As I’ve mentioned before, I enjoy a good thrift store experience, and I like to dress up in costumes. I learned in college that Goodwill is THE costume store. No matter if you are trying to be an 80’s aerobics instructor, a pimp, a used car salesman or even a character on Dynasty — you will find everything you need at your local Goodwill store. This particular store is very clean and neat and things are separated meticulously. There are different sections for everything and it’s pretty easy to navigate. I always check out the dishes bc sometimes the people sorting the donations can be clueless and mark a great le creuset piece $ 3 or I can score some of that great blue and white danish china my mom loves so much. Honestly the only thing that bothers me in this store is the other people shopping here, but you have to realize that you are at a Goodwill, in East Dallas. Just get some purell and call it a day. Today’s hunt — a «tacky Christmas sweater»(none!??) Today’s score — 10 packs of cute Christmas-y cocktail napkins(great stocking stuffers/girls’ gifts) for 50 cents each, a strand of old fashioned(and working!) christmas lights to wrap around my dog and take a picture($ 4) and a great little stained glass MERRYCHRISTMAS rocks glass that I will probably put something in as a centerpiece or something($ 1). Overall probably not a place I’d make a special trip to, but if you’re making the rounds looking for a certain thrift store something, stop in. This is the kind of thrift store that most people are scared of. It smells musty. The clothes are mostly early 90’s and/or HUGE, and there’s very little of quality. If you like thrift stores(as I do), you still enjoy the browsing. I’ve found several things there to meet my needs, including a small frying pan, a laptop case, and a nice men’s shirt for the hubby. For the most, part, though, it’s hard work to find good stuff in this Goodwill, and there’s plenty of other better spots out there.

This store manager & assistant manager are the worst! They are extremely rude and not interested in selling the merchandise. Apparently they have a «Company policy» that customers may not shop out of their restocking carts — ok, fine. Then when I mentioned I was interested in taking a closer look at one of the items in the cart, I was told about the policy. Then they also expected me to wait while they reorganized the area where this merchandise was to be placed… really? I waited for about 10 minutes then asked and was given the same answer that I needed to wait until they unloaded the cart? Both managers spoke to me very rudely and after all that waiting let some other jerk take the item I asked about first.

At a place like Goodwill, you have to give it several chances. I went on a Wednesday afternoon and was pleasantly surprised by what I found. For $ 2, I walked out with a black and white Deena and Ozzy purse(sold at Urban Out. for at least $ 60). My best friend, who has small feet, scored some amazing vintage Nine West pumps and peep-toe shoes for a nice grand total of $ 14. We naturally gravitated towards the right side of the store, where the galore of shoes(I spied some ferragamos and Cole haans… too bad they were too small for me!) and women’s items were. I was looking for blazers and coats in size 0 and 2, but most of them were larger. Other items included a stocked belt section, home accessories section in the back, racks of women and children tops in the middle of the store, and at the other side was mens. Don’t look here for jewelry though; the section is non-existent. The clothing and shoes are sorted by color, so at least there’s some type of order. I would definitely hit up this place first, rather than go to Buffalo Ex a couple blocks down the street.(Makes you realize how much you SHOULD be paying for clothes.)

I stopped by this Goodwill on my lunch break in search of thrift stores I havent yet visited(i love going to the Salvation Army off Inwood, and Genesis off Knight) and found this tiny location. It is probably the smallest Goodwill I have ever been to. However contrary to the other review they has the nicest and friendliest employees there. Maybe I was there on a good day but I walked away with an awesome vintage white cakeplate, a suncatcher, and a good bit of crafting fabric and yarn, plus some earrings for under $ 15. The employees greeted everyone who came in and were very friendly and polite. I will definitely be back again.

This place has some of the rudest employees I’ve ever come across — considering I’m a thieving pirate — that’s saying a lot. They close at 6 pm on weekdays, and my friend and I walked in at 5:54. We were immediately shouted at by at least 5 cashiers and a few other employees standing around doing nothing(must have been the managers.) Amongst the load, churlish chorus of, «we close at 6» and stink eyes from every employee in the place, my friend and I cringed and backed away towards the exit like animals who have been abused. First of all, there is absolutely no reason what-so-ever to ever yell at customers for walking into a store 6 minutes before closing. Secondly, what store doesn’t allow patrons through it doors 5 minutes before closing? After all, the name of the place is «Goodwill». Just drive to Thrift Town on Garland Road for all your second-hand clothing needs and bypass the Goodwill on Greenville Avenue.
