Typical close to a college bar. Earlier in the night I enjoyed it more. after like 9pm it turns into a giant frat party. Service was decent, our waitress was friendly but at times seemed overwhelmed. My tab for the 4+ hours we were there was cheap!

If you’re in the neighborhood, Barley House is a great place to grab pizza and beer while watching a game. The beer selection is pretty extensive. Our waiter was attentive and quickly changed the channel to our game. The pizzas are between medium and large sized and can easily feed 2 – 3 people. The pizza was ok, but given the price, it was a good value. (+) beer selection (+) multiple big screen TVs

I was surprised how much I liked this place. I expected it to be a bar with a bunch of college kids but it wasn’t. The food was good and it had fun atmosphere with music. The crowd was a mix of ages and it was more of a restaurant then I expected. I will be back.

I recently moved to Dallas and was looking for a comfortable bar to watch the games at. There are lots of TVs, cheap drink specials, good food, but then after weeks of patronizing the establishment, they decided to deny me service. They claimed my out-of-state ID was fake. I understand it is near a college campus, but they need to invest in a scanner instead of relying on a stubborn manager’s judgement. I was told«even if you call the cops and they tell me it’s real, I can still deny you service». My other two friends who also moved here recently were denied as well. It looks like their strategy is to deny patrons until they run themselves into the ground. Not a place to go if you are a young professional.

Great place for HH, they have $ 3 wells, domestic drafts, $ 4 wine until 8:00. Check out their other weekly specials!

We’ve been coming here as a group for about 2 years now and we love this bar. It’s great for a group to chill, talk about the problems in the world and how to fix them, and get your drink on. The staff is awesome, drinks are great with lots of beer on draft. The pizza and loaded cheese fries are INCREDIBLE. Can’t say enough. Highly recommended

My first time here & on a Friday evening. I like their happy hours 4pm-8pm. A more extended happy hour compared to most other places; who gets home before 7? I like the atmosphere-there’s a pub/neighborhood bar feeling. My kind of place! The music playlist fully of variety alt rock. The patio is great, lots of space and tables. There are televisions outside to catch the sports and a fire pit. Dog friendly. There’s a water fountain with tap handles. The staff-two thumbs up. I had walked in from the patio, went inside to say hello and politely inquire about sitting outside. The girl cheerfully responded to let us know sit where we’d like and someone would be with us. That just happened! Desiree stopped by with menus within a few minutes. She gave us more time to look over the extensive beer list. I tried a couple beers I hadn’t before-Bishop cider(taste like apple pie) and White Rascal(white ale from CO). The beerita was okay, a bit watery. I am super pleased with the service. Desiree kept a good eye when our beers were low; we did not have to flag her down nor were we left thirsty. The service felt warm and casual. The pizza looked delicious, everyone around us was ordering it. We came in for beers only, but will be back to try pizza & wings.

I had a very pleasant experience here for my happy hour sup. I sat at the bar, and here was my experience: 1. Very cold $ 3 happy hour Shiner(and all mass produced domestics) drafts from 3 – 8 weekdays, nice 2. A few big TVs behind the bar playing sporting events, sweet 3. Respectable $ 9 half pound burger, that came with LTO, cheese, and a mound o tots. I ordered it medium rare, and it came out medium, np 4. Nice bartender, new to BH, pleasant, and interactive I have not been here since this was the Green Elephant, and BH has raised the bar(no pun intended(:) since that time with better TVs, better beer selection, and a better furnished deck, including a sweet beer tap fountain, pergolas to help break the direct sun, and a fireplace for cooler weather. This will be a fine place to watch football games in the fall and winter, happy I’ve rediscovered it :)

Total Dive Spot of Blue Collar Dudes making White Collar $ wanting to chill out, drink beer, and watch random sports. Easy Parking. The street is under construction and everything in this strip seems fairly new or being updated. The Bartender Dude here is hilarious. But the Chick(probably 45 yrs old) that told me she was married to the guitarist(probably 55 years old) but was dating the other band members brother(who is 30 years old) and they were currently in a fight was a bit more eye opening along with the stinch of greenery. LOL, Ohhhhhhhh Sunday. Apparently the selling point is $ 4 Deep Eddy… it could be free and I still would not drink that crap. Bar Games in the back… stage in the front and a huge patio with a fire pit. Not my type of place… but that is not why I was there. :-)

My first time here & I love it. We’re watching the Cowboys with the sound on, the waitresses are friendly & attentive, the food is better than expected & I love the family atmosphere. The only problem is limited parking but that’s the beaks in Dallas.

Darn fine old fashioned! Here for bourbon with my baby. Grabbed a plate of some epic fried mozzarella and a cocktail. Bartender did a great job with a nice pour.

Great neighborhood bar. One of the oldest in Dallas. Big for SMU students. OK beer selection. They have lots of TVs and games in back. Great college bar if that is what you are looking for.

This place is great to go have a drink for happy hour after work. They have $ 3 drink specials till 8 and they have half price pizzas. The patio normally fills up pretty quick so get there early if you want to sit outside! They also have a cool fountain out front made out of beer taps!

You will come here and there will be live music and you’ll feel excruciatingly, uncomfortably awkward because no one will clap for this guy. They have a good patio, but that’s where the live music will be. So when you’re there, be a decent person and clap after each song.

Fun, divey college bar, but surprisingly we really liked it. It was really dark and cool inside and is a great place to grab a beer(or two) and watch the game. I imagine it gets packed on weekend nights and then would not be my scene.

It’s a college bar. It’s teaming with SMU kids most nights of the week. If you don’t like college bars, or you have some sort of persecution complex that causes you to think others are«looking down their noses at you,» then it might not be for you. They have skee ball that only costs a quarter to play(granted, Kung Fu is free,) and lots of space inside and out. They have a pretty good selection of beers on draft and plenty of top shelf liquors to choose from. If you’ve come here before and had problems getting drinks, it’s probably because you were working with the wrong bartender. There’s a tall guy(6’5″) with a beard, I think his name is Kyle, and he’s far and away the best bartender there. You can get his attention, your drink and your tab all while the female bartenders are still chatting with each other and ignoring the throngs of people clamoring for drinks at the bar. If the bar is busy, and Kyle isn’t there, I go to Milos. They also regularly have live music inside and out in the parking lot.

Why have I not been coming here for years now? I’ve lived in Dallas most of my life and I probably haven’t been to the Barley House in 10 or 15 years. Last night I went thanks to the lure of their $ 3 drafts on Tuesdays and was pleasantly surprised. This is my kind of place(and the $ 3 beer didn’t hurt). The Barley House just seemed like a comfortable, neighborhood kind of place that’s pretty much no frills but not a total dive either. The night I went it was pretty dead inside which I appreciated but I don’t know what it’s like on the weekends. My fears of being surrounded by SMU D-Bags were unfounded(at least last night). I will definitely add the Barley House to my regular rotation, especially on Tuesday nights for $ 3 drafts!
