My neurologist sent me for a battery of tests with Dr Paulman and his assistant. They were kind, helpful and thorough. The testing took about 7 hours, with a break for lunch, so it was an intense day, but well conducted. The followup appointment also went well; Dr. Paulman went over the testing, explained what the individual tests were for, what the results were, and what they meant in practical terms. My neurologist was also pleased with the completeness of the testing.

I do not recommend Ronald G. Paulman because he does not fairly treat his patients. The issue: I could not attend an appointment due to complications resulting from a car wreck that totaled my vehicle, left me in bed for several days(including the day of the appointment), left me without any transportation, and without access to my calendar, which is 200 miles away. Unless I first pay the $ 250 for the missed appointment, I cannot get the medical test originally scheduled. Here are the facts. I was scheduled to see Ronald G. Paulman for a neuropsychological test due to problems involving my memory. The appointment was scheduled for February 12, 2012. Regarding the visit, the Ronald G. Paulman’s office sent me an email on my work email which I found to be disturbing at the time, because my secretary has access to my email and my medical situation is none of her concern. In any event, the letter clearly included the following language: «Please call us as soon as possible if you need to reschedule this appointment. As we reserve an entire day for you, we require at least 48 hours notice of cancellation or you may be charged a fee. Please also note that any quote of insurance benefits provided by our office is given as a courtesy. It is not a guarantee of payment by your insurance, and you may be responsible for a different amount.» The letter does NOT mention anything about being charged $ 250(or any amount) for a missed appointment. This is important, because Paulman’s assistant falsely said it did provide specific notice of the charge, which is a false statement. My situation prevented me from going to the appointment due to a car accident. On Saturday, March 11, 2012, I was driving to my property in Palo Pinto county. In heavy rain, my car hydroplaned out of control and I spun off the road and down a steep gully, hitting a huge rock and tree. The car was totaled and I am lucky to be alive. I was instructed by the emergency room doctor that I should rest for several days — and not go anywhere. So the accident was Saturday; on Tuesday morning I received two phone calls from Ronald G. Paulman, but I was in bed and was not near the phone. After the second call I got up to see who it was. Paulman had called twice to see if I was going to come in for my appointment. After explaining to him the facts above, Paulman did not inquire about my injury; Paulman not inquire as to whether I was recovering; Paulman did not inquire as to whether I was doing any better. Paulman’s only interest was in rescheduling. Paulman mentioned, and this is a direct quote, that«I would be charged a small fee.» When I asked how much, he said«$ 250.» I said I would not pay that amount, under the circumstances. Paulman said that he was«sorry he could not accommodate me.» I called back to speak to his assistant. I tried to explain that(1) I was in a car accident;(2) had no transportation;(3) was told to rest this week; and(4) do not have access to my calendar, which is in Dallas, but she would have nothing of it. She became curt and kept cutting me off. Finally I had to ask her to stop interrupting me so that I could fully explain. I told her it made no sense to lose a new patient over this. She explained that she emailed me a letter that specifically mentioned the $ 250 fee. This is false. The letter merely requests 48 hours notice of a cancellation(which in this case would have been a Sunday). Not only will Paulson never collect the $ 250 from me, he will never collect the huge fees that Doctor’s charge in the first place, and I explained that i would post this incident on various social media to let the public know of this rip-off. At no time did anyone from Paulman’s office ask me how I was. They did not ask if I was feeling better or needed help. They only wanted money for a missed appointment. And if Ronald G. Paulman really thinks $ 250 is a «small amount» he needs to have his own head examined because this is delusional. (Note: Ronald G. Paulman is not a physician or an «MD»; he holds a Ph.D. which is different — I believe his degree is in the field of psychology. He is not a medical school trained physician yet insists on being called«Doctor» Paulman, as if he were an MD. That’s like a lawyer, who has a JD, telling people to call him«Dr.»). I called the doctor that referred me to Paulman. The first thing that they asked was«how are you?» and«what happened?» That’s what I expect from people in the medical industry. Being interrupted, being told I have to pay a small fee of $ 250 for a situation that is out of my control, and being otherwise ignored is an example of bad patient service. If the quality of patient service is this bad, I can only speculate as to the quality of other services rendered by «Dr.» Ronald G. Paulman. Sincerely, Steve
