Update to Andrew– Yes, Andrew you should definitely keep this thing going. It should do wonders for your business. People love to hand over money to petty folks who cannot control their need to stifle other peoples opinions. I’m guessing the reason your Unilocal reviews are decently high is because you send that pre-​emptive customer service email to hedge off any bad reviews. It’s too bad you missed mine. It appears that you also missed an opporunity along the same lines with another reviewer but I see you only tried to tell her that she missed the tiny warning that she never actually found per her update. As far as my tripadvisor review, you seem to have a lot of detail about why that was removed for someone with no involvement in getting it taken down. But I’m glad you were able to sort it out and get it removed. Every little bit helps! It sounds like Unilocal has really rubbed you the wrong way with their practices of transparency and it’s creating a lot of anguish for you. I can see how that would be dissapointing, when you wanted to be a A+ student. Oh, well. Buyer beware, right? I always say, if you need to advertise on Groupon, there might be a reason… Anywho, once I dried my tears from being «banned» from your place for writing honest feedback about you, I managed to make it back to my keyboard to respond to you over my sobs. As I said, my visit to the Southlake Escape Room was for a corporate outing, not family fun, unfortunately. Although, I deeply appreciate your concern for my kiddos mental and emotional well-​being. If the escape place doesnt work out, I have a feeling you have a bright future in childcare! But I digress (its probably the sadness of losing our relationship throwing me off). I chose to use Escape Room in Southlake based on the experience at with you and your facility. To your concerns about the darkness of their offerings– there are no nine year olds in my office that I have seen on any of my visits to the ladies room. But in case there are, or if my daughter wants another try, I’m going to wage a guess based on my experience in Southlake and all the smiling childrens faces on their Escape Rooms website, that your attempt to blemish the experience they provide is a reflection on you, not them. Cheers!

Went with my boyfriend as an anniversary trip. We were paired with another group in the attic room. The puzzle was challenging but not frustratingly impossible. We were so close to finishing but unfortunately we didn’t. Definitely would do again.

I wouldn’t have made it out of that room even if they’d given me an extra hour. We went with half the recommended number of people and even though we were a collaborative failure, we still had a blast and a unique experience away from the typical bar scene. The staff is laid back and friendly and the challenges are goofy but adult appropriate.

Came here for a work event and had a blast. This place is a great place for team building and forces you to work together in a fun atmosphere. Andrew (the owner) gave us a quick orientation before we got started and man I wish I had paid attention more as he goes over how to open the locks, which is a crucial part of the game! He is very funny and called people out. The room we did was hard and we did not escape but ended up playing until we finished and it took about 5 minutes extra. I would highly recommend doing this for a fun group event or night out!

Simply put — Go do this! Everyone should try this out. Great for so many events and occasions! It’s a nice departure from the usual suspects — no pun intended. Put yourself to the test and see if you can escape before time runs out!!!
We went for my son’s 16^th birthday and it exceeded expectations. It appealed to all ages and we just had a ball. We will be back for more fun very soon.

My husband and I had so much fun! We were the only two in the time slot we had originally booked. The lady called me a couple hours before asking if we would like to change the time so we could have a larger group. We did and we’re happy we did so. We escaped with less than a minute remaining. We would never have escaped if it were just the two of us. We also had originally booked the attick. The lady recommended we switch to the secret vault since it was just four of us. It is a harder room but better for less people since the attick has things that will keep 8 people busy the entire time. We had so much fun! I can’t wait to go back and try to escape the rest of the rooms!

The this is one of the most fun things I’ve done in Dallas in a long time! We had a group of 6 and opted for the second hardest room and talk about an hour flying by! Pay attention to how the locks work during the short explanation at the start and don’t discount the importance of anything in the room. It’s hard writing a review and not giving things away!
If you ever want to try your Sherlock Holmes hat, need a team building activity, just something different to do one night, definitely check this place out. With different room options, you can definitely come back and try other rooms!

My friends and I had a great time even though we didn’t escape the mind matrix room. The staffs were friendly and had a lot patience for our shenanigans. Next time we are in Dallas, we would definitely try it again.

We did the Mind Matrix room. The location is a little shady. Dimly lit parking lots in a warehouse area of Richardson/​N Dallas. The actual place is very professionally setup with waiting area and briefing room.
I didn’t enjoy this room as much at other places. After the first room, the puzzles were a little too linear. There was never enough for 8 people to actually work on. I found myself just sort of wandering around a lot because there wasn’t enough to do. And the majority
of the puzzles being math problems was very tedious. Sure there were some other more imaginative puzzles, but most were «solve this equation or series of word problems».
Also the theme seemed very forced. Very much nerdy by way of what a writer on the Big Bang Theory thinks of as nerdy. It didn’t help that we went in without any back story or explanation of why we were there or why we needed to get out.
We also had a setback where a piece of equipment want functioning correctly and we didn’t know at first. Not sure if the time we got back was enough.
The briefing was good though. The explanation of some non-​standard lock functions and basic radio operations.

