The food? Pretty good. Pizza and risotto were great. Salads were eh. Dessert was AWESOME… some brownie-ice cream thing oozing warm chocolate on the dessert plate. Waitstaff were nice. It seems like they are spread too thin. Loooong waits for ordering, for food, for the check. I hate that. I want to see my server nearby when I need him/her. I don’t want my server to be rushed to answer my questions. Very annoying. I don’t fault the server. The management needs to spoon out some cash for an extra server or two, and that would result in repeat customers. Food was between okay and good, but probably won’t be going back. It’s really great for the convenience of dining somewhere after a day of shopping etc.

I’ve been here a few times. The first time, I came here with a bunch of friends, hoping there was some kind of happy hour menu. There wasn’t really a «true» happy hour, but nonetheless, we still had a great time! I love their pizzas. We ordered 3 pizzas and family style’d it. The atmosphere is quiet yet upscale. The patio is super fun! Especially when the weather is amaaazing!(It’s a great place to people watch too!) The bartender is friendly and remembers your drink(that’s kind of nice)! It’s definitely worth trying!

It seems most of the criticism here are for the service, but our service was fine. My criticism was the food. I order a panini and my wife a cob salad. My first surprise was the panini was on typical(unbutered) white bread instead of focacia or something similar. The next surprise was that there was no sauce of any sort on the sandwich. Lastly the chicken was so over cooked(poached?) that the texture was rubber. The pomme frites were good. My wife said that her salad tasted fine but I didn’t want to try it because the appearance was so sad that it was completely unappetizing. There was no green to the iceberg lettuce at all and the brown dressing just made it look sad. I wouldn’t have served something that looked like this plate at my house. The space was nice and the service was good. I really don’t relish leaving a bad review but those are the best things I can say.

I’m saddened by the bad reviews of this place, so I figured I would share my 10+ experiences here. Food is so wonderful, I come for brunch or dinner or happy hour. Honestly any time I can convince someone I’m at the mall to come here I do. For dinner their pastas are heavenly, for brunch their bottomless bellinis(the best bartender is the guy I see on Sundays, african-american with glasses in a black shirt, never asked his name but he makes killer drinks), happy hour half price apps are a yes! I would be taking away 1 star for inconsistancy of service as 1 or 2 times the wait for certain things such as bill or getting asked what we want for drinks takes too long. But here’s what earns the star back. One time my fiancé needed ranch(he needs ranch with everything) they didn’t have ranch and he wasn’t able to enjoy his meal as much. The waiter noticed and they went to another restaurant to get ranch so he could fully enjoy his meal. Another time for brunch we had enjoyed bellinis for a while and as we were leaving it was 30 seconds left in the bulls game, seeing my fiancé eyeing the game the manager handed us more drinks and told us to sit at the bar and drink more while the game finished. He was so friendly. Another time when the service to get our food for brunch was taking forever, the waitress made it all worth it. She kept yelling at the kitchen for us and every time I would start to finish a drink a new one would be brought to me. She kept apologizing and even took some things off the bill without us being upset or fussing.(Apparently the chef didn’t know how to make my oatmeal…) So good food, sometimes not the fastest service, but excellent staff. Thank you for giving me drinks that keep on coming!

If you are considering Cibus for brunch, save yourself the time and money and don’t bother. Go to one of the sister restaurants, Taverna or Penne Pomodoro instead. I went for brunch today with a group of girl friends and we were seated in the extra room all by ourselves. As a result, we seemed to be constantly forgotten about by our waiter. I ordered the chopped salad which was very disappointing. In all of my friends’ brunch plates, their potatoes were undercooked. When we asked for the check at the end of the meal, it took nearly 20 minutes for them to get it to us. Needless to say, we will not be going back to Cibus anytime soon. Hopefully things improve, because they have a beautiful outdoor seating area in the courtyard for warmer weather.

I really enjoyed the set up of this place. Kinda ritzy, big tables, small ones, private areas. Awesome patio that you’ll forget your at the mall! Came for brunch with a group(of course) and after staring at the brunch menu, I ordered Anna’s Omelet. I asked the waitress(Ashley) her recommendation but she stared at me blankly. When she finally responded, I didn’t go with her selection since she really didn’t sound reassuring. If I was gonna have one of those, «I wish I would have ordered…», it was gonna be my fault, not someone else. They do have bottomless Mimosa and Bellini which were great… if you flagged down for a refill. It added fun to our table since the service was REALLY lacking. The place didn’t seem to be very busy, but we had to continually ask for items and she didn’t really pay much attention to us. There was a point when one of the managers(nice lady) noticed empty cups and us twiddling our thumbs, she asked if we needed anything and helped out. I mean, it wasn’t hard. 6 people, nothing complicated, no one was acting crazy. I actually saw three other tables that were seated after us, get their food, had an awesome server, received the checks and were out. Maybe she was having a bad day? I dunno. We had to even ask for table bread since she never brought any out. The food on the other had was quite good. Mine was a healthy item, consisting of egg whites and fruit, while the others had pizza(little greasier than I like) and Eggs Benedict. Everyone was happy with their meals and nothing was left to waste. I’d love to come back to eat but afraid I could have spent my time somewhere more enjoyable. It’s a pity that I can go to In-N-Out and ALWAYS receive OUTSTANDING service… Either way, you food was great Cibus.

