Eye

The Eye is definitely worth a stop to take a look and some pictures, but you can’t get very close and it’ll be a short stop.

Oh look, a giant eyeball in the middle of the city. It’s very random and very cool.

I drove through Dallas just to see this beauty! It’s magnificent. Anyone in an eye care profession should have it as a must see destination. All the non eyeball people will still find it pretty exciting. It’s literally a giant eyeball sitting in a field. One downside is that it’s gated and the gate is rarely open to the public. Even with the gate, it’s pretty easy to get the full scope of how huge this thing is. One upside, Café Strada is right next to it. It’s a charming Italian coffee, gelato place with perfect seating to observe the eye! Enjoy you won’t be disappointed!

It’s a giant (as in really really large) eye ball plopped down in a field of fake green grass among skyscrapers and all the shiny glass Dallas serves up. How could it not be awesome.
I surprised my family with this big eye stop. I told them I had something fun to show them and I gave them one hint: EYE, think you will like it. My sons and even my wife grew impatient with me, they insisted my hint was unfair. We rounded the corner and their eyes gazed upon this giant eye and they had a good laugh as I revisited my hint, «EYE, think you will like it». and they did.
although the gate was locked (monday) we admired it from the sidewalk.

Who wouldn’t want to to go visit a big eye in downtown Dallas?! It’s such a stunning landmark you should put on your bucket list and pay it a visit.
There’s even events at the eye like yoga. Then stop in for a beverage and hangout time across the street at the Joule Hotel.

I really hope that it becomes an iconic site of Dallas.
It is just so fascinating to me. They put so much effort into recreating a realistic eye ball in a size that would not fit into any person’s head.
It watches everything (except that which is outside its unflinching gaze).
I don’t know what the official meaning and significance of it is, but to me it can just represent so many different aspects in our society. And even without all those meaningful personal interpretations, it’s still a gigantic human eye!
The 30 foot tall eye was designed by ‘Tony Tasset’, a Chicago-​based artist. It is just the beginning of a sculpture garden being built in a collaboration between ‘The Joule’ hotel across the street & Dallas’s ‘Nasher Sculpture Center’. If the other sculptures are as entertaining as the ‘Eye’, then I eagerly await their unveiling.

Well why didn’t someone think of this before? Main street in downtown Dallas has always been void of a 30 foot tall Eyeball. I’ve never understood what took so long. Installed on ⁰⁴⁄₂₀ it’s the work of Chicago artist Tony Tasset. An ocular oddity indeed.
I enjoy the fact that Eye celebrates and embraces secular heterochromia as I have.
