Sad this is closed. Heard their lease was up. Place was good. Patio was great. views of the golf course were a bonus…

My friend R walked up to Jake’s for her usual order of cheese fries today around lunch time and saw a sign on the door: This location is closed effective Monday. Sunday will be their last day of business because the lease is up. I called and confirmed, and the girl on the phone cheerily told me they were shutting up shop. Not moving, not temporary, closing completely. The website doesn’t mention this anywhere, you have to go there to see the sign. So at least now it’s somewhere on Unilocal. Jakes in Addison is CLOSEDFOREVER effective 6÷16÷14.

Apparently this is the place to go after Friday night softball games, so I decided to tag along with my team and check it out. I wasn’t impressed. Upon entering, we were greeted by a male server and let him know we were heading out to the patio. He informed us that a server will be with us shortly. No problem. However, three servers passed us up several times within ten minutes, so I took initiative to go back inside to let the male server know. He apologized and proceeded with our drink orders letting us know that another server(flaky girl) will be taking over. After a few minutes, flaky girl comes out with our drinks(had to correct her that one of the drinks was Coke, not Diet Coke) and takes our order. Most of us order burgers — because that is what they are known for, right? One friend orders, and clearly states, a chicken Caesar salad with dressing on the side. I order a single party burger(which does not come with cheese) and ask if they have avocado. She said yes, so I asked for that. Time passes, and our food arrives. Mistake 1– my friend is given a grilled chicken salad with no dressing. The server asks what kind of dressing because she forgot(even though she had a notepad and seemed to be writing everything down?). My friends points out that it’s the wrong salad but keeps it anyway and asks for Caesar dressing… again. Mistake 2– my burger had cheese but no avocado. At this point, male server was helping drop off food, and I asked him for the avocado I ordered. He informed me that they don’t have avocado(thanks for getting my hopes up, flaky girl), but they did have guacamole. I accepted that but should’ve passed because it wasn’t all that great. Mistake 3– Anyone who has ever worked in the restaurant industry knows to prep the table BEFORE the good comes out. This means– make sure everyone has silverware, napkins, ketchup and/or any condiments that would obviously be needed for the good that is to be served. We had to ask for all of this. As for the burger itself, the bun was topped with TONS of sesame seeds, which made a mess everywhere not to mention a person with braces, like me, has a difficult time consuming something that is easily lodged in said braces. Attractive running your tongue trying to dislodge them, let me tell you. The patties are thin and lack flavor; kind of reminds me of an average fast food burger. If I wanted average, I would’ve stopped at Wendy’s. Ummm, the fries were pretty good, though. The two stars go for that and the patio. That’s all I got. Between the less than par food and service, I’m not a fan. I’ll stick with Burger Island, Five Guys, Twisted Root, Braum’s.I’m sure I could go on.

So you’re starving, you don’t want to go anywhere«nice» and you don’t want fast food. Oh and it’s 11pm. Enter Jakes. It was a Saturday night, after we struck out with several other options we decided this was our best bet. We were seated immediately and assured that the kitchen doesn’t close until midnight. We were so relieved because I had just had a temper tantrum in the car. We needed food… NOW. Our server immediately took our drink order. She promptly brought me a perfectly brewed sweet tea. We asked for recommendations, but she mentioned that this was her first shift and she wasn’t sure what was popular yet. Not a problem. My friend ordered the a cheeseburger and sweet potato fries. I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich and chili cheese tots. Our order was out very quickly. I’d expect that from a nearly empty restaurant. Almost all of the hamburgers here are double meat. They’re thin diner style patties though. My friend seemed happy with his burger. Though he did mention it was a bit greasy. My grilled cheese was made with Texas toast and American cheese. It was well buttered and though it could’ve been a little more crisp, it was a textbook grilled cheese. The sweet potato fries were the most perfectly fried crinkle cut fries we’d ever seen. Unfortunately, they were topped with with so much cinnamon-sugar and spices that they were like eating dessert. My tots were OK. The chili had a little too much cumin and was not even slightly spicy. The cheese needed to be a little more melted because it essentially glued the tots to the paper boat they were served in. Overall, Jakes was an adequate place to eat. Not my first choice, but great when options are limited.

I wanted a good burger for lunch and what I got was inedible. Upon entering Jake’s my father & I were greeted by 3 young women who were dressed for the ho stroll not work, though to be fair i think those are«uniforms.» The service was poor. I ordered a mushroom & swiss burger. Not halfway through my burger it fell apart. While chewing the«meat» I bit down on something hard. Not gristle hard but marble hard. This happened twice while eating and i put down the burger. Bottom line is the burger was gross.

