I love this place! We used to live in Italy and we were missing Italian goodies. Now we can get them whenever we want! We are so grateful for this place!

Had to stop by here after reading reviews and it was astonishing! It was really convenient getting here in the middle of East Dallas! The wait was a little long for my experience, but it was too worth it! Had the Italian sub, which was amazing, and their meatballs were cooked well.

Amazing place. Get the Hot Italian Beef or the Cold Italian Stallion or try both. Great Italian deli with great good sandwiches, true Italian products, local ice cream and antipasti. Hot beef for those windy and cool kind of days where you need a pick me up. Italian Stallion for those hot and hungry days.

All of you fellow Yankees yearning for the tastes of the homelands– this is the place for you. Though I’ve certainly had my share of pleasant experiences of the sandwich variety in this wonderful little shop, I’m going to focus largely on the impeccable selection of packaged specialties. As a resident of the New York City area for many years, now in Dallas, I have found that this business is nothing less than a godsend. The soda section alone is a source of bliss– Moxie, Manhattan Special of all flavors, and the holy grail… Dr. Brown’s Cel-Ray. The last is an acquired taste even amongst New Yorkers, and to enjoy it freely in Texas is SUCH a blessing. Another delight– they offer imported Brioschi on the shelf in plentiful amounts. If you are unfamiliar with this cure-all, I implore you to look it up, and give it a try. The shop also offers its own sauces in jars– give those a go, too. Otherwise, there really are too many treasures within those walls to describe adequately in a brief review– take a good while to explore, and try some new delights as well as old favorites.

Absolutely the BESTITALIANMARKET in Texas! We had some sandwiches from the meat counter made fresh. They were huge and DELISH! And don’t even get me started on their cannoli… The best I have had since living in NYC!

Worth the trip to experience this New York /Jersey style deli… Stopped in for lunch and had the Italian sub, and while there I just had to try their meatballs. So good! Tender meatballs, homemade sauce, piping hot. Sub was good too. But what I’m still craving is some more of that hard salami and the tomato vodka sauce that we picked up and brought home. Next dinner party we have we’re stopping here for supplies. Will make it so easy… And so good. Place is kind of in the hood, but it’s an interesting experience that you should enjoy.

This place had everything. Amazing meats, cheeses and beverages of alllll kinds. The Muffuletta was amazing, will definitely come back to try other sandwiches… I mean Meatballs calling my name. I also took home fresh pasta which was tasty as well. I appreciated how quick and easy getting the food was, small tables make space a premium but everything is so quick the tables empty quick as well. I will be sure to be back as soon as possible… might take a few trips to cover the menu and all the other things to eat and enjoy!

Now this place is amazing and a must for any Foodie in DFW or traveling through. We learned about this store from the Texas Highway magazine which featured an article on it in the April 2016 issue. The article was right on the mark in describing the store and I am so thankful that we cam the first weekend after we learned about it. Tucked away in a neighborhood in Northeast Dallas Jimmy’s provides you with a wonderful location to get all your Italiain food fix. If you are planning your trip you should definitely bring a cooler with you for all your great purchases. Here are some things to look for and try. Be sure to get some meatballs. These meatballs are made using mom’s recipe and you can tell. The flavors were excellent and they were easy to defrost and cook up by browning them in the skillet and then cooking at 375 for 15 minutes. The whole family agreed that these were the best meatballs we have ever had. In the far wall cooler we picked out a container of fresh pasta, and homemade vodka sauce. We made the pasta for Sunday night dinner and loved all of it. Also in the back wall cooler is a selection of craft and imported brews. They allow you to select singles and build your own six pack which is great if you want to try a variety. These were the highlights for this trip, but there is so much more. All kinds of olive oils, imported tomatoes in cans, dried pastas sauces. There are literally hundreds of items that you are not going to find in your local store. The deli and meat counters are amazing. You can not forget the huge wine selection as well. Jimmy’s is something that you need to know about if you want real Italian food deep in the heart of Texas.

Delicious sandwiches and gourmet Italian items hard to find in other stores make Jimmy’s a destination! We ordered sandwiches and went shopping, loading up on Italian cookies and an amazingly peppery dark green olive oil that will be my indulgence on simple salads. I can use the rest of my EVOO from the Philadelphia Italian Market now without wondering when will I find more of equal quality? JIMMY’S — that’s where. This store is worth a trip just to look and see all the varieties of cheeses, house-made sausages and Italian goodies on offer. 5 stars!

