The Marvel Experience

Standing in lines to stand in lines for entertainment designed for six year olds.
Utter waste of time. Go do something more enjoyable, like manual castration.

I saw the mixed reviews and still went here since I really want to see what’s up with the experience. On Friday night, the location was pretty tame. We didn’t get to the correct parking according to the directions so after seeing where everyone else parked, we were able to get in line. The registration process wasn’t that smooth either. My app crashed good thing I already created a username and password for the recruit account.
Taking pictures is also hard since you don’t know where the camera is.
After getting inside, there was an introduction and then the main dome. We tried the maze and the shooting game. Finally the Iron man game, one reviewer was right, it’s a kinect style interface. Good for kids but not worth the price.

I had a blast! This spot is definitely for the «young at heart,» and I am a «big ol’ kid.» :-)
The Marvel Experience strikes a nice balance of both adult and kid fun. I went at 10am and there were more adults than kids there. Around 12:30, it was about ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ — little people and big people.
You are surrounded by noise (mostly laser blasts) and bright flashing lights and big screens! How could you not love this place?! The games are fun, but easy, so that all levels can play and enjoy.
Parking is an extra $ 10 on top of your ticket price… but, that is a fact of life at any big event in Texas.
Some loved it, some did not… I loved it!
I couldn’t give it 5 stars because I feel Marvel should have spaced tickets out at an hourly interval, as opposed to the ½ hour interval. Around 12:45pm, the crowd had become very large, and the lines were getting excessively long.

We went for the Unilocal experience which I was really reluctant to go in the first place because I was afraid of how cheesy everything was going to be. Nevertheless, we got free tickets, (besides the $ 10 parking pass), free t-​shirts, and free drinks (including beer!) so I can’t complain. This event is very expensive in my opinion. I can see this experience being very fun for the age groups 8 – 14 years old but any older or younger, it can feel cheesy or confusing. So for a family of 4 or more, be prepared to fork out over $ 100. That’s not including food/​drinks, photos, and gift shop.
I guess it was opening day that we went and the weather was still cold so there was no line for us. We climbed the wall, did some avoiding laser things, flipped through some electronic records of comics, and enjoyed some beers. I could easily see a line for the games and I would be extremely annoyed for what it’s worth. The staff made it enjoyable though. They were so into their characters that I couldn’t help but laugh. Overall, it’s a one-​time experience for me. You’ve been warned about the price and the lines so if you’re going to check it out anyways, try to have fun.

Pretty cool concept. I don’t want to give too much away. People should experience it for themselves. The whole thing took us an hr and half to get through. The time frame might be different if you’re with kids. I enjoyed putting myself in this kind of environment once in awhile. Just so nice and simple to be a kid again. The employees were really into their job and played the role. My favorite part of the experience was the training room and the finale.
I’d take my little nephew here since he loves superheroes and Marvel.

Hello Recruits! Listen up! We need you to save the world!
It was a great interactive experience with the Marvel super heroes! You get to climb like spiderman, fly like ironman, and take selfies with hulk, what’s not to love about it?
The whole process takes about two hours, and the staff is very helpful along way.
I would also recommend taking the kids there. They would have a blast!

What a fun experience! I absolutely love Marvel so when I saw this event I had to get in. We were worried about the cold weather but a lot of the events were inside so that was awesome. What I loved the most was how involved and in character the Marvel «special agents» were! They were all having fun with us and seemed like they loved being there.
all the fun games in the training section were super entertaining and the 3D movie along with the ride were exciting! So glad I got to start off my 2015 Unilocal year with this event. Awesome job!

