’s beer scene. The rest is where the variety comes in, and when I went about a week ago it was just very skewed towards either IPA or heavy/​darks (which I’m generally fine with, but I have different moods and also friends who haven’t learned to like such beginner-​unfriendly tastes). Maybe my taste buds were just off that night, but of the 3 beers I got and the sips of around a dozen different beers that my friends got, I only found maybe a few that tasted good (and a couple that were actually kind of terrible).
Although this wasn’t the best experience, it is FAR from bad enough to deter me from coming back because I really do like this place. It’s never crazy packed, but I’ve never seen it empty either. It’s not in a busy neighborhood but also not hard to get to. The interior is very spacious with plenty of seating. And the beers… It’s gotta to be the best quality for your money. The local beers they have that are easy to find elsewhere tend ot be $ 1 or $ 2 cheaper here than at other places. Also, as everyone else mentions, the flights aren’t any less a bargain than a regular beer, unlike other places who charge you more for not «buying in bulk». Speaking of buying in bulk, I can’t imagine how special this place would be to me if I was into growlers. One downside is that they close at midnight, but I guess all good things must come to an end.

It’s a great place to go if you’re looking to explore new beers. They have something in the ballpark of 45 different options, and if you really want to explore, you can try a flight of four for ten bucks.
Also, a fitting spot to take a friend who is visiting from outside of Texas, since the beers are all local/​regional.
Has a comfortable, chill atmosphere. To me, it feels like the mix between a Starbucks and a bar. (Similar vibe and their selection of growlers and growler accessories is analogous to Starbucks’ selection of coffee mugs/​tumblers…)

If you love beer, go. If you don’t love beer, still go. This place may change your mind.

Over 30+ quality beers on tap. The selection is excellent, and I always walk away from this place with a new beer crush.
The prices are very fair. Get a flight to maximize your opportunity to try something new.
The relaxed atmosphere and open seating make for a nice environment. There are a number of people setting up shop just to read a book or do something on a MacBook that looks scholarly.

My first time getting a chance to grab a drink here, and was thoroughly impressed.
Awesome, selection of beer ranging from local Dallas brew, and some other good hard to find Texas made brew, and plenty of solid choices from around the nation.
More impressingly was the price point of some selections.
Really good crowd and diverse group of patrons for a Wed night.
Brooklyn Brewery was in the house that need with some free swag, but some solid tap selection including solid Quad.

Great place, crappy area (a little ghetto). Free parking. Would def. recommend coming here if in the big D. Oh and I learned they don’t care who’s growler you bring in. They will fill it

Love this place — if you’re a craft beer fan, you’ll love it too.
For what they do, I don’t see how you do it much better. Terrific selection of craft beers (42 I think?) — mostly from Texas, mostly local, but they mix in other excellent stuff from time to time.
Flights (4 smaller beers) are available so you can try some new beers and/​or get your bearing as to what you like. Bartenders really know their stuff, are helpful, and fun to chat with. If you find something you want more of later, have them fill a growler for you to take home.
Atmosphere is super relaxed/​laid back. Always seem to find a good/​fun crowd in attendance.
Beware they’re a small family business and so they’ll close up shop a bit more than most places (over the holidays, etc) — and they shut down throughout the State Fair this year due to issues with parking the previous year.
Only possible improvement I can think of… I love the focus on doing one thing right (beer!), but it is common that we end up leaving because we get hungry. Wish they had something more than pretzels to snack on. I’ve heard they have food trucks at times but have yet to see one there. You can order and have it delivered but that’s usually overkill for what we’re looking for.

I’m in love with this place! They have a huge selection of GOOD dark craft beers on tap, and are more than happy to make recommendations based on what you’re having or prefer. I recommend buying one of their entry level growlers and bringing a few pints home, because the prices are pretty damn cheap.
You’re really doing yourself a disservice if you’re a craft beer fan and haven’t been here.

Huge beer selection, constantly rotating, with good descriptions of all the beers.
Pretty much everything is available in samplers, so you can actually try a bunch of them in one sitting.
Big open space, rarely crowded.
Oh, and they sell and fill growlers to go.

Little slice of beer heaven in Dallas and I couldn’t be happier. I’ve missed good beer from living on east and west coast and now it’s finally come to my hometown. Praise the lord! 42 beers on tap and almost as many different growlers to pick from. It’s seriously a beer lovers nirvana!

It’s hard to go wrong with such an extensive beer list. There’s something for everyone, and on my visit my friends and I all got flights, so we were able to sample a lot of the menu. The place is big, with long communal tables, we were able to sit on our own on our visit, but I could see having to get cozy with strangers if the place is crowded. I was also incredibly impressed with the amount of growlers and growler accessories they had for sale. If I had had room in my suitcase, I would have taken something back with me.

Has a large selection of beer, but not my favorite selection. They do have a range of local beers (Deep Ellum, Peticolas) as well as other great craft breweries (dogfish head, stone). Pints start at $ 4 and go up to $ 8, which is a very decent price. You can also get a flight of 4 for $ 10. They also have a mini shop where you can buy bottles to go and growlers of all sizes. I got myself 1L growler with a swing top for $ 6, which is not too shabby! A great place to get your growler filled, I recommend going on their site to see what beers they have on tap first.

I came on a Wednesday night and it didn’t seem too busy, but I guess it was since the customer service was lacking. I was sitting at the bar and it wasn’t filled up or anything, but it would take us forever to get the attention of one the bartenders. It wasn’t terrible customer service, it was just very minimal. They were friendly, but I just wished they had more enthusiasm and more willing to engage in conversation!

Casual, laid-​back. It was pretty lively for a wednesday night!

I am late to the Craft and Growler bandwagon, but I happily hop on for the ride. The place offers forty to fifty craft beer taps, many from local and regional breweries. One quick peruse through the list shows that there is an insane level of beer knowledge curating the list. Truly remarkable.
I recommend getting a flight. It is an inexpensive way ($ 10) to sample their list without committing to a full pint of something you may not like. They will sample for you, also.
Growlers (ok, I admit I did not know the term until I visited) are bottles of varying sized and shapes, and they are meant for carry out. They purchase the bottles from various vendors in limited quantities, and you are encouraged to bring them back for refills. The concept is cool. Pick out a bottle, have a pint of something you like and have your Growler filled up for the road.
There is an old time, rustic feel to the place. Wooden long tables for communal seating. There is no kitchen, but nearly everyone gets carry out pizza from the nearby Exposition Pizza. Outside food is welcome here. A good pie and cold craft beer. How can you go wrong?
The one criticism I have is a crotchety old man gripe. The place gets really loud. Go on a week night and enjoy an amazing beer in a casual setting. Fill up your bottle and take some home for later.

After having been fairly disappointed with the Dallas craft beer scene/​selection out and about, I finally got away from our hosts friends in uptown and cruised down to this gem. I would easily put this up with the best of the Houston craft bars, and was quite impressed with their draft system, which I discovered was proprietary to the bar.
They had a good mix of beers on tap, and I got to try a bunch of Dallas breweries we don’t get in Houston, so cool experience all around. I’ll definitely be back when I’m in Dallas!
