I really miss this place. I am so sad they closed :(The buffet for that price is good. And the sushi makers even ask what you want, like amazing. And they have that spinning thing! The waiter was always nice and attentive. I really miss this place, you’ll be in my heart lmfao

I liked Genki Sushi. The sushi was pretty good for all you can eat. Almost every time the owner would ask if there was a particular roll I wanted to eat. I think they CLOSED. Sad.

I don’t know much about sushi, I fully admit that. I like the rolls, not so much the sashimi. The closer to just a piece of raw fish it is, the less interested I am. That’s my burden, and I have no problem with that. Which means I am totally happy with Genki Sushi. A conveyor belt of sushi rolls? Hell yeah. It’s not the fanciest and it might not be the best, but there’s a lot of it and it’s not bad. If it initially seems like there isn’t a huge selection, just ask. I love unagi and just politely asked the sushi dudes behind the counter for some and all of sudden, boom. Unagi. I will say that I am not a fan of the salad that comes with the buffet and the wasabi and ginger seemed a little… old. Stale. But other than that, we’ve been twice, we’ll go again anytime we feel the need to go into a sushi coma.

A friend asked me to join her here for dinner recently. Having never been to a sushi joint that has a conveyor belt, I was intrigued. The deal is this: $ 17 for all you can eat sushi, a bowl of miso, a salad(with ginger dressing), and one roll prepared fresh for you. You don’t get to choose the roll, but mine contained a piece of fried shrimp in it. I liked it. The salad was ok. I like ginger dressing and the lettuce was decent. The sushi was alright. Nothing special, but certainly not bad. Nothing is labeled though. You kind of have to look and guess at what you’re getting. Pretty basic california roll type stuff. It’ll fill you up, but it won’t blow you away. There were a few cooked rolls or what looked like veggies. Because they’re in covered or saran wrapped containers, they develop condensation. I avoided these. It just didn’t seem like a good idea to eat them. The verdict: If you’ve got $ 20 and want to stuff your face with average sushi, check out Genki.

I like the spinning belt that lets you pick out your Own sushi. The décor was nice and food was good.

This place will satiate your craving for sushi, plus you don’t see the conveyor belt sushi places very often here in Dallas. I’ve been many times, but when I went Friday night almost every sushi plate they put down was either a fried jalapeño stuffed with cream cheese or california rolls. I had to ask over and over for other rolls which was quite annoying.

Sushi is a wonderful thing If you find the right place! Dollar for dollar you get more here and it’s great food! It’s so much fun to watch food come down a conveyor belt! For me, it’s great because I can eat all the different kinds of sushi(ALLYOUCANEAT) two pieces at a time!!! Unlike most sushi buffets where you get up and get the food, here the food comes to you — on a belt that flows around the sushi bar! The staff is very nice and they make almost anything you want FRESH — then add it to the belt of food!!! Amazing and for $ 15 bucks, you can’t beat it!!!

All you can eat«crab»! Yes, just like some other reviewers have stated. This is a california roll buffet. All I saw on the conveyor belt were rolls filled with imitation crab. Oh and a couple with fried shrimp. But all of them basically tasted the same. For $ 8 more I could have gone to Tokyo One and had all the real sushi that I wanted.

Met up with an old friend here for dinner. I love that is family owned and operated and just a small little place. The rolls are delicious and the family is very nice. I have seen this place several times before and never thought anything about it, I definitely will go back. I think my favorite roll was the crazy roll and the vegas roll, yum! You can tell that they really enjoy taking care of their customers and that speaks volumes.

All you can eat sushi for about $ 17! The sushi comes by on a conveyor belt, allowing you to pick up any of the rolls passing by. Service was good as well. Only negative I can think of was that it smelled a little strange in the restaurant. We got used to it though and it definitely didn’t affect our appetites! We’ll be back!

I like Genkis lunch prices. Sushi is average but like everyone else says its just california rolls with different decoration on top. I wish they would offer more variety.

