Gratitude

Visited last weekend. They have a decently large collection of jewelry, clothing, and accessories. I found some very Texas-​y earrings as a souvenir and my friend found a vintage silk dress reminiscent of the 40s to wear to the wedding we were in town for. We are thrilled with our purchases and wish we had had time to explore the store some more. Items were well organized in comparison to other vintage/​retro/​consignment shops I’m used to. The owner was very helpful and even suggested other shops to check out.

Came here looking for a 70’s polyester shirt for my man for a disco party and they definitely had the largest selection in Dallas. We found an awesome shirt that they let us rent for around $ 15 – 20 a week.
I also found a fantastic 70’s glam fur coat that I’m planning to wear over my costume.
Lots of dresses… not really any funky disco clothing for women, but luckily I found the rest of my costume elsewhere.
The owner was very nice and accommodating. We will definitely come back for any vintage needs in the future.

I used to work across the street, and this place was definitely a regular stop for me. Their selection in jewelry is the main reason why I love this place. Often, I’m complimented on my statement pieces, and they all originate from Gratitude. The owners are super sweet and are constantly sharing stories about the pieces they bring into the store. The funkiest item so far was a creepy-​cool purse made from a toad skin!

Some great finds IF you can find them. I found a woven vest for $ 10 & scarf for $ 6. Bottom line: Way too cluttered for me.

I give this place a solid three stars. I LOVE vintage stores. I seek them out everywhere I go. My passion is 1920’s-1950’s vintage, though this place has less of the older stuff and more of 60’s-80’s, with actually a lot of items less than 20 years old.
However, I met the owners, and they just acquired the store and everything in it from the previous owners. They expressed a goal to go through the store top to bottom and have a big yard sale to eliminate the «newer stuff that creeped in» (her words). So it looks like she wants to bring it back to serious vintage store roots. The owners were very nice and quite willing to haggle on price. I found a gorgeous 1920’s purse I couldn’t live without.
Hats! They do have a hellufoalot of hats, but they are almost exclusively later than 1965. I’m hoping they’ll get some more stock in soon, as I love the older hats.

Tucked off on a little side street you might not notice this spot, but it’s worth locating. They have a great hodge podge of actual vintage stuff (not just 80’s holdovers) and more hats than you can shake a stick at. The staff was helpful and seem to be constantly looking for new stock.

Cool place. I’m not sure it’s really a place to add to one’s wardrobe, it reminded me more of a place you’d go to costume a play. It would probably be pretty difficult to go with something in mind – it’s a place better suited to going in with a vague idea and getting inspired by what you find.
Most of the clothes seemed to belong to the 70s or late 60s. These items are not priced at garage sale prices, either! :/​Even items that weren’t in top shape and were being sold «as is» were still a little high priced, in my opinion.
Lots of hats and shoes, but overall there is no real organization and things are packed in pretty tight. Again, go treasure hunting here with an open mind and the patience to hunt.

LOVE. That’s what it’s all about. The story behind this place is a love story so deep and most will never know it. The current staff is AMAZING, helpful, generous, knowledgable, so sweet and so friendly. This is one of my favorite places on earth.

Some great vintage clothing and accessory finds… some not so great prices. Lots of cool hats, hatpins, broaches, luggage, hatboxes, even kitchenware.
Setup in an old house with creaky floors you feel like you’re shopping in a huge attic.

I was driving by this place with my friend Rosa and we just had to stop! Of course Halloween would be this weekend, so it only made sense to stop and see if we can find anything worthy of our bodies for the weekend.
We found a fur coat, wings and a vintage Texas Ranger shirt! Simple Bliss in that store. I will be going back and I defiantly recommend going a few times. No way can you see all the treasures in one visit!

I love Gratitude Vintage. A very classy collection of clothing. Puts me in the mind of going into someone’s Great Grandmother’s Huge Closet! The owners are super nice and the prices are great! This is one of my faves!

