Mughlai Restaurant

We were there on a Saturday night. It was bustling and was full of patrons. It’s located in a strip mall close to the galleria. Décor & ambiance is good nothing too fancy.
Appetizer:
Papri Chaat: Just average. Lacked the tanginess and zest. It bordered on being flat. Ingredients were fresh though.
Main Course:
Mixed Grill Platter: Probably the best dish of our meal and saved the day. Nice combination of tandoori chicken, fish, shrimp, kebabs. This was just amazing ! Very well prepared with nice mix of spices and flavors:
Tava Vegetables: Nothing to write home about. Mix of soggy veggies (eggplant, okra, potatoes, bitter gourd). Too much masala and felt it was just rewarmed! Not worth ordering — Stay away.
Raita: Cucumber raita: relatively small portion. Have had much better and will leave it at that.
Jeera Rice: Fine basmati rice with cumin seeds. Excellent. Not much to mess up here !
Garlic Naan: Just okay.
Rasmalai: Actually was good !
Service: Efficient.
Drinks: Had a beer and Diet Soda. The drinks menu had usual suspects on it. Cocktails seemed standard.
The damage for above was 76 $ including the tip.
Overall: B —
I would not go out of my way. I had much higher expectations as Mughlai is billed as one of the best Indian restaurants in DFW but it disappoints.

This was my first time here and I was looking for a good Indian restaurant ever since India West closed. My experience could not have been better. My waitress was attentive and took the time to wrap my leftovers. The Owner happened to be present and even stopped by my table for a chat. The food was authentic and spiced perfectly. I will definitely be back.

I have had the lunch buffet here twice and it is just delicious Indian food. Get there around lunch time to enjoy it when it is very fresh.
The quality is great and they have plenty of vegetarian options. It’s a relief to find great Indian places like this, they are few and far in between.
The service is great and they constantly refill your water and remove the dirty plates. I highly recommend this place for lunch; I need to try their dinner.

This place just keeps impressing.
I woke up yesterday craving some Mughlai food, so after running some errands with our 12 week son I called my husband and suggested we go along and try the lunchtime buffet.
We were greeted at the door by one girl whilst a lovely server who had spotted our need for a table with room for baby quickly suggested we take a booth by the window. We all fitted in there nicely. The server chatted to us whilst we settled in at our table and she was very personable.
The buffet choice is limited compared to some other Indian buffets in the area, HOWEVER, what this meant was that everything was REALLY FRESH!
The meats were tender, sauces warm & tasty, breads & rice light and fluffy!
We both ordered a soda, and refills were offered promptly so that our glasses were not left empty.
The owner /​manger (I think he is the owner) was behind the bar (which seemed well stocked with top shelf brands) and he stopped to chat with my husband and I about our baby which was lovely because being new parents we often worry about taking a baby in to restaurants in case he gets fussy and bothers the other patrons. Not the case here. We were made to feel most welcome.
Per my previous review, there is no one dish that stands out to me over the others as they are all so tasty!
I recommend this restaurant to all our friends and if you are reading this contemplating going, I say DO IT! You will not be disappointed!

Good food but I stopped visiting this place ever since they changed the rules regarding buffet. You can no longer have your buffet to go, you have to eat inside restaurant.

I guess I m spoilt (live in Irving and so have choices)
A La carte menu food is OK… nothing to brag about
Upscale as far as Indian restaurants go… BUT I say to you does that really matter are you not there for the food. Is it NOT the food that counts.
If u want that whole upscale image… there are better places such as Nobu, French Room, Landmark etc etc
Service is great thus 2 star
if u want more choices try Pasand, Hilltop or Our Place in Irving… worth the 10 minute drive.

Mughlai is one of the best Indian fine-​dining restaurants in DFW area. This place is very clean and well maintained. I used to go there frequently 3 years back and returned after a couple of years and their quality of food has been the same. It is a bit expensive than other Indian restaurants, but it is not as expensive as other fine dining restaurants.
Their vegetarian dishes are very delicious. My favorites here are the vegetable kebab, chicken korma, and the gosht biryani. They have very good variety of desserts too and their jalebis and rasmalai top the list. I and my friends always ordered desserts here especially the rasmalai. I got their jalebis as complimentary couple of times and they taste delicious
The best part about this place are the hosts. They always come and talk to you and make sure you are doing good. I highly recommend this place if you want to celebrate an occasion with good Indian food. It is also a very good date night place.

Food is just ok. Don’t cater from mughlai ever! We hired them for an imp event and they cheated on the amount of food they brought and threw away the leftovers without telling us or asking us about the food we paid for. Some of our guests did not get to eat. The owner is very uncooperative and tries to tell you how to run your event. We were cheated by Mughlai.

Have you ever walked into a place thinking it would not be much, but walk out feeling classy and expensive. Man this place was amazing from the way they walked you to the table to how they serve you time to time. The uniqueness of this vibrant place made me feel that I was paying for a high class restaurant. Everything was somewhat near perfection to the food to the spice to they way they deliver refills.
They walked me to the table and seated me as if I was a king, and they asked if I needed anything from drinks to special allergies or special request. Then they released me to the wonderful buffet. It was not a huge menu of buffet, but it was sufficient to fill you up after on plate. After I finished a plate, they took the plate right away, after I got up to get seconds. It was like they had a camera watching me to make sure I enjoyed everything. The drinks is what had me thinking, after I finished my Dr.pepper. They brought refills in a mini jar enough to refill your glass. Like a special mini jar just for you with your drink. I never seen anything remotely close to a refill like that.
The service was amazing. They checked up just enough so they were there when you were near finished or if your were struggling with the food. For a random first time visit for my Dad’s birthday, this has to be the best choice in a lifetime.