This event sounded really interesting so I was pretty excited to go! From the moment we arrived, we were just filled with surprises! Totally didn’t expect the free shirts or complimentary drinks, thank you so much for that! What was really cool and consistent throughout the whole thing was how enthusiastic and «in — the — character» all the people who worked there were! They made the event feel so legit, like we are truly shield agents in training. Each of the activities were really cool. Some were really hard to do like the hulk punch and the ironman flying thing, perhaps the sensor just can’t detect me coz I’m too short! But they were fun anyways. I really liked the laser maze! I have always wanted to do that every time I see it at the mall hehe I’m really glad I did it and I even placed 4^th! Who woulda thought? The final ride was really cool, the graphics they used here were awesome.
Overall, I had a good time at this event but I think younger children would definitely enjoy this place a lot more than adults (unless you’re a serious Marvel fan). Thanks for the experience!

So honestly, i wasn’t expecting much out of this event. Yes I’m a fan of Marvel but i figured the event would be tailored toward the 7 – 13 age group… Aaaaaand I was wrong.
First of all, you get a S.H.I.E.L.D. ID card after you complete your «training». You also get a Marvel shirt… did i mention you get a S.H.I.E.L.D. ID card? Shout out to Giordan C. for sort of convincing me to go. There’s plenty to do at the Marvel Experience. Want to be like Petey Parker and climb a wall? Want to be like Black Widow and use your acrobatic moves to avoid lasers? Want to be like Iron Man and fly around? The Marvel Experience is just for you.

Would be more fun if the wait times wouldn’t be so ridiculously long. 1 hour for a 45 second wall climb?
Otherwise a cool experience for kids and nerds.

I was so excited to be invited to to go to
the Marvel Experience in Dallas and had no idea what to expect. From the moment you get to the gate you are instantly swept into a real life comic training experience.
One of my favorite parts was creating the S.H.I.E.L.D. badge and coming up with my Super Hero name and persona.
In the first dome you begin training as a new recruit, everything from shooting practice, navigating laser beams, Spider-​Man flying practice, which I wasn’t so good at and kept crashing into the mountain side. Also there was punching practice like the Hulk and climbing wall area like Spider-​Man. It was really fun and kinda like Wii games but it without holding anything in your hand.
The next dome was one of the coolest 3-​D experiences I have ever had of that type. It was so realistic I ducked a few times because I thought things were actually flying at my head! The only reason I didn’t give this experience 5 stars is because it was really hard to follow the story line, especially in this dome. While I understand it’s loud to be life like, it takes a little while to adjust to the 3-​D experience. Once you are adjusted and you are finally following along then that portion is over and on to the next Dome.
The last dome was one of my favorites because you sit in a chair and it’s like you are riding in an aircraft, very cool, wish this part was a little longer.
Overall, I loved the experience and may even bring my nephews back!

Had it not been for the awesome folks at Unilocal Dallas, this would have been a very bad experience. My family and I were going to shell out $ 120+ for tickets to The Marvel Experience. Boy am I glad we didn’t!
The Marvel Experience is split into several different training areas leading to the 3D experience. In my opinion, this is geared for young kids but at $ 40/​tickets, I don’t feel it’s worth it. My 13 year old was not impressed and we are huge Marvel fans.

Hey guys, it’s official. I’m a trained agent in S.H.I.E.L.D! Lol! It was certainly different than anything I’ve ever been to before. I think most of Dallas got scared off by the horrible reviews from their opening city tour in Phoenix because it was so empty! Thankfully, I didn’t encounter any of the issues brought up, but if there were more people there, I could definitely understand how they would become frustrated with waiting in long lines.
When you get in, you will create your agent identification card which they will give you a hard copy of. You’ll also be emailed a copy. After that, you’ll enter into the training area, where they have rock climbing walls, 3d shooting theater, a maze game where you have to avoid the laser lights, and more. The graphics of the place were awesome. They sure love using 3D. They had a lot of various games which seemed to be more geared towards children. After this, you’ll enter into the worlds only 360-​degree 3d dome theater which will show you a pretty cool video of the mission you are about to embark upon, then you’ll go into a seated theater where you will save the world! The theater seats move, and it’s a blast! But if you are unable to take part in such things, there are certain rows that do not move, you just need to ask an agent — err, employee. After you go through the whole thing, you’ll end up in the gift shop where you can pick up your hard copy of the ID card.
Overall, I had a great time. but because I’m not really familiar with the Marvel comics or movies, so I didn’t really appreciate it as much. There was a lot left to be desired. They really gear it towards the super-​fan, and I would say it’s a must do if you consider yourself one.