How long does it take to fry a potato? About 30 minutes it seems, if you’re at Jake’s during a busy period. Went there on Saturday evening since I had a hankering for their cheese fries which are, in my opinion, the best in the metroplex(why did you close down in Plano, dammit!?) We were seated right away but it was several minutes before a waitress came to take our order. When she did arrive she was friendly and personable, I couldn’t be upset with her for the wait. I ordered a beer and the cheese fries and a grilled chicken club and a beer. The beer arrived, finally and I had drank that and the food wasn’t out. I ordered another beer, which was brought to the table next to me by a different waitress, but I finally got it. Our server came and apologized for the wait, she was waiting on the fries. The food finally arrived. The chicken sandwich was not as good as I remember it being. The chicken looked as if it was roadkill it was so flat. There wasn’t really anything to bite into so didn’t get much of a taste of anything. The cheese fries though, excellent as always. In summary, service was friendly if a little slow, if it’s busy, bring a snack while you’re waiting for your fries. If you want something meaty but not a burger, the chicken may not be what you’re looking for.

Come here fairly regularly. Food is good and consistent. Service is hit or miss. Today the Servers are just huddled up talking and laughing. Playing with each other’s hair. Ignoring the tables. Hostess was great. Happy and energetic, very inviting. Really wish they could get the wait staff to actually give decent service.

This is the second time I’ve been to this Jake’s in recent months. The service is always attentive as it was this last time. Burger was good and hot and cheese fries, cheesy. The only minor issue is they should check the bathrooms more often as one ladies stall was without TP. I’ll go there again.

We went during the evening and our 7 person party was immediately seated. Our waitress name was Kenna and she was so sweet and attentive. I ordered a alcoholic drink but I forgot the name but either it was really good! Let’s get to the good stuff… FOOD! This was food porn… I ordered the jalopeno bottle cap cheeseburger. Honestly without a doubt I can say this was the best burger I’ve EVER had in my entire life. The burger was juicy and had so much flavor and the fried jalopenos added the last minute kick I needed for the burger. i also ordered a side of cajun fries which were great! Overall I love this place! Kenna was great and I enjoyed my time there for my sisters birthday! I will definitely be back without a doubt.

It seems like recently burger joints have been popping up on every street corner. Jake’s has been around awhile, so I expected great things. I sampled the Addison location as well as the Uptown location, and the Addison was definitely my preference, due to easier parking and more space. It doesn’t feel like an authentic burger joint, like the Uptown location, but I suppose that’s because it’s in an old California Pizza Kitchen location. I am a big fan of the patio area(complete with mist-ers for coolness and umbrellas for shade), and also wasn’t at all disappointed in the food. Staff was helpful and friendly, though a little slow at crowded times. Loved the cheeseburger and fries. The meat was juicy and quite full of flavor.

So my boyfriend and I came here on a Friday night, heard the burgers were good so we thought we’d give them a try. After being seated in the bar area out server came over, and she was very odd. Only looked and asked for my boyfriends order didn’t even ask me for my drink order. Needless to say the food wasn’t that great neither was the service.

Gives both Point’s burgers a run for the money, but the Point definitely wins. «Fried brownie» dessert is devilishly tempting but it’s no big deal.

My husband and I dropped by here after reading reviews on the food. It seemed that most people thought it was good. Well, I vehemently disagree. I was originally going to give it a 2 star review because my husband thought the chili on his burger was pretty decent. However, most people will get just a regular old cheese burger, which is what I had and that is what I give a 1 star. I have never tasted a burger that had less flavor. I barely had any onion or pickle on the sandwich. But most importantly the taste was awful. I thought, maybe I’m being too picky, it is a bar after all. No, I have had other bar food that was good. This wasn’t even good. The prices are high, $ 6.99 for the burger alone and then add on a small side of fries that weren’t even that hot. If you want a decent burger go elsewhere. I’d prefer In and Out Burger. Fresh, hot and decent size for the price. I hope this helps you! If you want a cold beer during happy hour, by all means. Just have your beer here and eat somewhere else!

This was my first time visiting Jake’s and I have to say I really enjoyed their happy hour! They have several locations in the DFW but we opted for the Addison location, which I thought was going to be super busy and crowded, but to my surprise, the restaurant is actually pretty large. They have adequate bar seating/space along with booths and seating for larger parties as well. I saw the patio area but didn’t venture out that way so I’m not sure what the ambiance is like outside. I was meeting a friend for happy hour and told the hostess that it didn’t matter where we sat, so she happily walked me to the last booth in the back of the restaurant right next to the bathroom. Yeah. So. No. Let’s try this again? How about we get a table in the bar area… one of the 5 you passed up? Alright. I’ll be sure to have a preference next time. On to the actual happy hour… what’s not to love? $ 2 Appletinis, $ 2 cosmos, $ 3 appetizers…$ 2 bottled domestics… there was something else but I forgot… wine and drafts maybe — -maybe. I had both an appletini and a cosmo — VERYTASTY. The appletini had a little kick to it(just how I like it) and the cosmo was pretty smooth. I ordered the chicken strips and fried green beans and my friend also ordered the chicken strips but with the sweet potato fries. Lord, help me. Everything was so good! The sweet potato fries came with this dip… I think the waitress said it was marshmallow dip? SOGOOD. The fried green beans were great, just the right amount of crispyness(is that a word?) and the chicken strips… you can’t really mess up chicken strips, can you? Overall, a great place to sit down and enjoy happy hour with some friends… I definitely want to come back and try their hamburgers(since this IS a hamburger joint) and their breakfast, an old Unilocal friend of mine use to talk about their pancakes ALL of the time.

