THIEVES! Be sure the read the fine print and the fine print inside that fine print. I canceled my account and very carefully followed all the proper steps. I received a confirmation e-​mail as well as a confirmation number that I canceled. I got my latest credit card statement and was charged for a renewal! I spent an hour (at least) on the phone with the most condescending individual. He literally would not answer a single question. It sounded as though he was just reading from a prepared statement, which I’m pretty sure he was, and he just kept repeating that he couldn’t help me. I offered to forward the e-​mail to prove my cancellation and asked if that would get me a refund and he REFUSED to answer. He literally reread the same old line. He wouldn’t even give me a simple «yes» or «no» which I pointed out to him. I tried appealing to his sense of logic but he became rude and more condescending. I made sure to get his name and employee id number because I’m going to print out my proof/​confirmation and mail it to corporate and copy their legal department. Is all this trouble worth $ 77.50 and higher blood pressure? Probably not, but it’s the principle of the matter. I’m so annoyed with the dishonesty and lack of integrity.

I subscribe to match on Jan 31, 2015 for 6 month free and they have 6 month guarantee, means if you follow rules you get 6 month for free. Guess what 6 month later on August 2 my card was charged $ 137.00 renew rate ! I follow rules, had follow all requirements, had all check marks and now my credit card was charged??? Called corporate office and receptionist said «you could hire an attorney «and was laughing at me. Sad, very sad, after they take your money they are not willing to follow thru with their promised promo of 6 month guarantee and they make fun of you?! They had F rating on BBB and now revoked

What a waste. Suppose you want to start dating again and since some of your friends have met online (probably not through match), you decide to give this site a try. After all, they advertise on TV, it has to be a reputable service, Right???
Wrong!!!
This site is the biggest joke out there. They nickle and dime you for everything. And then when you’ve had enough and want nothing to do with Match, you continue to receive their emails with potential matches 500 miles away or more. And trying to get someone to respond to your emails is impossible.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE… do not make the mistake I did and sign up for this site. You’re better off being fixed up by your 95 year old grandmother. And least she has a clue as to who you are.
Oh and beware: Match also owns other dating services like OKCupid and recently bought PlentyofFish.

Match does not allow you to permanently delete your account by yourself. You must call in and request it to be done so. This is so stupid that it completely causes me to lose any respect I had for the service. Trust your customers to make their own decisions. Don’t limit them to a deactivate option that can be reactivated later. Let them delete it forever if they wish.

In one word — abysmal. Signed up for a 30 day promotion offered through Living Social. In the few days that I have been on, I have received 5 — count them, FIVE, emails from fraudsters masquarading as normal men. This site is teeming with con artists. On the occasion when you click on one of these profiles and you don’t get a message saying «the account is no longer available», the alternative scenario is an account with one photo, a well-​written profile, accompanied by a message in broken English with no punctuation or grammatical skills explaining that they are contacting me on behalf of their «shy brother» or that «their subscription is ending today» and to contact them off-​line on their email account. Some will provide a phone number asking to text them directly. And if that’s not enough of a red flag, they use language that any normal person living in the U.S. would never use. I guess the upside is that I’m only out $ 15 bucks. This site used to be pretty legit back in the day now it just seems like a haven for scammers.