The only reason I give this place 3 stars is because of the slow and unattentive service given to my table of 6. I think the manager paid more attention to us than the actual server. It’s a small cute restaurant located inside Northpark mall, so if you want to take a break from retail therapy, come here. The bottomless mimosa was so AWESOME, that I helped myself to 4 of it for $ 7.50(may as well get my money’s worth). Majority of the table ordered off the brunch menu, and it was just like any other brunch place, it was good. I did however try a slice of their pizza, and it was delicious! I will definitely come back and try something else off the menu, not to shabby for a restaurant in the mall.

My husband and I love Cibus so much, we go almost every weekend. My absolute favorite dish is the tagliolini, but I have enjoyed everything I’ve eaten there. The sauces are tasty, the pasta is freshly made, and the service is great. The caprese salad and the carpaccio appetizer are also favorites. My husband usually orders the butternut squash capellacci. The portions are always just the right size. Cibus is a gem tucked away in North Park mall. When the weather is nice it has a large patio, which is great for people watching. They have a great brunch menu as well; the Cibus Benedict is delightful. Unlimited mimosas for $ 7. Next time you’re at North Park and want Italian, skip Maggiano’s and try Cibus!

Cute little place at North Park Mall. We came here for brunch. I ordered the Mimosa and it was great. I helped myself to 3 glasses of it ha! I got the Irish Oatmeal Brulee and it was awesome. It has the right amount of toasted almonds and raisins. It also has Maple Syrup which makes it perfectly sweet. My friend had ordered the Parmesan Risotto and OMG it was so good. The bellinis here are really good too! I will come back and try out other things on this menu.

I brunch at all opportunities. Which really means, I brunch on the weekends when I can get my friends together for some eats and mimosas. I like a good bottomless deal for brunch. Cibus offers that with 7.50 bottomless, when you order an entrée. Guess what would make this better? If your server liked you and kept your drinks coming, instead of lingering. So far Lombardi restaurants have had the same shtick for me. Looks good, menu reads well, food and service are just passable. Not bad, not great, just mediocre. Cibus fit the same mold I have begun to expect. It was super simple to set up a reservation for my group of 6. We requested a patio table and although they had one seat awkwardly set up along the corner of the building, it worked for our group. We just ended up putting our skinny bitch friend in that seat. I ordered the eggs al forno. It was good. But it was eggs, sausage, potatoes and a bread when it comes down to it. Sure there was a smidge of truffle oil in the mix but ehhhh. Someone at our table requested some extra ketchup(Cibus being the type of place that brings you your ketchup in one of those small metal cups) and the extra came out ¼th full. When she finished that and requested another, the server rolled his eyes. sigh. Sometimes I feel like when the large group gratuity has been met, they don’t so much bother. I’d keep it in mind for a central brunch location, it’s obviously in the perfect place for some buzzed shopping afterward, but it may not always be first to mind.

I had the worst server ever! He couldn’t have been more uninterested in us if he tried. Besides that, the butternut squash I had was really good. The servings here are smaller than most places I’ve been and disappointing for the price of $ 14. Overpriced!

North Park Centre — Lombardi’s Cibus… While Kona has been officially captured and conqured by Jersey Shore, on the other side of North Park, Cibus quietly charms a decidedly more sophisticated crowd. Better SERVICE — the bart tenders let you sample the drinks and say more than«KEEPTABOPEN or CLOSED?» Better DRINKS — hellllooo frozen bellini Better FOOD — California Pizza… wow… even my salad was delicious Better AMBIENCE — Have you seen the courtyard area between North Park and Louis Vuitton? IT is like modern/zen/urban/sleek/sexy and all those buzz words people use to entice you to go to some place in DALLAS, except this time it’s ALLTRUE! I hope this place doesn’t get run over by Snookie and friends… right now it is perfectly low-key.

