The Lounge

For years, The Lounge at the Inwood Theatre was the official clubhouse for the weekly Thursday girl’s night out. I can’t even begin to tell you how many martinis I’ve sipped here over the last ten years. I’m sure the number has to end in something over three zeros. (I think that it nearly coincides with the number of boys that have taken me here.)
In my heart, the Lounge will forever be the only real cool bar in Dallas. I mean, really, how many martini bars have their own waterfall topped with neon? The Lounge reminds me of this little place on the East side in NYC where I got my first proposal at the age of 22 from a complete stranger named Marty. (And, yes, he was serious.)
And if you have never been to the Lounge, don’t even think of ordering something other than a martini. You’d be a low-​life to ask the barkeep for a Coors Light or even a margarita. A bar this cool demands that you’re sipping a martini. (You want a beer? Head down the street a block or two for the Time Out Tavern.)
And if you do happen into the Lounge, don’t tell them that you know Lexie. I swear they’ll throw you out on your ear.
Really.
Even though it’s been quite some time, I’m sure that more than a few of the patrons remember the night where …(blushing)…I did a very public table dance.

Oh, the exuberance of youth mixed with four martinis.

(And who was that guy that got me to do it? And did he tell me he had a Ferrari?)