What a scam! They auto-​renew your subscription even if you turn the feature off.
Back in February I was offered a 7-​day free trial because when I tried logging into my account it was deleted due to a «security breach». A rep offered me a 7-​day trial to make up for the inconvenience. I had no idea that complimentary trial would turn into a paid subscription because I never entered any credit card information — bizarre! So when I inquired about that they issued me a refund. Cool.
Fast forward a few months. I logged into the app (I was using the limited free membership) and I was offered a «sale» on subscriptions within the app. I took the bait and signed up. But I knew from my last experience that I had to manage my subscription within iTunes and turn off the automatic renewal feature. I did this immediately after joining.
Well, last night I noticed a subscription charge on my credit card so I looked further back and there was one for the previous month as well — 3 months total, I only wanted 1 month. I haven’t even used my account after the time I knew the 1-​month was going to expire, I hid my profile and deleted the app (I rarely — if ever — log on from the
Web site, I always use the app).
So last night when I noticed the charges I immediately emailed customer service and inquired as to why I’m being billed if I turned off the auto-​renew feature. I also requested a refund. A rep replied saying that they could not offer a refund as they had already issued me one a few months ago (the first time I was auto-​renewed), and they never explained why it auto-​renewed even though I turned the option off in iTunes.
So this afternoon I called to speak with a live human. Two reps gave me the same information as the rep via email did, so I asked for a manager. After a long wait someone by the name of Jose claiming to be a manager came on the line. He just kept repeating that he couldn’t issue a refund because I already had one within a 12-​month period, and when I asked why I was auto-​renewed despite disabling it within iTunes he kept repeating «that’s just the way it is».
I called a 4^th rep by the name of Suzanne. She was very pleasant and unlike the previous reps (Candy, Andrea and Jose), she offered a little more of an explanation as to why I was auto-​renewed. She said I paid for the subscription directly to
and not iTunes, like the first time. She said because of this I had to turn off auto renew directly through the Web site and not through iTunes. I had no idea there were 2 ways of signing up/​paying, all I know is that I clicked on a link within the
app and that’s how I signed up and paid — I never went to the Web site, I rarely even use my laptop let alone the
Web site. She said even though it was a misunderstanding and she understood how the mistake was made, due to their guidelines of only offering a credit once within a 12-​month period she couldn’t do anything, NO EXCEPTIONS, NO APOLOGIES.
So I was left with no other option but to dispute the charge with my credit card company (a total of over $ 90 because I was billed for 2 months). We’ll see how that goes. Needless to say I will NEVER sign up again, but an outfit like
doesn’t care about that, you need them more than they need you. That was proven by Jose’s response of «that’s just the way it is». It’s a shame that a company has such low common practices and customer service reps, especially ones in management positions.

I informed
that there was a man on their site who had assaulted me in the past. I was concerned for my safety, as a restraining order and order of protection had been invoked. They said they would not prohibit him from viewing or contacting me and all I could do is remove myself from the site. (no refund of any kind, even though I had only been on there a couple weeks) They obviously value the rights of a perpetrator more than the ones of a woman who just wants to try to find a chance at real love. Extremely disappointing and appalled at their response and lack of concern.

Recently, my account was hacked and they somewhat took care of that matter yet while finally taking time off of work to settle the issue by phone they offered to renew me at a discount only by phone though. I said I was unable to do it right then. Sure call back
Saturday arrives when I am home and able to focus on cleaning up the mess that their system allowed to happen. they are not open for customer support on the weekends. This is insane and a complete lack of respect for the client since most people are searching on weekends and need support NO SUCH Luck.

I called a few days after my initial 3-​mth subscription expired because I noticed a new charge on my credit card. I thought the subscription period was almost up but I didn’t get any reminder notifications or know the exact date so I missed it by a few days. When I noticed I was being charged, I didn’t think it would be a big deal to call and let them know I wasn’t planning to continue my service because it wasn’t meeting my expectations.
I spoke to three different account representatives, including someone at their corporate office, and they were all unwilling to help me in any capacity. Each one just kept saying ‘unfortunately, there’s nothing we can do’ like robots. When I’d ask to speak with someone higher up who had authority they just said, ‘Well it won’t do any good because they will tell you the same thing.“
They seemed to be stuck on the fact that I had sent an email under my account after my subscription was up, so therefore they could not issue me a refund. Well obviously this was an accident since again, I did not realize that it was up — and that’s why I called to cancel as soon as I found out!
I can personally think of plenty of things they could have done. The easiest would be to refund my money so I’d be a satisfied customer and potentially use their service again in the future. The second would be to offer me a credit of sorts or an upgrade to any other bonus features they offer to try and keep my business. Third would be to compromise and pro-​rate the date that I used their service accidentally and then refund me the rest of the subscription amount.
I would have been satisfied with any of these solutions but none of these were offered as a possibility, they just kept saying no with a very apathetic attitude. At no level of my customer service exchanges, even at the corporate office, did I speak to an employee competent, caring, or empowered enough to come up with a win/​win solution.
The best they could do was offer me an address so I could write a letter… so maybe my feedback would be considered by their management team. This is without a doubt the most frustrating experience I have ever had with a company, let alone a company that acts like they care about your personal happiness.
They did send me a customer service survey, which expired after only 3 days, so I didn’t even have adequate time to express my dissatisfaction of this experience to them. Imagine how it felt to take the time to respond to a feedback form because you think someone actually cares, and then it tells you it’s already expired!
Once I saw that I could not fill out the survey, I went to log into my account to send them an email, only to find that they had cancelled my account completely. Their last email said that my information would be saved in the system and I’d be able to log in again for up to a year but when I tried to do so it said I’d need to contact customer care to proceed.
So now they’ve cancelled my membership but insisted on keeping my money when I have no intention of continuing to use their service for the next three months, yet at this point even if I wanted to, they’ve denied access to reinstate my account. This feels like theft and a scam.