I came here for dinner one evening with a group of four other friends. None of us had tried this place before; we’d seen its lackluster ratings on Unilocal but were willing to give a Lombardi restaurant the benefit of the doubt.(I mean who doesn’t like Taverna, right?) The disappointing evening began right at the start from my getting greeted by a snippy, curt, and unhelpful hostess. Me: «Hi. I’m looking for the Yu party? They had made reservations at 8:30.» Rude Hostess: «I mean, I don’t know. YOU can go and look around and find them.» Wow. It’s only your job to help out the customer. It’s not like there was a line or the waiting area was crowded… After that left a sour taste in my mouth, I found my friends and had my drink order taken by our waitress. Oh our waitress. What a trainwreck. I guess she thought that she could try to play it «cool» or whatever because here she had a table of 520 somethings. Like she could give us poor service and encourage us to get wasted on expensive shots and that we would still give her a good tip or whatever. 4 of us are in law school, 1 is in med school. It’s not like we put up with BS anymore. Anyway, what really done it in with me with her was when she admitted(after taking like 7 years to refill our drink orders) that SHEHADBEENDRINKINGBEFORESHEGOTTOWORKTHATDAYANDTHATSHEWASBASICALLYDRUNKWORKINGASOURWAITRESS. Are you kidding me??? I really wanted to call over the manager right then and there, but(1) I was with 4 of my great friends I hadn’t seen in a while(2) I didn’t want to make a scene, and(3) I guess I felt sympathetic towards the trainwreck of a waitress and didn’t want to risk my getting her fired. But something tells me(from the absolute LACK of professionalism from everyone working at that establishment) that the manager probably would have done nothing anyway. Now, on to the food. I’d previewed the the menu ahead of time, and I was looking forward to(if it was going to be anything like Taverna) delicious pastas and risottos. What I got was a dish that was bland and mediocre. When you get like 2 tiny pieces of lobster and a risotto that was like a stomach churning porridge, $ 19 for lobster risotto should be illegal. Next time I should trust the majority of poor reviews before I end up spending too much money on a poor meal and horrible service. Cibus is the epitome of a terrible restaurant. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT.

*brunch review* I was originally thinking 3.5, but the hawk-like attention to our bottomless mimosa glasses is absolutely deserving of a 0.5 star round up. Any place that offers bottomless mimosas should take note of this critical service approach — no one orders a bottomless anything without intending on a least a few refills! Plus, at $ 7.50 with an entrée order, they’re quite reasonable and surprisingly potent. The location in NorthPark mall is actually nice and relaxing since the restaurant opens to the courtyard area and is somewhat tucked away behind Ann Taylor LOFT rather than being on a main drag. Parking is available either via valet or the lot just east of the Nordstrom deck. Be forewarned that a decent walk may be involved for Sunday brunch since the lot packs out pretty early. It’s hard to mess up lox and brioche, so it’s no surprise that my dish was delicious and satisfying. I liked the presentation and the fact that the hard boiled eggs were grated up into an almost spreadable consistency. The salmon was nice and fresh as well as thick and substantial. There were several tempting selections on the menu, and our table barely managed to resist ordering the beignets — next time! Both orders of the Cibus Benedict across the table from me were gone before I knew it, and the plates went back to the kitchen without so much as a crumb left. Must be every bit as good as already mentioned by several reviews! The atmosphere is nice, but gets quite busy and can be a bit loud.

On the circumference of the North Park courtyard, Cibus is a lovely Italian restaurant that serves as a nice romantic haven that lets you escape from the frenzied frequencers of the mall. I will start with the prices. They are not steep but come to think of it, they seem to to steep for what the restaurant is. And that is just the thing I can’t figure out. Is it a nice restaurant that is worthy of charging me $ 15 for a salad or are they just semi-nice restaurant with refreshing décor and fun Sophia Loren photographs? I guess that is not for me to figure out. Nonetheless, the prices caught my attention. We started off with the Caprese salad, which was bountiful with Arugula. YUM. Who doesn’t love Arugula? It was more of a green salad with mozzarella and tomato. Not your average Caprese but in a good way. My entrée was the wild mushroom salad with prosciutto. It was a very large portion with a generous amount of ‘shrooms and ham. I am not a huge fan of white sauce, so that is my fault. Won’t dock the pizza, because it didn’t have marinara. That was my bad. But it caused me to maybe convert to cream sauce… baby steps. I am going back to Cibus for brunch on their lovely patio! Oh, and they have a great banquet room for celebrations!