If it wasn’t for Unilocal,it would be the first let down of the year for me. I know the the experience is geared towards much younger crowd and I wasn’t expecting anything big but it seems like some kids I saw there was not having fun as I would have expect it to be. The kid wearing that Spider-​Man shirt and mask was just right there standing and not a bit of excitement on his face. Was it just me or was he tired walking around? Idk.
The staff are very helpful and are really into what they there for. I even heard one of the guys say «make sure to take good care of the Unilocalers» I’m guessing that’s one of their big guys. I just wished there was a guide or something so we are not like a lost puppy in the activity room. The high light of my night is the Black Widow Agility Maze. My boyfriend and I did really well and was informed that our time is in the Top 10(5 to be exact)
Initially I was going to take my nephew and now I’m thinking it would be a bad idea. He’ll probably criticize it more than me. I just wish there was more. I left the place with a blank face.

I’m not a huge huge Marvel fan but I do like Spiderman, Iron man and of course The Hulk. But I don’t follow them that closely or know the specific details of each ones background. The experience was fun, very elaborate. The staff was helpful, excited, and enthusiastic about all the new «recruits» that were attending this evening & they were all ready to start our «training». After purchasing your tickets you are greeted by a few staff members with information that you & the new crop of agents will be experiencing. We were also provided with a super power wrist band & directed to the monitors to create your agent S.H.I.E.L.D badge. (You will be asked to create a user name, password and provide an email address) they e-​mail a copy of the badge and it’s pretty cool. We picked ours up at the end in gift shop.
There are 8 training stations
S.H.I.E.L.D plaza– this is the outside area where you create your ID & they also have a green screen for pictures. (opportunity to purchase these at the end).
Recruit staging area — this is a holding area where we were told several times the next area has the restrooms & the energy café. Once we leave that area it would be about 35 minutes before we are new any other restroom. Fair warning, if you need to go then you better go before moving on.
S.H.I.E.L.D Mobile command — You enter a room where Nick Fury briefs everyone about the threat and prepares you for the training you are about to receive. The volume in this domed room is loud if you have sensitive ears.
Recruit training center — This is the big dome, most everything is in here. This has several stations where you can hone your skills in preparation for the battle with the enemy. The energy café has snacks & bottled drinks. There is also a candy mixing station.
I did the Hulk out (you control Hulk by swinging your arms & smashing the enemy, Flight training with Iron man (you are standing & controlling iron man flying & trying to shoot the enemy is pretty difficult. I was better at crashing face first into the ground),
The Avengers encounter was my favorite & very cool, you strike certain poses depending on which hero you want to summon. The hologram image of the character appears on the screen as if it was standing right next to you. This was my favorite & the staff was very helpful, friendly & offered to take a picture of me while my character was next to me.
The Holo blaster training simulator was a 3D shooting game, it was fun & you could see your score as your going along.
The adapatoid evacuation site was an interactive conveyor belt where you virtually dug for pieces to what? I’m not sure, machinery or weapons i presume.
They also had the black widow agility maze & Spider-​man climbing wall, which I did not attempt. There is potential for long lines at each of these, so be prepared to wait & the actual activity itself will go quick. The night I went was very slow.
Simularium — Before you go in you’re given a little package of three medallions to put on your power band. This is a 360 3D dome, you’re given glasses to watch the video and I must say it’s a bit difficult to see since the screen is massive and you’re standing, straining your neck to see everything. After the video is over you are quickly rushed to the next holding area.
Transport coordinator — This is where you wait for the next activity and Spider-​Man briefs you on safety.
Transport hanger — This was cool, it’s a dome shape theater this time. it housed a 4D ride where the seats move, jolt, vibrate and blow air on you. The whole front row does not move so if you prefer not to experience the «ride» you can sit in the front. If you like the thrill of the ride i would suggest trying to get towards the middle or the back rows so you can have a better view. I was in the second row and again straining the neck to look up. But this was another of my favorite activities of the night.
S.H.I.E.L.D shop — This is where we picked up our S.H.I.E.L.D badges my picture was dark, wish there was better lighting at that station in the very beginning. You can also view your green screen photo from the very beginning and they will tell you the various picture packages. Shirts, koozies, belts, dog leashes, banks, photos, Fat heads, framed picture/​art, reusable cups, all that and more is available for purchase. They also had a photo shop where they would create your 3D image and could put you standing next to your favorite Marvel character.
Overall I enjoyed the experience, not something I would normally attend. In my opinion, most adults will be done in about 20 minutes. The kids on the other hand will want to do everything. If it’s a slow time you can do things more than once, you have unlimited time in the training center. Your little ones who love Marvel will want to do it ALL.

