The Dog Lofts

Had a great experience today! It was very seamless to make an appointment and since my dog already goes to city vet, they had all his records and information. No filling anything out or showing proof of shots. He is three years old and it was his first time getting a hair cut. I had been putting this off for a very long time because I know he can be a little difficult, especially around other dogs and people. If he was difficult in any way today the staff did not show it or make me feel uncomfortable. After he was washed, the groomer called me right before he started the haircut to ask me what I wanted. The level of professionalism was exceptional. Overall, I was very pleased with everyone I interacted with at The Dog Lofts. Thank you!

We boarded Chewy here while we went out of town. Unfortunately, our flight home was delayed 30 minutes. I called the Dog Lofts and told Tim we were running a little late to pick Chewy up because of the delay. Tim very graciously offered to stay a few minutes past closing to wait for us and had Chewy all ready to go when we got there. We are so appreciative!

I am a long term patron. I began using these folks when I was traveling for a living. I boarded my Springer Spaniel and Dalmatians here. Sadly the dogs spent many nights, but I will tell you that I never worried about them because when I would say we are going to board, both dogs tails wagged. My dogs love going here and that tells me everything. Fast forward from 2004 2011. My Dalmatian puppy Ty boarded and day played here from 12 weeks and at this review writing he is 6. Here comes 2015 and my new Dalmatian puppy, who is deaf, started his boarding, socializing and day play experiences with the folks at the Lofts from age 15 weeks. All my dogs have grown up and old boarding and day playing at the Lofts. Staff knows my name here, they know my dogs names, they know what I expect and they have never failed to deliver exceptional care for my dogs.
I have seen a lot of staff come and go here, there are many many faces at the Lofts that have been there YEARS. My experience is long term happy employees are a good thing for me and my dogs. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, caring, accommodating and just fine folks. Everyone is good, some are exceptional and some are on my list of the best people ever. My favorite thing here is that I can leave the babies for day play and the City Vet folks will manage getting them any vet services I need.
I use the Lofts for boarding, day play, bathing and their association with City Vet makes me confident that my dogs will be safe and cared for under any circumstances. Over the years I have had a couple occasions where my dog has become ill and my standing orders that they take care of my dogs regardless have been exercised.
Special shout outs to Amanda, Tim, and Rusty, In summary I trust The Lofts to provide as good or better care for dogs than I would myself. My almost 20 year use of their services should tell you I trust the Lofts with my family.

Friendly, courteous staff that was beyond helpful & accommodating. I recommend them 100%!! A special shout out to staff member Daisy — she was a great help & excellent in customer service!

Great service, super nice personnel. We use to both board and day care. I completely trust them and my dog is still excited every day when we pull up to the lofts.

I’ve always had a really good experience here. They know my dog as soon as we walk in the door, and are pretty fast about getting him from the front, and returning him when I arrive to pick him up. The rates are reasonable for day play, and he always come back home smelling good! Not sure if they spray them or wipe them down at the end of the day, but we aren’t complaining!
Another plus that they are connected to our vet across the street just in case anything were to ever happen.
One thing I wish they had were the cameras some other locations have in there doggy areas so you can check in if you wanted to.

They’re lucky to even get 1 star. Dropped off my dog before 8 for a bath, teeth cleaning and nail clipping. Arrived around 330 to pick him up and it was clear that he had not been bathed (he still smelled and was shedding) nor had his nails trimmed yet they said he was ready to go. Spoke with manager and they took him back to get bathed and nails trimmed. Mind you, my dog had been in their possession all day. His nails and bath were shoddy at best. Will never return to dog lofts for services.

I’ve given this location more chances than any business should ever get. From filling out the grooming appointment form online and never getting a call back, to dealing with a rude person on multiple occasions, to scheduling an appoinent by phone and showing up and them having no record of it, I’m done. I picked up my dog from a grooming appointment and the cut was totally different than what they had done before, and they had cut off way more than I asked. I was shocked and mentioned to the manager in the lobby that it was totally different than what I was expecting, only to be blown off. I got a survey via email (if memory serves) following the appointment asking how the experience was, and I commented that I wasn’t happy. The same manager who had been in the lobby when I picked my dog up had the gall to call me asking what he could do. Perhaps handle it correctly the first time. The next grooming appointment was the one where they somehow lost any record of my reservation, and they actually brought the wrong dog out when my husband went to pick him up. They argued with my husband that the wrong dog was ours, which is pretty ridiculous when you think about it. I’m pretty sure we know what our dog looks like. A few weeks after that same appointment, I notice that my dog is licking his paws in an odd manner. I take a closer look at his paws and notice that his nails were clearly not clipped during his previous appointment, though it’s part of the package we always request. I love and will continue to use the affiliated vet clinic across the street, but I’m done with the Oak Lawn grooming location.