Jimmy’s Food Store is an Italian market in downtown Dallas known for its deli. Most Unilocal reviews will guide you to some amazing sandwiches. But at its core, Jimmy’s is a true Italian grocery. If you come only for a sandwich, you owe it yourself to return to shop for groceries. This review focuses on this experience. My Overall Rating — 5 Stars(Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere — Parking is a challenge and it’s downtown, but Jimmy’s will never leave this location(I hope) so we have to get over it. Walk in, grab a shopping cart, and start making your way inside. It’s small and narrow, but you’ll have plenty of great Italian goods surrounding you. The refrigerators are filled with fresh pastas, sauces, dough and more. Plenty of wine available. The deli is in the back where you can order your meats & cheeses(or sandwiches during lunch). There’s even seating in a wine tasting room in the back with more seating. It’s authentic. It’s unique. It’s real. 1 Star. Service — There’s only one register in the front for checkout, and they’ll get you in and out. If you only want a sandwich for lunch, just make your way to the back where the deli is, get in line, and they’ll take care of you. Remember, Jimmy’s is a market. You can get more than just sandwiches. If you want to put together your own charcuterie plate at home, just come when it’s not lunch & pick from the best Italian meats available. Jimmy’s is run by good people. 1 Star. Food — The sandwiches are fantastic, but Jimmy’s has some fantastic items in the refrigerator that you need to check out. One of my favorite desserts is a Cappuccino Pie. This is essentially a coffee/ice cream pie that is as delicious as it sounds. Pick one up & serve it at home and I guarantee your guests will want to know where it came from. If you like fresh pasta, you can pick up a number of pre-made pastas, from assorted raviolis to lasagna, you can pick up dinner and pretend you made it. Jimmy’s also has a number of sauces you can choose and fresh pizza dough($ 2!) so you can build whatever you want. And if you like wine, you can pick up a bottle or two as well. Prosciutto? Yes. Hot sopressata? Yes, please. Fresh Mozzarella? Shut up and take my money. 2 Stars. Will I Return? — Yes. In fact, we come to Jimmy’s for its groceries more than we do for its sandwiches. That being said, I will drive out of my way to grab some fresh pasta and that Cappuccino Pie. It’s a true Italian grocery in Dallas which makes it even more special. 1 Star. My Unilocal Rating Scale(Sum of all parts): 1 Star — Atmosphere — Is it a cool dive? Perhaps an upscale place? No matter the type, atmosphere plays a big part and I’ll give a star if I like it or thinks it has great charm. 1 Star — Service — You can have a great meal with bad service. But that’s also what can make a five star joint drop to four. It’s important to the dining experience that service is great and on point. 2 Stars — Food — I’ll award up to two stars for the food, since this is the main reason we dine out. Sometimes the extra star is given for value, but it’s really all about the food. 1 Star — Will I come back? — If I know for a fact I’ll return, I’ll give this a star. A place has to make an impression for me to return. Each Category can be given up to 1 star except food(2 stars) because I consider all these categories important to the overall dining experience. I will sum them up to provide my final Unilocal score.

I LOVEJIMMY’S! My friend used to go on and on about this place and finally we decided to meet there for lunch. Walking in I wasn’t impressed until I walked around this tiny grocery store. They carry so many authentic Italian items as well as local products. You can buy fresh homemade pasta, a pan of fresh lasagne, Italian meats, fresh desserts and so on. In the back they have a meat counter and a deli counter. You can order hot food from the deli and they make it fresh. I’ve had many hot Italian beef sandwiches in my life but this one left me craving Jimmy’s at least once a week. It was sooooooo good! So full of beef, fresh mozzarella and topped with a spicy veggie blend. The sandwich was so wet and juicy like a real Italian beef sandwich should be. If you want wine with your lunch just tell the cashier either red or white and they will pour it for you. It wine on tap but it’s still decent. There is seating in the front of the store or they have a hidden wine cave in the back. The only way to get to it is to walk through the deli kitchen into the back. I love this place! I’ve taken so many people there and all have been impressed with what they ordered and the ambiance Jimmy’s provides.

I stopped here a few weeks ago with a co-worker for lunch. Jimmy’s has been on my radar for quite some time and I was excited to finally be able to stop and try it out. Walking into the store, I was taken back in time. I was also overwhelmed by all of the deliciousness beckoning me to buy & eat. I ordered the prociutto panino. It was ginormous. I seriously ate off of this sandwich for days. It can easily be split between two people and maybe even three or four if you have a salad or chips to go with it. Make sure you order this served warm. The highlight of the sandwich was the homemade mozzarella. Location has minimal parking, but it was sufficient when we went. I was 2able to grab a space right near the front. The inside can be overwhelming with all of the products. In fact, it is borderline messy & disorganized. This was not a deterrent at all for me and I thoroughly enjoyed my time and my eats from Jimmy’s!