I went back to Gratitude last week to find a pair of shoes for a party. Unfortunately, my feet are so wide that it’s tough to find any that fit. However, I was not disappointed in my stop.
The new owners have done a marvelous job with the space so far. They are still going through a few more items left behind by the previous owners, but I can tell they have worked HARD. Clothes are no longer crammed into the racks. They are better organized, making them easier to look through. There is a nice little display in one of the rooms featuring ladies’ shoes, and I thought, «How nice that they’re not just tossed on the floor!»
No credit card machine, yet, though. Still, I am impressed with the progress they have made.

I used to shop Gratitude back in the mid-90’s when it was in the tiny yellow house down the street. I have always been able to find one of a kind treasures there. Most recently, I dragged my BF there to look around and he scored some vintage cameras, which we have displayed in our living room. You have to be in the mood to dig, but I have always been able to find something to love. The prices are reasonable, and if you’re ever in the market for an 80’s throwback prom dress this is the place! I recently went on a trip to San Francisco which reinstated my love of all things vintage while shopping on Haight Street. I feel a Dallas vintage shopping trip coming on…

small vintage store, a bit messy but thats fine. lots of strange ornaments. i wish they had more tees. most of the clothing here is for women. ill probably be back at some point.

When I walked in the door at Gratitude, I was thrilled. The place was stuffed silly with hats, gloves, stoles, shoes, furnishings, purses and clothes of all kinds. I love sifting through junk looking for treasures. That said, if I have to sift through clothing and shoes haphazardly strewn about and hung so densely on the rack I can’t seperate them to pull anything out, I want a little gratitude for my effort (ha ha). But you won’t find steals at Gratitude. So, a loving piece of advice to the owners: Charge top dollar if you are going to offer me a tidily edited collection of top-​notch vintage (which I think you have in spades). But don’t ask me to pay you more than I’d expect shell out an estate sale if I have to dig through piles of rotting garments to find one item that’s still wearable.

The owners can be both very helpful and very self absorbed. I like their selection although it can fall into the pitfalls that trouble Dallas’ thriftstores: smelly, pricey, and junky. Definitely add this place onto your thriftstore rounds though.

This place has everything! Clothes, records, book, knick-​knacks from many eras gone by. I can see why it has been in business for 20 some odd years. The funny thing is that we stopped in one vintage store (Archive) on the way to Graditude and told the clerk what we were searching for and she said «Oh, you’ll find that at Graditude, for sure»…and we did. A place that has a reputation like that amongst its peers is a rare find.
Graditude is in a curious looking building that certainly does not give you a clue of what you’ll find inside. Overstuffed racks of vintage dresses, suits, and ties fill each room. There was so much stuff to see we could have been there for hours. The clientele ranged from some gentlemen looking for some flair for a pride parade, to SMU kids having a theme party, to me and my sweetie looking for something to rock the next burlesque event. Everyone left satisfied.
The proprietor Marion told me that he and his partner started this as a hobby but eventually turned it into a full-​fledge business. How great that someone gets to make a living doing what they love! I’m sure they will be glad to share their enthusiasm with you.
One warning: there literally is stuff everywhere. Piles of clothes sit on racks, on chairs, on the floor. If you have OCD or just need strong organization, you may feel out of sorts. Try and fight through it, thoug. It will be worth it.

LOVE this place. I dress vintage nearly every day, but I’m on a budget… I can almost always find something here to suit my weird 1950’s inspired tastes. The men’s clothing runs a little on the smaller side (since people were smaller then, of course) so anyone with a waist size over 30 or 32 may have some trouble finding pants here. I was able to snag a couple of gabardine jackets that are FANTASTIC.
The owners are always super friendly and will help you find whatever you may be searching for. Definitely check this place out!

Gratitude is small, but it is literally filled to the brim with anything and everything you can imagine — old books, vintage ladies’ hats, Ferragamo shoes from the ‘60s, autographed photos of Lynn Anderson, um, yeah… things like that.
Seriously though, Gratitude has something for everyone, but be warned — the place is SO packed that it may take a bit of searching.