Brought my dog here since I usually go to the vet across the street. I’ll be gone for only 3 days and called them a week beforehand to schedule a reservation for my dog. They called me the NIGHT before saying my dogs had shots due but when I went to the vet last month and asked the VET when his next shots were due, he told me «next year in January.» Anyways; I didn’t complain and asked the Dog Lofts if they would kindly do it for me. When dropping him off this morning I asked for a total when picking him up Sunday. Lady there was quite rude and told me shots were $ 115, boarding was $ 36, and day play was $ 10. I then asked her again what the total would be when I pick him up on Sunday. She then bluntly told me «around $ 285»
Absolutely ridiculous rates for just being out of town for a weekend. If I knew this beforehand I would’ve brought my dog to his trainer who TOLD me the price for his stay was only $ 100.95 .
*Update. I had the manager call me on my birthday and apologize for the miscommunication. He was VERY professional and nothing like like receptionists I talked to and told me they were going to improve from this! 4 stars for him.

I was called by the new manager in regards to my review. He told me his plan to change the culture. He seems very dedicated and committed to insuring the dogs have a wonderful stay.

Boarded my dog for 3 nights recently while I went out of town. Front desk staff was LESS than friendly, didn’t give me any information about pickup times on Sunday (when I was returning) didn’t ask for emergency contact info in case I was unable to be reached, I didn’t fill any information out, was asked only 1 question «any medications?» I was leaving the next morning or I would’ve taken her elsewhere. Upon pickup, they didn’t give me a receipt for my transaction, tell me any news about my dogs stay, etc. Very impersonal service in what I consider to be an important factor– pets are family and like children to a lot of people and it seemed this staff simply wanted to get their paycheck & go home every day. Will not be returning. Even though City Vet White Rock is a bit more of a drive for me, I will be taking my dog there from now on!
*update*- upon posting this review, I received a phone call from the manager, with a sincere apology regarding the staff issues mentioned above. She also refunded my boarding fees, although I tried to talk her out of it because that is not at all what this review was about. I am bumping my review to 3 stars from 1 because I consider this to be a thoughtful gesture when she didn’t have to take time out of her day to do so.

Let me start out by saying my dog is literally my child! I travel a lot for work so my dog has probably boarded more times in 4 years than most will in a lifetime.
I found this location when I moved to Uptown and needed a boarder closer to make help me leaving town a little easier. It’s very close to my apartment and my first visit seemed like it was a great match. Umm wrong.
I had her bathed during a boarding and when I went to pick her up she was in a kennel at the front desk just waiting, how long had she been in there? Who knows. When I got her out of my car she immediately went to the bathroom multiple times and could not get enough water, which really concerned me. When I fed her that evening I had to slow her down she was eating so fast which is also not her norm. I brought this up to the staff at her next check-​in and they let me know it was not unusual for dogs not to use the bathroom or eat when boarding away from home… but she has boarded at other places multiple times and this had never been an issue. Either way, they made a note about it and carried on.
When I picked up my dog from four days of boarding today she had been bathed but her face looked like it hadn’t been brushed, at all. As soon as I got her out at home… again with the needing to go to the bathroom multiple times right away. We walked by a fountain that we walk by daily and she immediately went to it and started trying to drink the water, she usually doesn’t even go up to it. She also came home with no dog tags on her collar… I called to request them be returned and they were taken off her collar during her bath but at least returned to me.
I do really appreciate that when my dog needs a updated shot I drop her off and they get it taken care of for me, saves me a lot of time! But I don’t appreciate the particular staff member who cuts you off on the phone, doesn’t answer your question and responds to you with a mmhmmmm. Not a thank you or your welcome just a mmhmmmm. Every time.
I’ve really tried to look past these few things and make sense of them or let them go but I no longer can. I would rather drive an extra 20 minutes to drop my dog off at a trusted boarder than worry if they are actually caring for my animal.

Fantastic, friendly staff. They are super attentive and I feel confident in the safety and well being of my dogs during their stay. Our pups always come home clean and happy.