Wow! I recently had a team (work) event here and we had a blast! We were a little skeptical when we pulled in (it’s in an interesting area!) but once we were inside we were in a different world!
Andrew (the owner) gave us a brief orientation and a little bit of insight how this place came to be — he was super entertaining and we weren’t even in one of the rooms yet! After hearing the rules and guidelines, we were off to the first room!
There were several rooms but we started with the ‘Attic Panic’ which is the «easiest» room there. I won’t spoil anything but it wasn’t exactly a piece of cake! Some of the puzzles were more straight forward than others, but they were all a bit of a challenge. We had 7 people in our group which felt like the right amount for this room — everyone had something to do for the majority of the time we were in there. As others mentioned, you get 3 «lifelines» or clues which were definitely a huge help when we got stuck. Sadly, we did not escape this room. Womp womp. In our defense though, we only had 2 clues left to go so we really only needed a few more minutes. Either way, it was probably one of the best «losing» experiences I’ve had!
The second room we did was the ‘Secret Vault’ which was slightly more difficult than the other. That being said, this one seemed a bit easier since we had a bit more idea of what we were doing at this point. We actually escaped this room successfully so at least we didn’t have to leave feeling sorry for ourselves!
I would highly recommend this for any one looking for a group activity to do. We had a blast and I would definitely return!

We only had 4 people in our group so we were paired with another group. That was weird because we had to learn how to work out clues with another group, but that allowed more people to help figure the clues.
Overall great experience and the employees and owners for super nice.

So close… but SO FAR! That is the feeling you get when you almost escape Escape Room.
TIP: party of 6 – 7 is most optimal for Chase Room. Everyone has something to do at all times.
If you are reading this review, you probably already know what Escape Room is. If you don’t, but you are up for a great time full of puzzles and playing detective, then you will definitely enjoy what Escape Room has to offer. Keeping it short, I visited this Escape Room with a party of 6 other friends, and we attempted the Chase Room. Not to spoil anything, but the room has a 20% success rate and is geography heavy. Although we were unable to escape in time (BUT WE CAME SO CLOSE UGH!!!), it was a cool experience nonetheless.
I would have to give this place props for having such creative ideas. The room itself did not feel impossible (definitely helps if you’ve done at least one before so you know what kind of clues you should be looking for), and had enough things to do to give you a challenge. The staff here was very nice and extremely helpful… especially when you need help and you just know that someone is watching you struggle on the other side of the security camera. :D
In all, if you are in to puzzles or something unique, you should certainly pay a visit here.

This was such a great experience. Went on a date night with my cousins & our beaus (and made some new friends). First your signed in and then given details on rules of the room. Then they escort you to the room and that’s where the escape begins. The room was a little overwhelming at first but such a great way to think & use your mind. We had such a great time and we finished the room with less than 4 minutes to spare. Well definitely be back again to try another room

I highly recommend this place over all other escape rooms. This is actually challenging and fun at the same time! Too many people can be chaotic if you don’t communicate properly. Bring your wits. Less is more!

I’m a loser baby… that song springs to mind as I was handed a sign that shows my team of 4 guys failed to do in an hour what a bunch of girls can do in 50 minutes :) I’ll try not to give anything away so as not to spoil things for others.
That said, much fun, frustration, blood, sweat and tears were had by each of us as we chased the thief across the globe, in search of the stolen artifact.
Upon arrival we were greeted by our friendly hosts, signed the waiver and went into a waiting area. We were given the rules, of which there were not many, in general, then each room had their own specific sets of rules once inside.
There were clues to help us along the way as we tried to figure out what code opened which lock, struggled with simple addition, and we each had a go testing our skill and nerves of steel.
We were stuck a few times and were able to received upto 3 lifeline clues.
Once we finally escaped (1 hour 40 minutes!) we shared a laugh and talked to the owners who were really nice.
Afterwards we discussed how we felt about the experience. The most dissatisfaction we had was with some of the locks. We had 3 people try and open one and the 4^th person who tried managed to open it. So, my first hint at success is to pass the lock around. A second problem is we thought we had found all the clues but our lifeline told us there was another. My second hint for success is to have someone double check, then have someone double check again to make sure you have found everything.
Finally, there were a lot of 3 and 4 digit numbers. We found some lock codes by trial and error. There may have been some obvious clue which we totally overlooked (one or two spring to mind, but hindsight is ²⁰⁄₂₀ right?). My third hint for success is to keep note of what codes you tried with which locks to safe yourself some repetition. Pay attention to even the smallest detail.
With all that said, we’re looking forward to coming back and giving another room a try and we’ll maybe bring some more intelligence with us next time! Can’t wait to give it another go.