A Unilocal Marvel Experience. Wow. I had mixed expectations due to the reviews in the West. The workers were all enthusiastic throughout the whole event.
1) SHIELD Plaza — this is where you pick up your tickets, bracelet and Marvel Experience T-​shirts. Next you register and make your photo ID to be picked up at the SHIELD Shop at the end. You also get a photo taken on a green screen. At the SHIELD Shop you pick up your free 4×6 photo with two selectable backgrounds: Captain America or Red Skull.
2) Recruit Staging Area — mostly talking
3) SHIELD Mobile Command — mostly visual and talking
4) Recruit Training Center — this is where the fun part is at. My favorites were the Black widow Agility Maze (#6 high score on Hard!) and Holo-​Blaster Training Simulator (#1 high score!). The Spider-​Man Climbing Wall is fun but be ready to be out of breath. It is 45 seconds of almost non-​stop rock climbing.
–There is also food and drinks served here, Superhero Juice!
5) Simularium — this part hurt my next cause everything was projected onto a 360 dome
6) Transport Corridor — mostly visual and talking
7) Transport Hangar — a seated theater 3-​D motion visual experience. This was pretty awesome
8) SHIELD Shop — a place to pick up your SHIELD ID, 4×6 photo and Marvel merchandise.
Overall a fun experience and even if I did have to pay $ 40, I would have been happy.