Not what I expected but what was not dissatisfied. There really is no need to compare the conveyor belt sushi places found here in the States vs those found in Tokyo and Kyoto(which are amazing), so I won’t. What I will say though is that this place offered a variety of rolls I found interesting and delicious. My friend and I got there about 12:30PM on a Monday and there were a few customers. We ordered the«lunch buffet»(which ended up to be $ 14/person) and sat down by the bar. The server and chefs were prompt in asking us what we needed and wanted. We had a choice of miso soup or salad with our meal. There was definitely a good amount of variety in the rolls available. When I first sat down, there were maybe four different types of rolls and some edamame making its way around but after I finished my third plate or so, there were at least twelve different types of rolls making its way around the belt. Two pieces per plate is a great way to sample the rolls and find out what you like. I tried some I had never before — one was fried(I am not big on fried items but this was delicious), one had a dab of sriracha on it, and one even had crawfish. Many were even beautiful. The service was great! What was missing for me was nigiri, a staple for my sushi dining experience. There was none on the belt so I asked the chef and yes! It is included in my buffet price. The tuna on my nigiri was nowhere near as thick and luscious as you would find elsewhere but I’m not going to complain — its a buffet! By the time I left, the conveyor belt was gorged with plates of delectable looking pieces — too bad I was happily full. Definitely will return again when I am craving rolls and will certainly bring friends.

I seriously love Genki. Disclaimer: If you are a sushi snob(you know who you are!), stop reading this right now, and look elsewhere. Genki features an all-you-can-eat sushi conveyor belt; they have a menu, supposedly featuring more sushi offerings and Japanese steaks, but who has time for all that, with an unlimited offering of sushi rolls creeping past you on a continuous basis? The lunch buffet is something like $ 12.95, and dinner is about $ 16.50. For this price, you get unlimited sushi rolls, ginger salad, miso, and edamame. In my opinion, the rolls are excellent quality for all-you-can-eat. They don’t skimp on the fish, and everything always looks and tastes fresh. They rotate through a nice variety of rolls, including some drool-worthy tempura rolls. Unless they get completely slammed, the sushi chef usually surprises us with a specialty roll on the house. What a nice touch! We have also been offered sashimi on more than one occasion. If you don’t see what you want on the conveyor belt, just ask; chances are, they will make it for you. As other Unilocalers have stated, you will definitely have a better experience if you go when they are slightly busy. It’s not that the sushi isn’t fresh if you go when they’re dead, it’s just that you’ll experience less variety. And of course, it becomes immediately obvious to the staff how much food you are personally responsible for consuming. Um, embarrassing! They seem to do a bigger lunch than dinner, in my experience. Give Genki a try, especially if you’re a sushi beginner. It’s a great way to ease into it and find out what you like.

What a pleasant surprise to find a place like Genki Sushi & Steakhouse here in Dallas! My wife and I go out for sushi several times a month, which can be a financial boon if only because at most places two people can rack up a $ 60+ tab fairly quickly. We’re transplants from San Diego and are bit of sushi snobs. As far as Genki Sushi is concerned, as a previous poster mentioned, the price to value ratio here cannot be beaten. What sets Genki apart from other conveyor belt style sushi places is that they offer an all-you-can-eat sushi bar for only $ 16.50. This includes soup, salad(peanut/ginger dressing) and the ‘chefs special’ roll for the guests. The star rating on this restaurant is a bit unfair. As other have noted, Genki is a SOLID four star place. Anyone complaining that the sushi isn’t five-star quality from a $ 16.50 all-you-can-eat buffet had seriously unrealistic expectations. And as far as the debate between real/fake crab, most all sushi places use fake crab. Even«high end» places usually mix it 50⁄50 between fake and real. I’ll let you in on a sushi insider secret: If you ever get food poisoning from a «fancy» sushi restaurant, odds are it’s from their crab meat. Anyways, if you enjoy eating copious amounts of sushi rolls(I counted seven different rolls on the belt while we were there) at a reasonable price, then PLEASE do not pass up on going to Genki Sushi & Steak. We’re certainly glad we did!

