I have been going to this for the past 3 years, ever since they moved it to the Dallas Convention Center. I have heard that prior to the move it was not very well run, but I can tell you that it is absolutely fantastic now! My costume has 3 layers and I have never felt too warm even after hours of walking around. The costumes that people make are always amazing, and the vendors have an excellent selection. If you get the chance you can buy a ticket the day of at the center(they have yet to sell out). They host it the first weekend of every June, and if you get the chance hit the steampunk shops, they have an amazing selection!

Disorganization is the order of the day at Dallas Comic Con. I used to do event planning and I was shocked that a convention this large would have such poor signage, bad communication, and volunteers who stood around doing nothing because they had no idea what to do. We missed out on several things we wanted to do because they had messed up the schedule so badly and didn’t communicate to us that we could go do other things and come back for the photo ops. Most of the other attendees in line with us expressed the same opinions. The photo ops were fun but some were so rushed that the celebrity didn’t even have the chance to smile before the picture was taken. It left me disappointed and wondering why I paid that much money for a photo like that. We had a couple of fun photo ops and enjoyed the Nathan Fillion/Alan Tudyk panel, but all-in-all it was a huge expense for very little payout. Unless they bring in a really fun celebrity or a dynamite panel, I doubt I’ll attend again.

I had a fantastic time at the Dallas Comic Con/Fan Expo!!! Many good vendors for shopping, very personal feel to the event with the ability to get up-close and personal with your favorite actors, authors etc. The Q & A sessions were laid back and intimate, the costumes, from employees to fans, were very cool! I even noticed the guys from the upcoming«Monochrome» movie were there with a booth. I have only two suggestion for future Comic Con events: PLEASE better mark/display the booth numbers for all the shopping booths/vendors, either on the floor or on overhead banners or poles. It was very hard to find booths etc. Also, please provide very large«YOUAREHERE» maps throughout the facility. The convention center is very large and difficult to find your way around without a good map. especially if you didn’t pick up the event booklet.

This was the first year at the Kay Hutchinson center and I have to say it was better than previous years. There was much more space and somewhat of a better layout. The major panels were in the large arena which allowed for stadium style seating for non premium and VIP pass holders. VIP and premium had seating available on the floor. For Stan Lee and Ming Na we were able to get 2nd row seats. I’m never going to stand in line to get an autograph or a photo, or at least there’s never been someone coming to these events that I would do that for. The prices are pretty outrageous and the lines are insane. 80 – 100 $ for a signature or a selfie? Crazy talk. We did dress up Saturday and Sunday and I have to compliment the Premium lounge for pumping some much needed cold A/C in that room. When you’re decked out in head to toe leather you need a place to cool off in! The food options are pretty limited but they did have a ‘fresh café’ with fruit salads, chicken salads and croissant sandwiches and wraps. So you could grub on that or the popcorn, dippin dots, nachos and hot dogs. All in all it was a totally geeky experience and we enjoyed it. I’ll be back next year!

This year was my first comic Con. Everything was fun, but so expensive. Have lots and lots of cash, I wish comic con was more like the music festivals where you stood in line to get an autograph and you didn’t have to pay to meet everyone individually. I wanted to meet a lot more of the actors, but could not afford it. We only met the penguin from Gotham(Robin Lord Taylor) and Jeri Ryan. Both actors were very friendly and Robin Lord Taylor even did selfies with the fans.

2014 was my first Dallas Comic Con it was awesome, even though im not really into sci-fi it was cool seeing the cosplay took some pics with the cosplayers and I bought some awesome stuff(yay for no tax). Im knocking off a star because after being told all you had to do waspay cash at the table to get an autograph of a person(I tried to get an autograph from Nathan Fillion) appearently you had to have a ticket and they had given away all the tickets.