All these other negative reviews are forgetting one crucial fact: COMICS ARE FOR KIDS. I invite you to remember yourself as a child. What would you at 7 years old have thought of the Marvel Experience? You would’ve had a BLAST ;-)
They have a host of activities that could satisfy the most hyper ADD child. You could literally spend the whole day in the main dome. All the other domes are not as fun as the main dome. All the other domes show various movies; interactive movies on computer touch screens, movies on small screens, movies on big screens with shaking seats, 3d movies, 360 degree movies projected onto a dome, etc. Once you leave the main dome, you are NOT allowed to go back, so play all the games in the main dome as many times as you want until you are satisfied before moving on to the next dome.
Here are the fun games in the main dome;
1. First person shooter game where you compete with all the other people in the room and shoot at the same time. This is much better than playing first person shooter games in your own home because you are competing with a room full of real live people. Oh, and if you shoot a target, the target blows up so the other shooters in the room cannot shoot it! If you’re a good shot, bet some food with your fellow shooters to see who will make the highest score. I made the highest score in the room! Yay!
2. Rock climbing. At first glance it is lame because the wall is soo low, but, wait, the wall moves like a vertical conveyer belt! So, you’ll never reach the top of the wall no matter how much you climb! They have 3 walls next to each other. This means you can compete against other people to see who climbs to the top of the virtual building first. Don’t eat before you climb or you’ll throw up! (don’t ask me how I know!)
3. Laser avoidance game. You are in a room full of lasers. You have to run into the room and hit some buttons in a sequence without tripping the laser beams. You are timed and ranked. More competitions! Little kids beat me because they’re smaller and and crawl around the laser beams better.
4. Then, there are some NIntendo WII — like games you can play such as Iron man. You tilt your body left or right to make the virtual iron man fly left or right. You shoot your enemies by putting your hands forward. The computer keeps track of your time. The less time you take to complete the mission, the better. I beat everyone there! Yay!
5. Another WII like game is Incredible Hulk. You punch and jump to make the Hulk destroy his enemies. I beat everyone there. Yay!
This Marvel Experience is like a Dave and Busters where you are allowed to play all you want without having to feed quarters for every game. I am real cheap so I hate feeding quarters. Kids under 4 years old get to go for free. I saw a lady bring in a dozen kids, all under the age of 4. LOL.
If you have hyperactive pre teen children, do yourself a favor and bring them here. They will have a blast. Do NOT bring your adult comic book fan friends. Adults lack that naïveté and suspension of disbelief necessary to have fun at a place like this.
I’m really childish so I had a blast. All the guys there thought that they surely would be better at shooting guns and playing video games than a GIRL. Nope. I made so many bets and won soo much food! Yay!
I had a total blast and I only have one complaint. I did not see any superhero characters wandering about offering to take pictures with me! This would’ve been a 5 star experience if I got to take my picture next to a superhero. Yeah, they had digital pictures where they photoshopped you next to a superhero, but that’s just not the same. That, and they really do need a toilet cleaner guy to constantly clean the toilets. Young children are not fully potty trained and if there is nobody constantly cleaning the toilet stalls all day, it could get really gross really fast. They had a security guy stand there and watch the porta potties all day, but nobody to clean it. Sheesh, do away with the security guy and hire a toilet cleaner guy. They also had a ton of security just walking about. Put those guys in superhero uniforms for people to take pictures with.
P. S. Another Unilocaler wrote a review that said he saw them taking high tech pictures for $ 1000. Sheesh, you’re showing your age. All school kids know that it was NOT a photo booth but a 3d scanning booth and it is not a $ 1000 picture but a 3d print. They have a machine that will make a small statue of yourself that is extremely detailed. They have these 3d printers in a lot of schools now. Most kids know what 3d printing is and is familiar with 3d scanners and 3d printers. Adults like Zac S has no clue and think it is a «high tech photo booth». It’s called a generation gap.
They only had porta potties (gross), so go to the bathroom at home BEFORE you go. To be fair, the porta potties were clean but I was there on a slow day.
They’re NOT 30.06 posted & no wanding. Bag checks, so carry holstered on body.

My experience was a good one, I really enjoyed myself a lot. It was a fun way to spend the night with friends. I am a kid at heart and have loved comics since I can remember. The whole staff was really in to it, and had me hyped the whole time. Super friendly with great attitudes! Treated everyone with great respect. Outside we were told to make profiles for ourselves. We were given wrist bands and t-​shirts. We took photos and had some good laughs before entering. Inside our mission started and the graphics were great. I was taken in from the moment I stepped in. Good story line to follow, and the staff was 100% on it. Loved it!
Yet I have to be completely honest… IF I had to have paid for this event, I wouldn’t have been as pleased. This is definitely a family event, VERY kid friendly.
As an adult it went by too quickly and the games were too easy. EVERYTHING was geared to children ages 5 – 13 years old. All of the fun stuff was done in the main doom. Once you left that area you couldn’t go backwards. The rest of the experience was basically a movie ride, like the one at 6flags. Like I said before I’m a kid at heart, so I made the best of it.
Overall, this is no comic con event just a family friendly game center.