This dating site has been sued in New York because more than 90% of its profiles are inactive. Thus, if you assume a quarter of the active profiles you write to will respond then out of 100 emails you send, you’ll get TWO replies. They are anti-​male, too. You can’t make fun of an outrageous female profile without a warning but if you complain that a woman threatens you, somehow hacks your email, or something similar,
does ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.
I’m only getting started. Match.com’s algorithms totally ignore your stated distance preferences so I’m getting profiles from 200 to 400 miles away. After a short time on
, you’ll start getting pictureless profiles even if you requested that they not send them.
My advice to singles? Try meeting women at the laundromat, the library, at church, at a café, etc. The sheer number of profiles is meant to lull you into the illusion that you have infinite choice. In reality, you have almost none. In fact, after a mere couple of weeks you start seeing the same profiles you saw little more than a week ago. Dating sites, in general, create this illusion that there are many «better deals» out there. If you’re going to indulge this illusion then I recommend that you do it on free sites. The pay ones do NOT deliver and I say this as a man who has had three multi-​month affairs and tons of individual dates from dating sites.
Finally, if you belong to, say, four dating sites you’ll find the same women on all four sites. Of course, a few people have great luck and they’re the ones that these shysters put on TV commercials. Don’t waste your money. If you’re going to waste your time, do it on a free site.

This online dating site provided many dates. Some very good, some ridiculous, but that was more about the person. I was able to choose quality dates from the age range that fit my criteria! I was in fact in a very good locality to meet men: San Francisco. One does have to be discerning. Unfirtunately, there are an abundance of men in the 50 — 60 age range who married late in life, then divorced. In my experience the ones I met that married late in life are disillusioned because the woman — their ex who was younger and attractive dumped them, now they are trying to replace her, most have still not learned how NOT to be selfish; which is the consequence of marrying late and never having to share or be responsible for another. Better to find a man who married early, he will likely be more giving, also higher earner if you look at that. Beware the man who never had children and never married — obviously.

(1) HORRIBLE algorithms completely disregard your preferences, and mileage search. I asked for matches within 50 miles of a major US city, and after a month starting receiving matches from over 200 miles away! I then changed my zip code, and get matches from all across the eastern US. Customer ‘service’ sends out seemingly caring responses, but no changes.
(2) I’m seeking people over 55 years of age, and initially only received 15 matches, which I find impossible to believe since I live in a metro area of over 2 million. I asked can they tell me the number of people in my age range as of the end of last month or quarter, and they say they can’t.
(3) They automatically rebill at the end of your bill cycle. I’m hoping they actually will stop my billing since I’ve cancelled.
(4) Sadly they own several ‘related’ systems, including sites like ‘men/​gays over 50…’ and similar. IF you really want to use, try for only one month. God luck.

