Specialties

I specialize in Windows-​based desktop and laptop computers. I work with all makes and models. I deal with hardware and software issues, system performance, malware removal, part replacement, cleaning, wired/​wireless networking, and basic data recovery*. I also deal with internet connectivity issues and speak «Tier-​one-​ese» for handling 3rd-​party tech support calls outsourced to India/​Pakistan (so you don’t have to).

*Refers to hard drives that physically work and are seen by the system, but cannot be properly accessed or read by Windows (such as file system errors).

History

Established in 2006.

I started out subcontracting part-​time in 2004 for a small tech firm in DFW.

By 2005, enough work came in that I dropped my part-​time job at a game store to take it up full-​time.

2006 rolls around. Work is slow, payment from the contractor is even slower. Established company mid-​year, kept separate client list from contractor. (I’m such a nice guy.)

2007, I stop sub-​contracting and run solo from then on. I haven’t looked back since!

I grew up with computers. My first one was a Commodore Vic-​20. (I feel old…)

I actually remember my father being the first in our neighborhood to buy a PC. It was a Commodore 8086, the first «IBM Clone» to market. It had a MASSIVE 10MB hard drive. We got it at Service Merchandise. (I STILL miss that place.)

My father’s hobby became a way of life for me. I destroyed my first motherboard trying to upgrade a 486 processor (before «ZIF» sockets… screwdrivers and motherboards do NOT mix.)

Years pass… skills grew… trained for programming in the USAF… medical discharge… retail work… tech work… back to retail after lay-off…random repair «jobs» for friends, family, and parental colleagues… move to Texas.

My laptop went completely dead on me and off I go to Jerry’s because I needed a quick fix, after reading good reviews on Unilocal.He was nice and courteous enough, easily reachable by phone/​txt. But professional and time-​efficient? Not really. It took him nearly a week to get back to me with vague ideas of the extent of the problem, and another week of waiting twiddling my thumbs before calling him to find out that he still hasn’t worked on the invoice of the items needed to buy yet. I finally became impatient so i got it back, of course no refund, and took it to a family friend who knew computers and he was able to tell me the extent of the problems within 2 days, and return it back to me a day after the orded items arrived. This took less than a week. This friend did it while he had his own work to do. Maybe Jerry was having bad week or something, but if you want something fixed really quickly, I’d suggest looking elsewhere.

SO, I come home from work, tired, hungry and want to escape into the land of gaming. Turn my computer on and nothing. Called Jerry at 8:30…Yes, 8:30 on what I fondly call a school night. Jerry was amazing. The next day, I packed up my baby and off to Jerry’s. OMG… Got my baby back today and she is amazing. Jerry is amazing. He is honest, reliable, knowledgeable and a all around nice guy. Cannot believe how luck I am that I found him. I am so happy that I did not have to go to one of those big box places. Jerry took the time out to explain to me what was wrong, what I needed and what was possible to complete within my budget. Yes, my budget! Not his. He gave me two different options and his professional opinion which was not the most expensive option. Try him! You will not be sorry. Super nice guy.

A friend of ours had used Jerry at his business a couple of years ago and highly recommended him. We logged the contact info onto IPhone just in case, especially since he was an independent, small business.
Just before Christmas our HP Envy 17 Laptop was totally frozen by ransomware, the first time ever for a problem at home. We called Jerry, he answered right away and he was well aware of the problems related to this type of computer attack. He offered the option of coming to the house or having us drop it off at his location. We took it to him and asked him to look into a few other issues. He provided an estimate (VERY fair and honored), requested a small deposit and, since it was Christmas weekend we expected a long down time. He called right after the holiday and had it ready to go. He took extra time to explain what he had done and how it worked on our unit.
After running it through its paces for a few days, a couple of glitches surfaced that were not related to his repairs but were evidently affected by the attack. We called Jerry late that afternoon. What we were experiencing was complicated but he got right on it. He logged into our Laptop from home at about 7 pm and stayed on it until 1 am, totally clearing up the problem areas and resulting in a machine that worked faster and cooler than when purchased new a year ago! NO EXTRA CHARGE.
A really nice guy, who is fair, honest and excellent at his craft. Highly Recommended.

Call Jerry if you have computer problems or questions. He’s very knowledgeable, and will deal with you in a straightforward, fair way, and answer questions (even fairly ignorant ones) with patience. He seemed to me to be very thorough, working through a lot of problems, and achieving a computer working much better than it had before the problems that sent me in search of help. Good work. I didn’t ask him about hairdressers, but may yet do so.

I took a chance recommending this guy based on previous reviews on Unilocal,and I have no regrets. My daughter, a struggling college student, was in distress because her laptop was on the blink. The IT people I use are too far from where she lives so it was best to find someone closer to her. She called Jerry and left a message and within a couple of days, he had her laptop. For a small deposit, he took the laptop and ran tests to find out what it was going to take to repair, because it obviously suffered from a virus attack. He gave my daughter a fair estimate for costs of repairs and a ready date. She approved, he repaired, and now everybody is happy!!! Painless transaction.

Our phone line was struck by lightning and made a mess of our modem, router and desktop. Jerry sorted through the damage, saved what equipment he could, replaced the damaged and in addition improved our home network. We have a desktop and two laptops and a wireless printer, all are working wireless better than before! Would would have not been able to sort and repair the damage by ourselves without losing our sanity. Fair price and good work.

Well the term «Geek-​In-​A-​Box» comes to mind! LOL Just kidding.
This is an amazing person who handles almost anything you can think of computer related. If anything happens to your computer or you just simply need extra security on it give him a call.
He is wonderful at figuring out what your computer needs. My computer simply had a mind of it’s own and was protesting the Internet. He gave it a good wake up call and voila, my computer works!!!
I have absolutely no computer knowledge and he broke down the things I needed to know in lay mans terms!!! That makes me feel so much better and less like an idiot. I absolutely hate tech guys that try to appear smarter than you.
The rates are very reasonable. You can call to make an appointment and he will visit your home or business. You can also drop off your hardware.
So the next time you use your computer for a coaster or target practice and need it fixed give him a call. Don’t bother with an out of the US tech phone operator!