Hey, you know that really big mall in Dallas proper? Northpark? Well, a little known secret lives there and it’s called«Cibus.» Pronounced: see-biss. Like Seabiscuit, except not a horse. This little gem is absolutely overshadowed by its next door neighbor, La Duni, but it needs more love and attention because it’s as up to speed as anything else. It has that genuine Latin charm, interspersed with splashes of orange and delight. The aesthetic of the restaurant itself is very pleasing, with a wide open room and plenty of natural sunlight during the day and soft lighting at night. As for the food, their brunch menu is my favorite. I know you most likely don’t think of the mall when you think brunch(I certainly don’t. Brunch, to me, is like a fragile relationship you must keep hidden and treat gently, out of the public eye), but I am telling you, Cibus is worth it. They have the classic eggs benedict or, if you’re feeling adventurous(you ARE dining at the mall, anyway), you can try their eggs benedict on steroids entitled«Cibus Benedict.» This version comes complete with crabmeat, creamy parmesan sauce and sauteed spinach. The menu runs a tad pricey, but I believe the overall appeal of the restaurant plus its patio that is perfectly well-suited for a spring day are included in the fare. Trot, Cibus, trot!

It’s Penne Pomodoro but with higher prices. I didn’t particularly like the feel of the inside, which feels a little cheap.. . and orange. Our bruschetta was strong on the garlic. My Caesar was tasty and presented well — long, uncut heats of romaine. Even so, I wasn’t blown away. Also, the way the light was hitting the tables was making them appear unclean. I hope it was only an appearance.

I went here today for lunch with my mom because we were shopping inside northpark and it was something new to try. My mom got the grilled shrimp salad and I had the french toast. They were both good. The salad on the other hand could use a little lime on the shrimp. My french toasts were so delightful and perfectly sweet that i didn’t need to drizzle on the maple syrup at all. I loved it! I dont think many americans will enjoy this place because the food is not heavily seasoned like how we’re all used to. Their dishes are very light! so don’t listen to what everybody thinks and go try it for yourself. Who knows, you might like it! and no, i do not work there! I wish i did because then I wouldn’t be unemployed…*sigh* poor college graduate… anybody hiring? I have a bba in finance! LOL!

I’d heard good and bad things about Cibus, and I decided to give it a try since I was already inside Northpark Mall. My friends and I did not enjoy it, and everything on the menu seemed way overpriced. First off, I found the menu difficult to read. We got an appetizer that was listed as follows: Tagliere Misto with Gnocco Fritto /Prosciutto di Parma /Culatello /Salami /Mortadella /Puffy Fritters 12.00 This line of text boggled my mind. What does it mean? Are we choosing between these things, or are they all components of the same dish? If they’re all in the same dish, why are they separated with slashes rather than commas? And why are those slashes further separated by spaces? Are all of these things meat? Is the average person expected to know what a tagliere, culatello, or mortadella is? A tagliere sounds like it might be a pasta, and gnocco sounds kind of like gnocchi, which is potato, but I’m really not sure. What are the fritters made of? Is there anything inside the fritters? As it turned out, they were all part of the same dish, which was a platter of deli meats surrounding an empty fritter which was made of some type of unidentified carbohydrate. The meat was good, but not great, and I would have enjoyed it more if I’d known what to expect. When my friend ordered his shrimp risotto, the waitress made a noise of excitement and proclaimed that it was by far the best thing on the menu. That’s good to know, because it was really bland and I wouldn’t try it again, which leads me to believe that I should not try anything else on their menu. It gets an extra star because nothing we ate was particularly offensive; it just wasn’t good. If you’re in the mall and want something good to eat, go next door to La Duni instead of Cibus.

Just an update for the café. I still have yet to eat at the fancy schmancy restaurant because the menu is too pricey for my tastes. If I’m going to spend money on a nice meal, I’m not going to eat in the mall. When my stomach starting screaming at me on Saturday during my shift at Nordstrom, the thought of eating tater tots, crepes, tacos, cookies, and chinese(my usual lunch) just made me nauseous. But where else can I quiet my angry belly? I decided to try Cibus again because their café is pretty cheap, cute, and there’s usually no line, unlike Sonic or Tin Star. I ordered a small side of the tortellini salad for $ 3.50 and it was the perfect amount. It was cute, yummy, and fresh. Best of all, I had a cloth napkin on my lap and a little piece of quiet, which is the most precious thing to me. And since my lunch was so cheap and cute, I didn’t feel bad about getting a giant flaky pastry that was bigger than my face. It was beautiful. Next time I might try the side salad sampler where you can sample 3 salads for $ 8. The salads are all really fresh looking– caprese, pasta, pesto. YUM! The lighting and colors in the café are bright, light and fun and a nice contrast to the irksome food court with it’s annoying rich high school posses and annoying families. Sorry if I’m not being family friendly, I just don’t understand why so many 5-year-olds have birthday parties at the food court. It’s the black hole of the mall! Save yourself. Do not go there and try the Cibus café instead for a quick, light, flaky, tasty meal.