Disclaimer: I attended thanks to Unilocal,but those who follow my reviews know that I’m painfully honest and a tad snarky to boot, so here we go.
By this point, many who’ve been looking forward to this event have gotten wind of the fiasco in AZ. Yikes right? If nothing worked regarding the 4-​D experience or the ride, it would ruin the whole thing. It would feel like a complete ripoff of the highest order. Well, this is a new day, new state and I think the justified feedback definitely got some things back on track. So, this is my ultimate two-​cents.
I say the fun is relative. I had my expectations adjusted to know that NOTHING will ever top movie effects or the power of my imagination. So, if you’re able to let go of expectations, go in with an open mind, and get into the spirit of things, you are more apt to have a good time. The workers are super in character and they are awesome. They really set the mood for the whole thing. Just go in, be in character, have fun, and interact with the staff. They want you to have a great time and they will take pictures for you and everything.
While the features were nothing new for me as a Marvel fangirl, I appreciated how much the kiddos around me learned about superheroes most never heard of. They did a great job giving back stories and bringing it to a new generation. The first part is fun although be it a lil’ cheesy, but fun never the less. It doesn’t get really cool until you enter the section 3. That is when you experience the 4-​D and the ride. I love how much I found myself smiling. It was truly a sensory experience.
With that said, I would have been PISSED if I paid for VIP tonight. I definitely would not have seen the benefit, but that has more to do with it being a low crowd tonight. I personally would not have seen too much added benefits for the money. I believe it will be different on the busier days when the lines are long.
As for the vending area, I was happy with the prices. I actually price compared online while I was in there because I’m a tight ass like that. LOL!
I’m not sure what all people were expecting. I do think Marvel hyped it up a bit too much on the website, but that’s what they always do. Remember the Hulk movie? Awful. What I did learn is that I will ALWAYS want to be a super villain over a superhero. Now if I can only figure out why… Too bad being one wasn’t an option. :)

This was definitely a let-​down for me… I’ve been passionately ‘thumbing’ through comics since I was seven, so it’s safe to assume I’m a real life Sheldon Cooper. Even my guest for the evening was quite underwhelmed and she is very easy to please, so here it goes!
The Marvel Experience is zoned in eight different and individual domes and or zones:
1) S.H.I.E.L.D. Plaza — Here you register personal specs for your ID Badge (received in the gift shop at the end) and receive a Marvel Experience Band that allows access to domes beyond.
2) Recruit Staging Area — A large room with nine televisions that brief you on the up-​coming events, sort of… I viewed this part as the «beginning of the end».
3) S.H.I.E.L.D. Mobile Command — This dome is basically an upgraded version of the previous one where you are informally introduced to Spider-​man, The Vision, Wolverine, Thor, Iron Man (for the second time), Captain America, Black Widow, and The Hulk.
4) Recruit Training Center — This is the «Central Hub» of sorts where you find out if your money was well spent or not. You can explore the Hero Archives (interactive), Tech Armory, Holo-​Blaster Training Simulation (3D shooting game), Spider-​man Rock Climbing Wall (interactive), Avengers Encounter (interactive), Black Widow Agility Maze (very interactive), Mark 47 Flight Training (interactive), Villain Archives and the Energy Café (yes, food).
5) Simularium — While this was a great idea in theory, having seats that spin with the animation would’ve be so much smarter. You have a 360 degree dome screen with action occurring at all sections, which cause you to violently turn to keep up. In addition, you must tilt your neck back uncomfortably for many minutes… I’m literally at home several hours after with a shoulder and neck ache, ouch! I’m young and in shape so THIS SHOULDN’T HAPPEN! :(
6) Transport Corridor — A prep room before the final attraction that lays the groundwork for the climax.
7) Transport Hangar — Video simulation ride and show that wraps up everything rather sloppily and disjointed.
8) S.H.I.E.L.D. Shop — Several small dome gift shops are littered throughout as well as a high-​tech photo booth that can cost upwards of $ 1,000!
You can tell that a lot of time was invested into training the «S.H.I.E.L.D. Staff» littered throughout the complex, however it comes across as extremely cheesy and annoying. This experience is obviously for kids and their parents. There’s absolutely nothing wrong for this target market, however if a little more time and money was invested into this endeavor, I feel that something special would’ve existed instead of a «Galactus-​sized disappointment».