This place was a lot of fun overall. I went with a group and we escaped with very little time remaining! I would like to go back and experience the other rooms sometime.
I can’t spoil anything but I thought some of the puzzles or locks were a little repetitive or didn’t fit with the story. The owner that walked us through the rules was very helpful but he didn’t seem enthusiastic about the scenario information before we went in.
This place is a lot of fun for groups — just be prepared for the competitive personalities to come out full force from your friends, especially when time starts to run low!

We have a friend who enjoys escape rooms and he was in town and asked if we would like to join him and a group of his friends. UH. yes please!
For those of you who don’t know what an escape room is, here’s the skinny. It’s a room (or series of rooms) that you must work through puzzles, riddles, clues and locks to find the ending scenario to escape from the room.
Off we go to Escape Expert. We have been assigned (by our friend) to an intermediate room called «Secret Vault».
In the briefing room, there’s a poster that says, «Think outside the box»
Now I will try to give a fair review without giving away anything. This particular room is very linear in its design. Solve one clue, go on to the next. Nothing in particular stood out as particularly «out of the box» which was what I was hoping for. I was hoping to find something particularly clever, but everything seemed to be pretty straight forward.
Now to be fair, we had fun. The «Time to beat» on the door is 44:55. Now you’ll need to realize that it was 44:55 minutes with two clues. We asked for a single clarification and we escaped but I think somewhere in the 50 minute range. For this «Time to beat» to be accurate, it really should compare times with how many clues you were given, but that’s for a different discussion.
We didn’t have any problems with the function of any of the locks. We’ve been to another escape room where locks weren’t working properly and the room was not reset properly either (some locks were already unlocked when time started). This was not the case here. Everything was where it should be and we appreciated that.
All-​in-​all, we would come back for one of the more expert rooms.

I went with family who were in town visiting, and I’ll admit, I was a little skeptical. I’m pleased to say, I really enjoyed myself and so did the whole group. There are quite a few different adventures; we chose the Attic Panic. We were paired with 4 strangers to round out the group, all of whom turned out to be very nice and very sharp.
After getting instructions, they set the timer for one hour and lock the door. The room is fairly big so even if you are claustrophobic (which I kinda am) you shouldn’t have any problems. You also have a walkie talkie to communicate with the staff, if needed.
The object is to solve successive clues, which will open locks and reveal the next step. If you get through them all, you find the key to unlock the room and escape. The time goes by quickly and the puzzles are challenging! We almost made it, but not quite. They say that only 40-​some percent get out in time, so I guess we can’t feel too badly.
Anyway, this is a very unique activity and I highly recommend to those looking for something different to do.
Couple things to know: the rooms are all upstairs and there is no elevator — so while the activity is suited to a wide variety of ages, you’ll need to be able to climb a flight of concrete stairs. Also, it was pretty chilly inside (and perhaps gets hot during the summer?) so you might want to dress in layers that you can add or shed as needed.

Brought the family for some R & R … We came up to Dallas as my daughter is getting ready for Dental school and as any tourist would do… We checked all the tourists spots via trip advisor! Love the city! On our last day of weeklong stay… We wanted something different! Gave escape expert a try and voilà… Fun time for all!!! My smart aleck kids were stomped! So much fun for all! We did the the Mind Matrix (expert mode) and Almost finished it!
It is so mind boggling … I was ready to call Steve Hawkins for some help! Luckily we got to the last stage but just ran out of time! ⁹⁄₁₀ for super FUN family time !!! Love it and the owners were very professional and kind to extend us an invite to test the other escape rooms! Love it and would invite others to try it! Great time for all

I took my roommate here last night as a surprise for her birthday, and we had an amazing time! We did the «Secret Vault» room (which is an intermediate level room) and it was challenging and super fun! We managed to break the record for the room and escaped at about 58 minutes and 15 seconds! They really did a great job setting up this room. All the clues and puzzles were just the right amount of difficulty.
The staff was amazing, too! Everyone was super nice and excited that we were there. We can’t wait to go back and do another room! I can’t recommend this place enough!
