I wanted to be sure and share my appreciation for my vet Dr Neeman at Kindness who referred me to DVSC and to Dr Thompson. She has been most comforting and caring, as well as the few staff members I’ve encountered. Could not have asked for better people to be around during my time. Dr Thompson listened to me for weeks and I felt so bad as she did lots of comforting as well. They showed my Belle the best care possible and I know if I’m ever in a position in the future to need care it will be here and hoping Dr Thompson is availabe!!! Wishing everyone much success and THANK YOU for the care shown to us!!!

Best care I could have asked for for my dog who ruptured a disc. After my vets referral to these nuero specialists, we were taken right in and surgery was started within an hour. As a wreck watching my dog with hind leg paralysis, they were compassionate and concerned when providing all education for my pets needs and reassured me that he would «walk again after surgery, probably just not win any races». His sutures are immaculate and will dissolve in time. The surgeons there saved my dogs ability to walk and I will be forever grateful!

My 3 ½ yr old dog started limping around and acting like she was an 75 yr old with arthritis over 6 months or so. I took her to my primary vet who did find arthritis but also knew there was something else wrong and referred me to the surgeon.
Never thought I’d be one of those (crazy) pet owners who has $$$ surgery $$$ for their dog… but here we went. Admittedly, I’m a changed person because of her and yes, I’d give my kidney to my dog if she needed it. So I get it now.
The office is convenient and easy to get to from the tollway. Like ¼ mile right off the highway so when traffic is a beast up there, you can get in and out easily. Since they’re open for typical office hours only (7:30−4:40 M thru F) its good to know you can get to them without having to sit in traffic. The building has a drop off with a covered awning — it was rainy and freezing on our surgery day so I was very thankful for this. The rooms are very clean and nice. The waiting area is easy to move your immobile dog around in. They have things like coffee, magazines, saltwater fish tank, and candy while you wait. It’s the little things sometimes…
Dr. Lange was our surgeon and he has been superb. Very thorough and professional and he was very gentle and sweet to my dog each time we’ve seen him. He seems to know exactly what your pet needs but cares about you (the pet owner) too. Like he gets your life and wallet are going to be inconvenienced by this procedure but he understands its a no brainer you will get it done. I didn’t ask about financing, but I saw brochures on the counter.
The initial consultation was easy to schedule quickly (they worked me in since it was close to christmas) and then 2 days later we were having surgery. He examined her, watched her move around in pain and reviewed the x-​rays they did at my primary vet with me. Then he went into the options and timeline for surgery for both knees. I decided to do TPLO on the left first then come back and do the right in 12 weeks (or «until the checkbook recovers,» verbatim his words). The nurse asst came in to review the plan for surgery and estimate io charges. This all took about 1 hr of his busy time and I didn’t feel at all rushed or like he had other things to do.
Day of surgery was simple drop off, Dr. Lange called me when it was over to give me the details, and I picked her up the next day. The pickup appt was with one of the surgery residents who went over what to do at home, her pain and other meds, caring for the stitches, how to use the sling and get her around and gave me an emergency # to call since it was over Christmas holidays I had this done. He even came out to my car to help me get her in.
No major issues have come up since then but every time I’ve needed something or wanted to ask a stupid question, everyone is accommodating and exceptional with customer service. They sent a full detailedreport to my primary vet and followed up with me after each appt to see how she was doing. The surgeons, assistants, nurses and all staff I’ve interacted with have been top notch. We’re going to the physical therapist for rehab now and will be back in mid-​March for our second knee to be done. I wouldn’t think if going anywhere else or using a different surgeon.

My Shar Pei/​Shepherd mix, Aido, tore his CCL when he was four years old. My vet suggested I take him to the doctors at DVSC. I met with Dr. Bertrand, and he immediately assessed the situation. He explained the two options available, and we chose the TPLO procedure. After Dr. Bertrand performed the procedure, the follow-​up care was exceptional. Unfortunately, Aido tore his other CCL 11 weeks after the first surgery. We had no hesitation in returning to DVSC; this time Aido was cared for by Dr. Franks. She not only did a wonderful job of caring for Aido, but she also showed concern for my emotional state and assured me it is, unfortunately, common for a large dog to break the second CCL while recovering from the first break. Again, the follow-​up care DVSC staff provided to Aido was exceptional. I will always refer friends and family to them and consider their organization top-​notch.

I am so grateful for the DVSC (specifically the Grapevine location). My first experience was last year with my little Maltese, she had to have surgery to correct a luxating patella. Dr. Wells was my surgeon, and I couldn’t be more pleased with my visits and surgery outcome. Although we had to keep her activity restricted weeks following the surgery to ensure proper healing for her leg, within a week she was acting like she never even had issue with her leg. Much less, a surgery on it. It’s been a little over a year now and she hasn’t had any issue with her leg. I was so pleased with my first experience/​surgery that last week when I found a mass on my other dogs leg, I knew the only place I wanted to go to have an operation on my dog was the DVSC. This time my surgeon was Dr. Franks and once again nothing but a wonderful experience. It’s been just a few days and he is doing great after his surgery. From the first phone call to the pick up of my pets I felt confidant that my pets and I were in good hands and at the best place there was. I would highly recommend anyone to the DVSC-​Grapevine.

Hello I just wanted to send a thank you and an update! We flew to Dallas from Seattle back on ¹¹⁄₀₈. My 4 yr mini-​dachshund, Jack, had as the local docs put it «not won the back lottery». He had multiple episodes of paralysis due to back issues. We had one $ 5500 back surgery in Seattle which was very invasive and could only get an isolated disc or two. He had a few more «episodes» and I felt pretty hopeless. On my own (digging online) I found out about the laser disc ablation online with Dr. Wells (we do not have this procedure in Seattle). I called and they were very understanding and worked to get us in within a month. Right after the ablation he had a few episodes, which apparently was not very common to have, but Dr. Wells called me several times and kept a close eye on it. Within a few weeks he recovered and «knock on wood» it’s been 4 years and he is doing great, not one single episode! We are truly grateful for their services and I have no doubt this saved Jack from permanent paralysis. He has enjoyed a wonderful 4 years of running and playing and is still going strong! I was very pleased with the care of Dr. Wells and the whole staff there and would highly recommend them. In fact I tell ever dachshund owner I meet that this life saving procedure is available in Dallas. Thanks again!

Our Dachsund’s care by Dr. Wells and her staff was totally positive. We live in Austin and were recommended by our local vet for a specialized back treatment for Stretch. All went well. A few days later, unrelated to the original treatment, one of his vertebral discs ruptured and his lower back and legs were paralyzed. We wouldn’t think of going anywhere other than DVSC for the delicate surgery he needed, even if it meant driving to Dallas. They kept us abreast of the surgery and his progress throughout his next few days there. I’m happy to say that 8 months later Stretch is TOTALLY back to normal. He plays with his 2-​year-​old energetic sister and can easily complete the 1-​mile walk we do most days. Dr. Wells and her staff are caring and professional. In addition, they felt bad that we had to come back for a second time and significantly discounted the price of the surgery. I would not hesitate to take your pet to this fine veterinary center.
