Please stay away from this guy as he is about to go on trial though Dallas Court system and prosecuted for many sleazy business practices including bounced checks. He typically takes your diamond and writes you a bounced check then he promises to compensate you but first ladies let me tell you he will deal only with you so he can try to sexually seduce you then you never see your money. DO NOT do business with him.

Well, not that any more proof or identical reviews are needed here… but all of these stories sound exactly like mine. Steve Lax runs a fraudulent scam. Insufficient funds, after insufficient funds, excuses after excuses, lies and more lies. He has every intent to steal your goods and not pay you for them. He had me convinced of all these sob stories and tried to make me feel bad for «harassing» him to get my money (which is now 9 months late and clearly I won’t see it.) He would say things like «just be patient», «I wouldn’t be talking to you if I wasn’t going to pay you», «oops, the bank is closed», «they won’t let me do the transfer», «I wrote the check from the wrong account». He had his plan well thought out with every answer you would possibly need to understand why he chose to do business his way, why a 90 day contract, why the jewelry market works that way, and so on. My valuable asset is gone, he couldn’t tell me where it went and definitely would not return it to me. He has no problem making promises that are never going to happen… his famous line is «trust me» after not following through on his word more times than I can keep track of. He’s ruined too many of my days and should pay consequences for conducting this type of business. In August 2014, Steve’s office contacted me with interest in a diamond ring I was selling. I traveled from Austin to Dallas to meet with him on August 9, 2014.
We agreed that by September 9, 2014, he would send a check to me in the amount of $ 2,000. A written agreement was signed and my husband and I (7 months pregnant at the time) left feeling confident.
September 9, 2014 marked the first day of endless excuses from Steve Lax. Excuse after excuse, promise after promise. And my goodness — his delivery of these excuses are flawless. Here I am, exactly 3 months since his breach of contract with a promise that he will «make things right.»
Update on ***January 8, 2015*** Mr. Lax contacted MY FATHER IN LAW, not me or my husband, but my father in law to tell him to ask us to take our Unilocal reviews down and to rescind my BBB complaint. Yet, he still hasn’t fulfilled the terms of our agreement. We are still awaiting the $ 2000 check as contractually promised.
Nope.

Steve Lax is nothing but a creative criminal with his target on people who have a little more faith in humanity than they should.

Engaged in a business transaction that included me giving him a Diamond with him promising me X amount of money in 30 days. Excuse after excuse turned into him ripping me off and selling my diamond to a broker in L.A. He breached contract and refused to send me the funds. End result? I lost a valuable diamond and a great deal of my time. Avoid Steve Lax at all cost. He will smooth talk you, chat about his family, and give you empty promises to coax you into doing business with him. Learn from my mistake. Steve Lax is a criminal.
