Gold Dust Tattoos & Fine Art is a Dallas based studio providing custom tattoos and body piercings. We pride ourselves on having some of the best tattoo artists in Dallas who have received multiple awards for their work. We make it a priority to ensure each client has a positive experience and leaves the studio with an exceptional tattoo.

History

Established in 2013.

Gold Dust opened in December of 2013. Our original location is a private studio open for appointments only on Bryan St. During the summer of 2014, Char and Emily McGaughy opened a second location on Lower Greenville. The second location is open for both walk-​ins and appointments: Monday-​Thursday 2pm-​9pm, Friday and Saturday 2pm-​10pm. Our Lower Greenville location offers body piercing in addition to custom tattoos.

Char McGaughy is a multi-​award winning Dallas based tattoo artist. She has been tattooing since 2010 and continues to be active in the local art community. Char opened Gold Dust Tattoos & Fine Art in late 2013. She enjoys working with her clients and is proud to tattoo alongside the rest of the Gold Dust crew.

We stopped in here to have my daughter’s nose pierced. The space looked nicer than most of the tattoo shops in lower Greenville. The staff were friendly and quite knowledgeable. They took the time to ensure we were properly id’d and explained the procedure, and showed me the equipment they would use. The needle and the stud were sealed and clean, and the piercer wore gloves. It was quick and easy and my daughter was thrilled with her new look.

I searched through hundred of portfolios online, instagram, facebook, Unilocal,etc. searching for the perfect artist for my mandala. I found a few ok artists and then found Jason Call and knew he was THE ONE!
I saw he was booked through January so decided to email him ASAP to get myself in line! HE quickly responded that he had a cancellation and asked if I wanted it. So Hell Yea I took it! I even left work early for it!
He gave me a perfect tattoo! Just what I wanted!
The shop itself was very clean and laid back. I hate going into a tattoo shop where you feel out of place and/​or uncomfortable… Like… I’m about to get poked thousands of time… be cool…
Anyways, other great artists there as well! I will go back for more ink!

I’ve been itching to get another tattoo recently because well, reasons. I had passed Gold Dust quite a few times while meandering around lower Greenville. Finally because of a series of recent events, I decided to go in and get it done. I was put in touch with Zach by one of the other artists at the shop. I told him what I wanted, he gave me an estimate, and then I mentioned that I may come back later that evening or book an appointment later.
Apparently after dinner elsewhere on lower Greenville, I decided it was time to take the dive and go on in. The prep time took about 10 minutes and the tattoo took about 20 minutes. Zach was really cool the entire time and gave me plenty of prep and post information for the healing process. I had a great experience with Zach despite just being a random walk-​in. He does great line work and apparently my girlfriends are now itching to go in and get some script work done too.
If you are planning on being a walk-​in, you’re best bet will be Mondays through Wednesdays. Just ask for the Zach — he has a beard and he’s hard to miss!

I can’t tell you how much I love this place! Char, the owner/​operator, is a great friend of mine. When my grandfather passed away, I spoke with her about the style tattoo wanted for a memorial and she instantly recommended Roque. As badly as I wanted a Char piece, I trusted her when she said he was the one I should see. Needless to say, I am blown away by the piece Roque drew for me. I gave him my idea and he ran with it. He texted me the night before with his prelim drawing and I had tears in my eyes it was so beautiful and perfect! Everything that I wanted it to be! I get compliments daily on my piece. I have a feeling that Gold Dust will be seeing me a lot more! Plans for a sleeve already in my mind!

Char is by far the best of the best! Whether you’re looking for beautiful artwork or unique, original tattoos she’s the person to go see! Aside from her immaculate artistic talent she’s nothing but professional and makes you feel extremely comfortable no matter how long you’re in the chair. Overall, no matter what, you’ll leave extremely satisfied after getting tattooed by char!

Char is now my go to tattoo artist. She did my first piece and it came out great. Even though it was a small tattoo, she didn’t rush it. Her shop is clean and welcoming. Char, keep setting the bar high for every tattoo artist out there. I highly recommend her and will definitely be back.

I can’t find words to express how much this artist (Dave)@ Gold Dust II has done for me, if you have ever had a bad tat. Then you must know how thankful I am of this guy for 5 years I have been so self conscious of my left arm dressing to hide my tat. Now the arm I hide for years I’m so so proud of! Dave you are amazing! people stop me everywhere to complent your work, even other artists (that’s saying something)

The shop is amazing and so comfortable compared to any shop I’ve been in, ie imagine a hip NYC loft with great artwork (by Char and many other talented artists) filling the walls. Char cares so much about what she does and invests her time and money to give you the best. Her machines are virtually silent which I’m sure costs triple what a normal irritating machine does. Lastly I want to say her talent is unsurpassed by any top national artist. She gave me exactly what I wanted by taking my thoughts and translating onto paper and then my body. Her suggestions made what I thought was perfect even better. Listen to what she says and take her advice it will work in your favor. I didn’t just get a little clover on my ankle I’ve gotten a total of 3 half sleeves (I got my nephew a half sleeve for graduation and he’s extremely pleased as well) and a pec piece and calf. So she IS my go to artists from now on.
If you don’t want to be cionstantly stopped and asked or complimented about your tattoo then go somewhere else bc her work is amazing!!!

Char is my «go to» for all my ink. Her skill and artistry are amazing. She’s incredibly talented, very professional, and accomplished in different styles of tattooing. I’m always thrilled with the results and get lots of compliments on her work.
David is my guy for piercing. He did a great job at correcting a botched septum piercing I’d gotten at another shop. He’s fun, knowledgeable, and good at calming your nerves.
The shop is very clean, well organized, and comfortable. I always have a great experience while there and look forward to my next visit.