My favorite Unilocal find EVER… seriously takes me back to my trips to Italy because it’s filled with charm. It’s obvious that it’s no secret with 500+ Unilocal reviews. So it’s an Italian specialty food store/wine shop. Aisles of pasta, oils, and in the fridges were pans of lasagna you could take home, raviolis, cheeses, ice cream. All hand crafted specialty stuff! In the back is a butchers case and a small board propped at the far right and now we need to talk about the sandwiches. We asked the man behind the counter what he recommended and he said definitely the meatball or sausage sandwich because the meats are made in house as well as the Marinara sauce(he points to cooks stirring big pots of sauce as he says this). SOLD obviously! We then asked him to recommend a cold sandwich and he pointed at the prosciutto panino. As we paid, the cashier said if we couldn’t find a table up front check the wine room in the back. You walk through the kitchen to get there. Love that! Nice and quiet and big tables if you are a larger group. So the meatballs were incredibly tender, marinara sauce perfect, and the mozzarella so fresh! We raved at each bite. All for $ 6.99 each. You can have a glass of wine for $ 4 or grab a beer from the fridge to go with your meal. Next time I’m in Dallas… this will be my place for lunch and I will be going home with everything to make a perfect Italian dinner too.

Quick look rating: 5⁄5 Food & Quality, 5⁄5 Service, 5⁄5 Experience, 5⁄5 Will I return My first time experience was when my dad came into town, he had gone and picked up ingredients from Jimmy’s while I was at work. We cooked at home for a family meal and it was divine, even the wine that was picked up from Jimmy’s. The next time we had food catered from Jimmy’s at a fly fishing film at Tailwaters Fly fishing company. Snack tray’s if you will and they were fantastic! The next time was a Unilocal UYE on writing better reviews at Bryan Street Tavern. From what I understood, a large number of fresh ingredients came from Jimmy’s to make their pizza’s which are fantastic! Next time I came across Jimmy’s we were at an AM pub crawl across the street. I sweet Unilocal friend of mine came back from Jimmy’s and insisted I try a bite of her melted sandwich! The bite was so good it would curl your toes! Another time I picked up fellow Unilocaler Trihn and we joined a UYE at Jimmy’s. I picked out two different sandwiches and a small glass of wine. I wanted to taste the sandwiches, and bring the rest back home, which was an excellent idea! Both sandwiches were excellent, but I was really trying to focus on everyones conversation! The UYE was a hoot and should be done again! Every time go into Jimmy’s or try their food, I become a bigger fan of theirs! Their customer service has always been top notch and very informative! The place is clean and has a number of fun products that are fantastic! So many areas they can cover like catering trays, sandwiches, and Italian wines. One hint for you guy’s and want a fun hint if your from out of town staying in one of the local hotels with your close female friend. Call Jimmy’s ahead of time and have them create a tasting/party tray and get a bottle of champagne or an Italian bottle of vino from Jimmy’s! Pretty darn romantic if you ask me! Highly recommend Jimmy’s Food store!

What a fun place to visit! Jimmy’s sits in the middle of a semi-sketchy area, but it feels like being transported to a homey shop in Italy once you step in. The cozy store has a few aisles of Italian canned/jarred goods, dry pastas, treats, and lots and lots of wines @.@ and they stock fresh pastas(find your squid ink pasta here!), cheeses, marinara, and even local ice cream. There is even balls of fresh pizza dough you can take back for an amazing«make-your-own-pizza» date night! It was pretty fun browsing through all the items ^^ In the back is a olive /butcher /deli area~ want 29283 types of olives? Blocks of cheeses, a variety of sausages(broccoli rabe sausage, anyone?), tiramisu, or made to order sandwiches? It’s all there! The sandwiches are pretty popular(see all those muffeleta photos), and the wait can be long if there are a lot of people~ I ordered the prosciutto panino sandwich and was surprised at how good a cold sandwich could be! The bread was freshly toasted and slightly warm, the creamy fresh mozzarella toned down the salty brine of the prosciutto, and I enjoyed the EVOO flavor in every bite ^^ the«small» size($ 8) was really enough for 2 meals! Mmmm, can’t wait to try the leftovers that have been marinating overnight in the fridge :) pretty sure you can’t go wrong with any of their sandwiches~ They also have dinner and wine nights($ 45 – 85? For a 4 – 5 course dinner with wine tastings) in the back room that sound great for date nights or girls’ night out~ Sign up for their newsletter online if you want details~ Be sure to stop by Jimmy’s if you’re in the area; it’s a gem. Parking is a bit limited, but you can park at the nearby neighborhood– definitely worth the short walk!