This restaurant is pretty big, and they serve everything from burgers to chicken, salads, and other various items. I like the flaming rooster if you don’t want beef, and I’m a fan of the grilled chicken club sandwich. The bbq hamburger is pretty good. I love the sweet potato fries here, and their tator tots are pretty good. The PATIOISHUGE, and they have a great happy hour! This place is perfect for happy hour and hanging out. Service was decent as well. I will come back, nothing that I have tried here has disappointed me.

A family-friendlier version of Hooters? Young, attractive girls walking around with shorts and tank tops. No, we’re here for the sports on wall-to-wall televisions. Jake’s is known for one thing. Burgers. More specifically double-patty burgers. That’s right, twice cow for the price of one. Maybe that’s why fries are extra … I had the Burger of the Month, which was a Basil Pesto burger. The pesto added a unique texture and herb flavor as well as additional moisture. But wished they had something with a fried egg on top … Overall, you are no prepared to eat this burger. This burger is too big for your mouth. Grab a fork and knife or prepared to get messy and chow down. [Original Visit: 5÷12÷13 with my brother]

I got the burger of the month on this visit which was the Flaming Cow. It is a double meat burger with cheese, pico de gallo, bacon, and jalapeños. It’s a very good burger and deserves a mention. Plenty of kick for a unique burger make up. Also, our waitress Jenna did an amazing job and was super friendly. Cheers to you Jenna!

Great Burgers for the price. Met my bf for lunch and he works in the area, Service was slow– guess there was a mix up with who was suppose to be waiting on us, but our server was very nice. I always get the original burger with cheese. This time I had the cheeseburger which is huge! But I still continued to eat every bite of it! Love the big patio and is pretty packed during lunch!

The food was really good. Sweet tea was delish!!! We came during a slow time. The service wasn’t top notch. But if you like burgers, this is a good place to go. Highly recommend sweet potato fries.

Hey, it’s a hamburger joint, not my favorite kind of place. But, after shopping with BFF,(he was driving), that’s where we ended up. It’s a nice quiet atmosphere; pleasant décor with really comfy booths and a large bar area, which would be great for sipping and watching sports. TV’s everywhere; not a seat in the house would be void of a large flat screen in your view. It was okay. Not being a huge fan of the all American favorite food, I only occasionally enjoy, maybe 2 – 3 times a year. Best experiences being this year @ Angry Dog and Stackhouse. Those were pretty darn good and could influence me to indulge more often. Ordered the single patty with tomato, grilled onions and Jake’s famous Hickory Sauce, with a side of Onion Rings which we split. BFF had the Frito Pie Burger. My oh my, talk about a loaded Poppy Seed Bun; it was covered in those black little seeds. Not bad at all. The buttery juiciness of the huge lump of perfectly seasoned grilled onions made this protein pretty flavorable. The hickory sauce was a nice accent to the onions and beef. The thick beer battered onion rings were decent. Prefer Strings instead of Rings, but these passed the muster with a little added salt. BFF said his burger didn’t have much flavor. Observed him adding salt, which is a rarity for him. He said it didn’t help much, but not a morsel was left in the basket. Back to that… the basket. I was surprised to see our meal served in a blue plastic basket at a sit-down dine in restaurant. BFF looked at me, and asked«did we just do drive through?» Me, «Are we @ Keller’s?». Very interesting. Service was a «5». Andrea was friendly, checked on us appropriately, cheerfully brought items we forgot to ask for the first time around. Couldn’t have been better. Burger very inexpensive @ $ 5.95. Just one little quirk… my check was $ 19.87(including the burger, ½ of the onion rings, 1 beer and 1 bloody mary, which BTW, was quite tasty, but pricey @ $ 9.00). I gave her two 20 dollar bills, asking for change for one of the twenties(for the tip). She brought me back only change for one 20 dollar bill, but not the $.13 cents change from the other twenty. It appears that she rounded up my check from $ 19.87 to $ 20.00. Very very curious. I made no issue with it but left wondering if this is their common practice. You probably won’t find me back @ Jake’s anytime soon unless BFF is driving and he pulls in and parks. Just not my type of options in my food chain. But, it was not an unpleasant experience for a quick in and out in a pretty comfortable environment.