I tried this place out for about 3 months for daycare and it was a bad experience for my little Yorkie mix. When I would drop off and pick up the staff was super nice. Everyone remembers you and your dog so you feel like they’re on top of it. False! They are not. Towards the end my dog started to come home saturated in her own urine. Possibly another dogs urine, but anyway she was definitely soaked in urine. The first few times I figured things happen and bathed her when we got home. But this horrible experience became the norm so I casually said something. I was fed tons of excuses and assured that the dogs are monitored constantly and the floor is cleaned immediately after an accident. Um… Really? So the urine saturated fur is my imagination? After the complaint they actually spot cleaned my dog prior to my next pick up as if the only issue was the inconvenience of washing her myself. How about keeping the floor urine free instead??? How could these «accidents» be there long enough for the dogs to lounge in it if someone is monitoring at all times? Don’t just cover it up by putting waterless shampoo and perfume on top of filth! I literally saw red and haven’t been back since. Other reviews mention injuries to their pets and I could easily see how that could happen since supervision is so lax. Who wants to pay for day care and then get a urine soaked dog after a long day at work??? It’s inhumane treatment for my poor little dog and so very gross to ride home with a that foul odor in my car!
The day care is not properly managed which is a recipe for any number of disasters for your beloved pet. I will never use them again.

Love this place!!! The staff treat myself and my pup like VIP guests every time. very helpful and welcoming. I have been coming weekly for a year now and want to give them the credit they deserve. My dog plays all day and it makes me a very happy dog mom. I’d like to thank them for all their welcoming staff. The employees really make a difference in our live and anyone reading this can be assured that they will get the same experience and satisfaction.

I’ve been to lofts several times but after my last two experiences I doubt I’ll be back. When I picked her up on a Sunday it was obvious she hadn’t been taken out since early in the morning. Since I used them before I figured okay I’ll give them one more shot. This time when I picked her up I had her bathed. Well took her to park later that day and noticed all her nails were cut past the quick and the poor dog was bleeding from all her paws. Needless to say I was less than happy.

The Dog Lofts are the best!
We use to take our dog to Petsmart but on a couple occasions would swing by and not see him playing. I had heard good things about the Dog Lofts so we tried them out. I will never go anywhere else.
They go out of their way to greet our dog and us by name, know exactly how to feed him (he’s a picky eater) and deal with how crazy he is. The Dog Lofts are not on my way to work or home, but I drive out of my way to take him there.
Not enough great things can be said about the whole staff and how attentive and caring they are.

This is about 6 months overdue. Had been patronizing the groomers for about a year without incident until we got the call.
While trimming our dog, they had accidentally cut our dogs belly and he needed stitches. They did the right thing and had him immediately taken to the vet to get taken care of. However, when I went to pick him up, and asked if they would comp the haircut given the fact they cut our pup, they bluntly told me «we took care of the stitches» and didn’t feel obligated to waive the cost of the actual haircut.
I see no difference between this and if I go to the barbers, they cut my ear and then still want me to pay for the haircut.
Mistakes happen. But how a business responds is the difference maker. We haven’t been back since.

Let me start off by saying that I read reviews for everything but have yet to write one. That should say something about me taking the time to write this review for The Dog Lofts!
I’ve been taking my 3 year old golden retriever to the Oak Lawn location for nearly two years (when I first moved from Austin) and can honestly say I would never take her anywhere else. The staff is wonderful and you can tell that they truly care about ALL of the animals and know each of them by name. As soon as someone walks in, they know exactly which dog belongs to them.
Hallie is so eager to get in there when I drop her off in the morning she nearly knocks me down and is WIPED OUT when I pick her up. The front desk girls are always genuinely happy to see her when we get there and give her a treat and a pat on the head when we leave. It makes me feel good knowing that my dog is in the care of capable, attentive, and dog-​loving people when I’m at work or gone for the weekend!
I would (and have!) recommend the Dog Lofts to anyone who wants the best for their dog! Reasonable prices, excellent care, and happy tired pups! What more could you ask for?

Just an update to reiterate my very positive experience with The Dog Lofts Oak Lawn.
My original review was from January 2010 and we continued to take our darling, all be it energetic & very sassy 3 year old golden retriever here for daycare a few times per week and for overnight boarding. We recently moved out of Dallas and VERY MUCH miss this wonderful business!
I believe they changed management at least once since 2010 but most of the staff (at least the folks that the customers see up front at the pickup/​dropoff desk) remained, so for us the changes were immaterial. Even the prices didn’t really change too much.
The facility is clean and there is always someone there watching your dog (s). Each dog is treated with kindness and the staff all really seem to enjoy working there.
Now, after moving to a new city and trying unsuccessfully to find a similar daycare/​boarding facility for our girl, I can most definitely, highly recommend The Dog Lofts Oak Lawn for its excellent, well-​priced and thoughtful dog daycare and boarding services. Keep up the great work, guys! We miss you!