It was lunch time and a friend scooped me up from home and it was her choice of where to dine so i ended up in this shopping center where they had sushi on a conveyor belt. The only other time i witnessed this was while in Tokyo but the difference here was that it was a price fixed menu. So we got there and had to wait to get into the conveyor safe area and watched the guy get our two seats ready right in front of the sushi bar and thats all she wrote. Pieces of Sushi and other items came driving by on the conveyor and you get to pick whichever items you like off the belt and eat and eat more. You have an option of ordering a soup or salad when you first sit. I went for the ginger salad and picked some nice sushi pieces. I wish they had a label for what one was picking but it didnt bother me that it didnt. You can also request items from the sushi chef other than what comes out of the conveyor belt and they will make it and bring it to you all for 15 bucks. I saw one couple go to town and eat so much that their bowls were stacked so high you could barely see them but most of the guests i noticed were done after about six plates off the conveyor belt. I plan on going back some other day to thoroughly explore it again and see what else i can find out about the spot but for now i am kinda intrigued. The sushi grade was ok, nothing marvellous but it was expected.

What can I really say that hasn’t already been covered? I’ll admit that I’ve slacked a little lately seeing as how, a few weeks ago, I had no idea this place existed & now I have been to it twice: once for lunch and once for dinner. I left both times utterly stuffed, completely satisfied, and still wanting more…(twss?) Both times, my friends & I bellied up to the buffet, which comes to you via conveyor belt. So maybe this makes me a bit of a 5 year old, but it’s fun to have your food come to you in this manner. I get all excited when I see something yummy approaching. Oh, the anticipation! I tried the miso once and the ginger salad once, both of which I enjoyed. We also plowed thru a few bowls of edamame *nom nom* I appreciate that the rolls come 2 pieces to a plate because I can be bold and try new stuff without worrying about wasting a lot of food. The two times I’ve been, it wasn’t overly crowded either at the buffet or the stand alone tables. All of the staff was friendly and attentive and that included those shuttling away our massive stack of plates as well as the sushi chefs, who will make stuff you like if you just ask. At dinner, we got our choice of sushi and they made us a yummy roll just for our section. It was a nice way to make our dining experience more personal even while enjoying a buffet style meal. On both visits, I got out of here for relatively cheap given the amount of food I consumed. I love that it’s around the corner from my place, though my waistline might not appreciate it after a while.

visited this place again last week with a couple of co-workers…seems like the price has lowered to $ 12.xx after tax I tipped $ 2 they were nice to offer us seat/drink as we waited for the line to clear… at first the sushi roll pieces were slow to come out… and they didn’t bring many to the far right side by the windows where we were sitting… but as people leave and get full… we got our hands full with many types of rolls again I destroyed about 10 plates and a bowl of edamamme =P this visit was better than last b/c I think the price went down? and it seems like they had more types of sushi…(still mostly based off of california roll) I think I’ll visit here again… since it’s right across from my office !!

hahah, the term sushi buffet sounds like a challenge to me. And trust in this my friends, I’m ALWAYS up for a challenge. Visited Genki the other night and I actually incurred a wait for a spot at the conveyor belt. Only about 15 minutes so nothing bad. They must have been hit hard all at once, but hey, that means fresh sushi, not the suspect plate that’s been around the block 20 times. This place has gotten progressively better since I’ve been visiting. Miso soup is good here and was warming on a cold night. Sushi comes 2 to a plate so just enough to give you a good taste, or to discard if you dislike it. If you want something particular, holler at the chef and he’ll happily oblige. Salmon sashimi tastes fresh, which of course is the point of sushi. Majority of rolls here are normally california with some sort of spin. I’m ok with that, but sometimes they should really lay off the eel sauce. I usually avoid any fried rolls, as they cloudy up the bowl covers and get then you are left with a soggy roll. Kick back and enjoy a leisurely meal with some friends and stack some plates up!

I love rolls but if you are really hungry for rolls then this is the place to go. Its like Golden corral but sushi and you can sit down instead of walking around. The last time I went here the service was good the waiter cleared my plates at the right time. on a side note: the owner changed so its gotten a lot better.
