I’m shocked! Never in my life have I been in and out of a government agency so quickly. I came here and stood in line as person #2. That’s right, person #2! That alone is a star. When I walked in I asked if I needed to take a number. Ha! People turned around and looked at me, the foreigner. Short lines without numbers must be normal here.
In Cali there’s tons of people, tons of windows, tons of chairs for you to sit in and tons a screens for you to watch to see what number has been called or is next. This was so nice (the speed, that is).
Like another reviewer mentioned, the guy at the window was friendly enough and ended up actually being quite helpful.
When you’re moving from out of state all information is helpful to streamline the process of getting settled. I’m grateful.

Whether it’s the DMV, post office or tax office… most government agencies get a much-​deserved bad wrap. So when it came time to renew my license, I was expecting the worst: a never-​ending wait, unpleasant service, and some shady characters. However, this location was a pleasant surprise. Sure I waited in a line (actually two lines) but they were so unbelievably, fast and efficient that I was in and out within 10 – 15 minutes, max. The man who assisted me friendly enough and took time to answer a couple questions I had. Their machines also appear to be newer and updated. The building was old and gloomy looking but that was expected.
Note that the office can be hard to locate, as it’s in a plaza with a bunch of other random shops. Keep your eyes peeled or you’ll be circling the road aimlessly.

They don’t get the full five stars because, being a public sector place of employment, some of the employees could brush up on their interpersonal skills. I get it, you deal with idiots all day, but not all of us are idiots and «projection» is considered a Freudian defense mechanism that can be self-​resolved.
This DPS is tucked away in a shopping center off Northwest Highway. It’s a typical government building: plain and depressing, but clean.
You immediately walk in and are asked why you are at the office. They make sure you have all the appropriate documents and then give you a number… then, it’s the waiting game.
Luckily, I was in and out in about an hour since I went on a weekday morning.
While I was waiting, one of the employees came out and gave the «be sure you have all your documents, if not you are wasting our time» speech. When my number was called to report to window 4, lo-​and-​behold, she was the one to help me get a new Texas DL license. I made a joke about «forgetting» some of my documents at home to break the ice, which indeed helped.
I will let you in on a little secret: make sure that all of your I’s are dotted and your T’s are crossed: do this by researching what you need to do, getting the forms online, fill everything out before, and triple check that you have the appropriate documents. If you do all of this and approach the individual at the window with a smile, I am sure that you will be taken care of respectfully and efficiently.

Staff is poorly trained. Just moved here from California and was told by these ppl I first needed to come in and get my license. Drove all the way out here to be told that I first need to have a vehicle inspection and get it registered. Seriously. Which is it. Absolutely irritating to come into these places. Nobody ever knows anything.
California has inspections licenses and registrations all in the same building. It’s ridiculous to have separate buildings for everything. If you’re moving to Texas really plan this stuff out because it’s gonna be extremely inconvenient and annoying.

You can set appointments at this location. I went for a drivers license renewal and it took about an hour. The service is what you would expect from the DMV.

Notification letter came in the mail with clear instruction. Arrived at location, and told the lady up front what I needed, she provided clear instruction and away I went. 30 mins later I was having lunch.