From the service to the food, this is my new favorite place for Indian dinner!
I couldn’t tell you what any of the food was… but I ate it all with gusto.

Decent food — you can literally taste the butter in everything! Guess that can be a good or bad thing depending on your diet goals (or lack thereof)!
The reason i give the place 3 instead of 4 stars is the lack of cleanliness and maintenance — tables and chairs were sticky, remnants of a previous diner’s meal were on the floor, and the décor was really dull.
However the servers were pleasant and helpful– they made recommendations, brought out everything for a very large group very systematically and were patient with the confusion that ensues when a large group tries to order a-​la-​carte.
Guess it’s a nice option to have but doubt I’d dine in again.

Man, oh man, I love this place! When we were parking the only patrons coming out were Indian. While we were dining, 99% of the guests were also Indian. I don’t know about you, but when I go to an Indian restaurant and the vast majority of patrons are of the same nationality, that’s when I know it’ll be some good food.
Décor is nice. Pleasant atmosphere. I’ve dined here twice now. Consistently great! They are my absolute, without a doubt, go-​to for Indian food in the Dallas metroplex!

Went here with a group of coworkers (one from India) so was able to try multiple dishes. I found all our food to be enjoyable and everything was prepared ‘indian spicy’ which was spicy, but could still taste all the flavors very well. My favorite dishes were the Murgh Tikka Makhani and the Peshawari kebab, which I’ll definitely return for. The Indian with us ordered everything and enjoyed all the dishes too. Such a pleasant surprise for me and my fiancé when we visited Mughlai. The service and the atmosphere were so nice, that we’ve already made a return visit!
I’m going to start off with the food. If you’re a vegan, they have a separate vegan menu that they will give you if you request it. There’s a decent number of options on it too! We both started off with the Vegetable Samosas and I had the Aloo Gohbi. The Samosas were great! If there are only 2 of you, one order will work. There are 3 of them, but they’re pretty large. The perfect amount to get you prepared for your main course. They came out hot. The crust was nice and flaky, plus the potatoes and peas on the inside were perfectly seasoned. My Aloo Gohbi came out next. Nice and hot, with the perfect amount of spiciness! I like my food pretty hot, and they will definitely put the heat in your dish if you ask for it.
The reason that my review is 3 stars and not 4 stars isn’t because of the food or most of the staff, but because of an incident that we had during our second visit. Our waitress was very nice and friendly. She explained the dishes, gave good recommendations, and kept our waters full (I needed my water too!!!).We had come in unintentionally about 25 minutes before their closing time of 2:30 (a little after 2pm). It wasn’t brought to our attention (nor it shouldn’t have been) until one waitress, who wasn’t even serving our table, brought our ticket to us before we even got our appetizer. She asked if we could take care of this so they could get out of there when they closed. My review isn’t based on her alone though, even though she did make our meal feel awkward and rushed. Our waitress was kind and pleasant. When we told her that we didn’t know that it was that close to closing time, she told us that it was quite alright and not a problem at all. The owner (or who I assumed to be the owner) also walked by and asked us if we enjoyed our meal. She seemed very pleasant as well.
The food was very good, the décor on the inside is great. and most of the staff is superb! I recommend this spot to anyone in the area, wanting Indian food. You won’t be disappointed. I’m just going to make sure that if it’s anywhere within the hour of closing time, I’m going to look for some other spot to stop!

Good Indian food is HARD to find here in Dallas. I personally love Indian food, so when Mughlai won an award (from the Observer, I believe) for the best Indian food in 2013, it was only a matter of time before I would get a chance to try it out for myself.
The place has a nice interior, with a slightly elegant feel to it. I like the music they play, too. None of that Indian techno crap. Points for ambiance. Their staff is friendly, and will greet you with a smile before directing you to your seat. Roti is served with a sweet plum sauce and a spicy green curry-​style sauce for dipping, and is quite delicious. It definitely worked up my appetite.
I ordered the chicken tikka makhani, with jeera rice (cumin rice). Note: the rice does not come with the entrée, so make sure you order your side. It’s enough for two! The chicken was tender, juicy, and absolutely wonderful. The sauce was not too runny, and not too thick… just right. It was super flavorful, too. I enjoyed every single bite. We also ordered some naan, and they have various options. We ordered the sesame naan with butter. If they ask you if you want butter, don’t ask questions. JUST SAY YES. Yummm…
I don’t come up to this part of town often, but I will make it a point to visit Mughlai more often. They have a sizable menu with something for everyone, so I don’t think anyone will have too hard of a time finding something yummy to try!

Surprisingly, my first try at Indian food. Absolute friendly service upon entering. Naan breads are fresh, warm and soft. I wish I could remember the names of the dish we ordered, but I know one had shrimp and the other had chicken. The chicken dish was spicy! And the shrimp dish tasted more like Tomato sauce — both full of curry.
The experience in service and food was so good that I will definitely be back for more dish trials!

I really enjoyed this place. The atmosphere was very spacious and quiet as well as a little more fancy than your average hole in the wall restaurant. The staff is very friendly and willing to do whatever they can to help you enjoy your experience.
The chicken tikka masala (medium spicy) had just a hint of spice behind the traditional tikka masala flavor which made it very pleasant and manageable. The heat wasn’t overwhelming, but more of a subdued back flavor.
Their garlic/​buttered naan was tasty as well. I’m really glad we ordered the naan, because we were not informed that each dish was a la carte. Most of the other places I’ve been included some rice with their dish. Other than that, I really loved this place.
I’ll be back!

I’m pretty familiar with north Indian food and this is pretty good. The service was attentive and courteous. The only reason this isn’t a four star review is because there’s no rice served with the entreee, and there’s nothing in the menu to tell you that.
Overall, good and rich food.