‘s algorithms completely disregard your preferences. Are you a PhD wanting an educated man? Get ready to be matched with a bunch of dudes who don’t have a college degree. Match will argue that if you had less than every possibility for race and religion selected, they *just had to* disregard your education preferences. (Doesn’t matter that perhaps 96% of the people in your area are white Christians and your preferences are so much broader than that. The
corporate office just LOVES to make up excuses for why they just cant be of assistance to you.)
2. Their «6 month guarantee» is nothing of the sort. They will find «reasons» to not honor it. DO NOT under any circumstances suffer the illusion that they will honor this «guarantee».
3. Just because you cancel your account, don’t expect they will not bill you. You will call to file a complaint and hear «Uh… we don’t know anything about a cancellation…» You have to GET A SCREEN SHOT (a good idea with any dating site) of your cancellation. EXPECT FRAUDULENT BILLING. If you have an account, it is a good idea to cancel your credit card to prevent additional charges from
if you wish to avoid them.
4. THERE IS NO CUSTOMER SERVICE. Match employs people to recite a policy that is irrelevant to your particular circumstance. They will not be of any assistance to you if you have the misfortune to think they can help solve a problem with your account.
5. It is waaay too expensive for what you get (which is essentially, access to a database of the dejected and lonely.) Try
if you want to use a dating site. There are more people there and it doesn’t suck so much. Smart people just don’t pay that kind of money for a dating website when there are so many other options these days.
6. My ex is on there so you have a good chance of running into at least one filthy lying scumbag (in Fargo) who will steal your mother’s, your grandmother’s and your great grandmother’s jewelry (and any other valuables that have been in your family for 100 years). If the profile says that he’s finished his construction management grad degree (dropped out first semester) studied interior design for undergrad (it was university studies) loves yoga (hates exercise and will gain 30lbs with a gf) and invites you to «expand your family by four feet» run the other way, ladies!

Fraudulent billing practices. I cancelled my account 2 months ago and noticed a new charge on my credit card. No email or anything or reason for charge. I definitely deactivated my account and cancelled my service.

This companies refund policies are horrible. I have been a paid member before, and they keep your financial records. While using my scroll pad accidentally clicked on the membership order tab. Which took an order for a 6 month membership for $ 120. I called immediately to tell them about the mistake and ask for a refund. They refused to give a refund. So I offered to pay for a 1 month membership if they would refund the rest. They said the would give me a partial refund on the rest. Now I explained over and over again that it was an honest mistake and was trying to make it right. They still refused the refund. So I was forced to call my bank, stop the charge, and cancel my membership. So in response Match has now banned me from their site. Which is fine since I no longer wish to do business with them anymore anyways.

Good luck getting a refund… they treat customer like crap!
I mean someone from this site.HOWEVER. When my subscription was automatically renewed (which I thought I disabled) I went to the website and cancelled and sent out goodbye emails and edited and disabled my profile.
Match will not refund my money (over a $ 100) and refuses to work with me to resolve this issue.

Ok so saying you were on match… is a dead giveaway that you are:
a. Lonely and depressed
b. Can’t buy a date in a whorehouse with a million bucks
c. Still live at your moms house and are over the age of 30 – 35
d. Socially inept
e. A complete sycophant
f. Too busy to date
g. Don’t have any single friends or know where to go to meet them
h. Not a Unilocaler (we all know that Unilocal is the best dating site)

j. An axe wielding murderer

So yeah… that is where a website like match comes into play. Me I was on there for being bored, lonely and didn’t know anyone who was single and into the stuff that I was. I have had profiles at different times in my life and it is not something that ever worked for me.
One of my best friends from HS met his wife through match. That is totally awesome so I know it can work. However it just didn’t work for me.
The good:
a. A lot of people are on the site
b. Some are totally sane regular folks
c. You can find someone into the same activities that you are
d. It’s not THAT expensive
The bad:
a. A lot of people won’t respond to msg’s
b. You have to pay to see what someone writes you (even if they are a member)
c. You never know if the person you are talking to is who they say they are
d. The folks on match are extremely judgmental
If you leave match, they send you incessant emails asking you to return with various discounts. I let my subscription run out last October or something and they have been sending me weekly offers to join back up and continue their services. Annoying. I literally just got fed up with trying to contact people who seemed interesting, only to hear nothing in response.
Well that wasn’t exactly what I was hoping for so ummm yeah… I quit the site. I feel richer for it to be honest. I just am sick of all the spam that they send me even though I have asked them to stop a couple of times.
So I don’t think it’s worth it but others do. There are both good and bad things with this site. Use it at your own risk, but it can lead to love or it can lead to self loathing when no one responds to you. I am just glad to be out of the loop. But overall I don’t think the site is worth the price… especially with so many free options that do the same thing, let alone so many people can’t read msg’s you send them if they haven’t paid as well, and you can’t tell who is who…
So good luck if you try it out… I don’t like it that much overall… hope you have better luck than I did… I am just happy that there are other places to meet someone that you can find you have a lot in common with.
