The chicken wrap with the homemade chips and the special sauce with it is to die for. The service is great and the orange tea is an absolute must! Orange tea for sure! Also, the frozen yogurt is fantastic!

Good food. Huge burgers and crab cakes were moist and flavorful.

Nom… nom nom. Wasn’t sure what to expect but that strawberry cake is like eating the wings of a baby angel. The fish and chips, because its Friday in Texas, were pretty good. I work in the mall and it will be one place where I’m going to make myself very comfortable, very often.

Want to give this 5 stars simply because of Jose, the bartender. His attention to detail is impeccable; he’s always smiling and engaging. We are forever patrons, but go mostly to see Jose.

My favorite place to eat once I hit North Park Mall. I love the convenience of the located of the café, right inside my favorite store Neiman Marcus. My favorite soup is the turkey chili soup which comes with a jalapeño cornbread. Yummy! Talking about filled with flavor with melted cheese on top. Dipping a piece of jalapeño cornbread into the soup to fulfill your stomach. The salmon dish is always my favorite, which they change you from time to time on the way they prepare it. The salmon is cook to perfection laid on top a bed of veggie. I’m getting healthy & delicious, the best of both worlds. To top it off they have illy coffee, which is one of my all time favorite coffee. Don’t forget to ask about their yogurt… My favorite flavor is the mango & cream swirl. But of course they only carry 2 flavors at a time… It’s a must try café if you every hit that area!

This used to be one of my favorites but it has gone downhill, and fast! You used to be able to buy cakes here, but recently, you just get redirected to call the bakery instead of taking the time to take my order. I came to the Mermaid Bar to order a cake, not to get the phone number for the bakery! This is one example of how the service has declined. The manager seemed to be over flirtatious with my gf and was gawking at the other attractive ladies in the restaurant which made us uncomfortable during our meal. I had the Tortilla soup, egg salad sandwich, and some chips. The soup was runny and bland, but it can be delicious if made right. The egg salad sandwich was about the only good thing with my experience! I don’t recommend this place for anyone that has any other option!

Who is leaving these reviews??? Well actually, I did take a look around at the potential reviewers…:( This place is horrible!!! But, I guess I knew what I was getting into. I was at the mall! Spring mix wilts too fast, people who cAn’t serve it fresh needs to stop. My focaccia was stale! The salad sampler was overly mayonnaise smothered. I saw a girls cheesey pasta dish, but what it looked like was penne with grease. All is saw was the girl put the pasta in her mouth and it dripped grease. No cream, grease. On top of that, what was I thinking? Such a depressing setting. Obviously my stomach was going to destroy me if I didn’t eat right then and there.

The Mermaid Sampler is my fave on the menu. Tortilla soup is a must. Taco salad is amazing I think it’s on the Sunday special. Chocolate chip cookies are bomb dot com. Staff is normally friendly, but have had some unfriendly ones in the past.

Nothing tops the weekend off better than having lunch at The Mermaid Bar. Everytime I visit I get the roast turkey, bacon, swiss & avocado and a sparkling berry lemonade. Absolutely delicious! The staff is super friendly and there’s always an upbeat ambience here.

Great spot for lunch with friends while you’re running errands or shopping! Kind of a «ladies who lunch» vibe, but the staff is very friendly. Excellent chicken salad sandwiches, love all the cake slices, soups are generally good too! Small kids menu if you need that. Oh and great flavored ice tea! Reasonably priced for lunch, but comparatively, inexpensive for Neimans!

I used to be one of those skeptics– a restaurant inside of Neiman’s MUST be super stuffy and unfriendly. I am happy to say, I was wrong. This Mother’s Day was my first(my daughter is 4 months old). I do not have any family in Dallas and my husband had to be at work on that day, so I took myself out for Mother’s Day. Feeling a little insecure, as I seemed to be the only mama going solo, I wandered to one of my favorite restaurants in Dallas. To my dismay the hostesses at this restaurant ignored me. By this point I was almost in tears, having to spend my first Mother’s Day without my family and being unfriendly reminded that I was alone and therefore an oversight was a bummer to say the least. Feeling really sorry for myself, I decided to try one other option, The Mermaid Bar. Not only was the hostess delightful, but I was sat right away and my server was great! I had the calamari salad which had a light peanut dressing and was delicious. When it came time to receive my check, my server told me that the manager had already picked up my check in honor of my first Mother’s Day. WOW, now that is customer service! I was given a sweet rose(as were all Mother’s on that day) and told to have a great Mother’s Day. It was a simple gesture that really made my whole day better. I left there with a smile and will always remember the sweet kindness of a stranger on my otherwise dreary first celebration of being a new mommy. Thank you, Mermaid Bar for instilling great customer service in your team, I am now a loyal luncher! :)