The closest to a real Italian market in Dallas — so I have mixed feelings for this place. Happy that there’s something vaguely Italian, and unhappy that it’s not Italian enough. But for Italian-Americans, this probably will be sufficient for them. Real Italians would, however, complain. And I’m siding with the real Italians, thinking that this place is overhyped, even after coming here twice to see if my opinion would change. Most«fresh» pasta is imported from New York, not really happy with that(how fresh can it be if it’s imported, in the first place?). Additionally, the fresh pasta is limited to the basic white pasta and the tricolor(mix of white, red bell pepper and green spinach). No mushroom pasta or anything more unique. No pastries except for profiteroles and my sister cookies cake(whatever that is). Some pickled items, dressings and preserves are made in store. Limited baked goods(just saw Italian bread and focaccia — also made off site by another company). Good number of Italian dried products, direct from Italy. This was good. The espresso bar was nice, especially considering an espresso was just $ 1. But there’s not really a good selection of Italian sweets or pastries to accompany the coffee. But probably that’s the point — it caters more toward the to-go crowd, since there really isn’t enough tables and chairs(they were always full whenever I visit).

I heart Jimmy’s It’s like foodie heaven when you walk in! This place smells amazing. It just makes you want to buy try eat EVERYTHING!!! The staff are so friendly! Their local wine expert is this lovely older gentleman full of charm and very knowledgable of the wine From what I’ve heard, many local chefs make a stop to this place. I am very happy after it had a serious burn, they chose to rebuild and stay in the area. Places like this are hard to come by. And now I’m craving a sandwich from their deli. NomNomNom

I will be back, and that’s a promise. On a day where I was craving Italian, but didn’t want the typical pizza or pasta, Jimmy’s saved the day. It is an Italian market with a wine party in the front and deli in the back(party in the front, business in the back!). The ambiance is lively and rustic, almost like experiencing an European farmer market. The deli serves hot and cold Italian sandwiches with more meat than your typical Subway footlong. The Food: Hot Italian Beef Sandwich: Having this sandwich is like having a roast beef dinner and a cup of earthy soup. The sandwich gets a little wet from the gravy, so make sure you eat it immediately. It is very beefy and meaty, but balanced out by the pickled vegetables. The pickled vegetables makes this sandwich unique, since it restores your palette from the beefiness. All these elements combined with the sweet roll makes this sandwich a complete philosophical thought: beefy, sour, earthy, sweet… I need another bite. The Cold 12in. Italian Stallion Sandwich: Their famed Italian cold cut masterpiece. 12 legitimate inches of 7 types of cold cuts; including Mortadella, Capicola, Sopressata, Pepperoni, Provolone, Porketta, Coppa, Prosciutto; and romaine lettuce, onions, and tomatoes. At $ 7.99, this sandwich can easily fill 2 hungry citizens. The meats do not overpower each other, but instead work together to create a deep community of meaty flavor in your mouth. Make sure you take a bite with all the elements and savor the flavor. NOTE: I went with the honey wheat option which made the meal a little more hearty, but definitely worth it! The Atmosphere: Once you walk through those doors, you see many grocers having a friendly drink. Wine enthusiasts, pick up a glass and enjoy the siesta with the locals! The deli in the back is all business, churning out fresh sandwiches for the audience. Wine and sandwiches will be the next big foodie trend, expect it! The Verdict: Get the Hot Italian Beef or the Cold Italian Stallion. Or be like me and get both to try! Hot beef for those windy and cool kind of days where you need a pick me up. Italian Stallion for those hot and hungry days. Affordable place with a vivacious environment. You won’t want to go back to the fast food places. Take me back to this Bohemian Rhapsody.

Charming and authentic! I stopped by Jimmy’s on my way back to Houston while driving through Dallas and I’m so happy I did. The market itself is so quaint and cute, not to mention the amazing smell that wafts in the moment you step inside. I didn’t buy anything but all the foods were really cool and I loved walking around and looking at the different authentic pastas, sauces, and wines while I waited for my order. The counter to order food to go(you can eat outside since there are a few tables, but Jimmy’s is really more of a grab and go kind of place) is way in the back, and you give your order to one of the butchers. I got the 6 in muffuletta, and it was seriously so huge — and only $ 7! But I’d probably only give the food itself a 3⁄5 — it was definitely tasty but I could only eat half of it, and I wouldn’t say it was so amazing that I couldn’t help but to eat the other half. Also it was ridiculously oily. I was lucky I had tons of napkins in my car because otherwise I would have had to stop at a gas station to get paper towels or something. But the place itself was so cool and the grocery options were awesome and authentically unique. From what I saw, the groceries were well-priced, and the sandwiches certainly were. It’s just a fun place to check out whether you want food or just to explore a little.
