History

Established in 1998.

Lakewood Piano Lab, formerly known as «Piano Lessons by Wade Cottingham» started in 1998 when Wade became exhausted with a career programming accounting software for the oil and gas industry. He wanted to return to his first love, music and piano, and started by teaching a handful of students. The roster grew to 60 students a week. All lessons are taught by Wade with a high degree of individualized guidance. Many neighborhood familes have chosen to continue with Lakewood Piano Lab year after year, adding the younger kids to the schedule once they are old enough.

Business Owner

Wade C. runs Lakewood Piano Lab and teaches all the lessons. Wade is a native of Dallas, Texas. His musical training and experience includes lessons with Nadine Johnson, Jac Murphy, Dr. Armstrong at Austin College, various teachers at the Royal Academy of Music in London, and several legendary teachers at the former North Texas State University and recently, an intense couple of days with Tamir Hendelman in Los Angeles.

His lessons feature highly individualized guidance, improvisation, group play, as well as learning to play well by ear and with music-​reading, and technical training. His lessons are normally considered «fun»! At annual recitals and summer camps, students get to show off their skills.
