I never actually saw the doctor because just calling them made me realize that this wasn’t the place for me. Was on hold 5 minutes, then disconnected. Called back, same thing except this time I waited 10 plus minutes for the not so nice lady on the phone to get my info and then say she wouldn’t book appointment without insurance info on the card. Got out of bed, got my card, she put me on hold another 5 minutes… I’m going to take this as a SIGN. Doctors offices’ need to stop being rude to people that need care. And this office needs to reevaluate who they have answer the phone to book appointments…

Several years ago when I moved to Dallas, I was seeing a physician in Irving and decided it was time to find someone out this way. My friend referred me to Dr. Kay Philips at DDA Park Cities and I absolutely love Dr. Philips and her staff. I can’t say enough good things about them and refer friends and family. It can be VERY hard to find a good internal medicine/family doctor these days. I saw several physicians in the past who I’m pretty sure didn’t listen to a single word I said, and apparently in less than two minutes they knew everything about me there was to know and were sending me on my way. Ridiculous. That doesn’t happen here. Dr. Philips takes the time to listen to her patients and get a thorough medical history. Her office is very easy to contact either by phone or on their website. Daphane, her MA, is AWESOME. This woman is God’s gift to giving injections. I have been needle-phobic since I was little and have always dreaded shots. I swear I hardly flinched when she gave me my tetanus shot or hepatitis B shots(and I heard so many things about how painful those were so I was really impressed, lol). All of the staff here are great — very friendly, professional, and just pleasant. My appointments almost always run on time give or take 10 minutes. If I call or e-mail the office any questions or concerns, I hear back from them typically within 24 hours. The last time I went in for an office visit and lab work, I got my lab results back to me via e-mail with comments from Dr. Philips that same day. I work in healthcare and this kind of service and treatment is a rarity. HIGHLYRECOMMEND!

My family and I have been going to DDA for years now. Once I was in college, the pediatric doctor wouldn’t see me anymore(I know, right?!) so I had to find a doctor that would give me a physical so I could play collegiate soccer.(You just checked my pictures, didn’t you, sorry to disappoint *wink*) (Enter stage right, Dr. Chapman) He definitely took care of me. You know all the regular stuff. «Breathe deeply. Now breathe normally. This might be cold. Turn your head and cough.» He’s a good doctor and I’ve seen him for any problems I’ve had since then, some of them major(shingles) and some of them minor(dizziness). Later on, I had a pituitary tumor and was referred to Dr. Extrum. Dr. X is a good doctor as well. Early on, the tumor required blood work every month. I was scheduled for monthly appointments only for him to share the results. I felt like I didn’t need to spend a co-pay for him to just tell me the results just to have another blood test in 30 days, so I asked if I needed to see him and he said, «I don’t see why. Just come and pick up your lab paperwork, no need to see me.» Saving money is always a plus in my book, so I appreciate him giving me a break. I have seen Dr. Kusch, and he has helped me with my eczema and psorisis. They’ve always been good about calling me about my results as well as filling prescriptions. You can schedule an appointment online which is very helpful, though I’ve found that calling them usually results in sooner appointments and faster scheduling. The last time I scheduled an appointment, they said, «We have an opening tomorrow at 1:15 or the next opening we have is in two months.» A busy doctor can’t be a bad doctor, can he?

Over the past week I had noticed this spot on my arm that was sore, red, and had all the look of something not great. My GYN agreed when I went to see her on Thursday. So I called up Dr. Ho’s office at Dallas Diagnostic because I needed to get in on Friday and make sure that my arm wasn’t going to fall off over the weekend because often I might be too drunk to notice. Dr. Ho didn’t have availability but they put me in with her family medicine cohort Dr. Nazish Islahi which was cool, I just needed a trained eye to take a looksee. I did have to wait a while for my appointment but since they were just working me in and it was a Friday afternoon I wasn’t upset about it. No biggie. Dr. Ho is Internal Medicine so I had forgotten that family practice docs see kids as well as adults but I remembered after I got in the waiting room and saw a few kids in there. Dr. Islahi had a really great«bedside» manner, very conversational and friendly. It was more like having a chat with a buddy than talking to a doctor. I bet she’s great with those kids! Anyway, she fixed me up and assured me my arm wouldn’t be falling off… well, at least not because of this problem anyway. She’s taking patients so if you need a family medicine doc for yourself and your kiddos you should come here!