We celebrated a work birthday lunch at the Mermaid Bar recently and had a great experience. For a large group, the food came out quickly and the service was very friendly and helpful. Everyone in our party of 12 enjoyed what they ordered too. I had the veggie panini and a cup of tortilla soup and was very pleased. The desserts looked amazing, but I was just too full to indulge. Next time!

I have been going to this place for YEARS(it looked completely different 15 years ago). I have always LOVED their delicious cakes(especially the yellow cake/choco frosting and the double dark chocolate). The food is pretty tasty as long as you avoid the fish dishes(they always smell/taste blah). It is a fun place to stop while in the mall or for a quick bite just about any time of the day. Great for a girl’s lunch too!

Had a great meal and it’s actually a fun experience. Seems like a place from another time. Definetly ladies who lunch but not stuffy — the place is very modern and cute. The service is great and the food is very delicious. Will return.

So I finally did it the true Dallas way and frequented The oh-so-chic and cosmopolitan, Mermaid Bar! I am no stranger to Neiman Marcus as my mother has been taking me there since I was a wee one to gaze at all the beautiful clothes, cosmetics, and highly coveted shoes that are pipe dream possessions, but fun to gaze at nonetheless. Neiman Marcus, for what it’s worth, is a Dallas cornerstone. Therefore, I will always revere it as such. Not to say, I aim to always shop there as the clientele and staff aren’t always the most welcoming, yet also to say it is a beautiful store with beautiful things. Pardon my digression… my point is simply that I seem to always overlook Mermaid Bar when I am inside the department store, because I am overwhelmed with sensory overload. Not today. Today I went strictly to nosh on delicious food whilst people watching as busy shoppers passed by. That delicious food was served abundantly in a generous serving of a Bistro Salad. After a quick and enthusiastic approval from our excellent server, I was sold. The feta cheese, candied pecans, dried cranberries mixed with juicy chunks of turkey over a bed of spinach was divine. Waiting for a table wasn’t as discouraging as it is at first glance. In fact, they were overly polite and we were seated within minutes. The service was attentive, fast, and friendly. I highly recommend their salads — they all are chock full of ingredients. And the best little tid-bit: each menu item is listed with the calorie amount!

My friend Mark and I make a regular habit of bar hopping at North Park Mall. Try it, it’s fun. The rule is that once you get tipsy you can only make one purchase. It’s a 5 seater bar in a café, but it’s a bit isolated from all the«getting mawled» action, and has a bit of that Neiman Marcus thang without feeling stuffy. Usually good for conversations with attentive service. Full bar. North Park Mall bar hop pocket guide: Mermaid Bar @ Neimans Bistro N @ Nordstroms Kona Maggiano’s La Duni Cibus The eye candy gets more intense the more you drink and navigation through the mall becomes more dream like. Remember only one purchase while intoxicated. Free Valet with ticket validation! Remember — drink responsibly.

I jumped on the bandwagon after my mom came home and said, «Tiffany, grab your purse. We’re going shopping and having lunch at the Mermaid Bar. It’s delish!» My mom liking a café in a department store? Did hell freeze over? After the Nordstrom debacle of ’08, I’ve been nervous about those types of cafes because they’re generally overpriced and just MEH. This place is quite busy and happening at 2pm on a Saturday afternoon. I had to try the classics like the tortilla soup, chicken salad sandwich, plantation punch, and just to mix things up I also ordered the Fajita Plate. The soup is actually that awesome but the chicken salad sandwich fell a little short. For me, it wad a little dry. The wheat bread was a little dried out. The plantation punch was $ 5 a glass and thank goodness it came with refills because we would have never known what it actually tasted like because our server brought us plain pineapple-orange juice the first time around. The punch had a nice spicy taste to it similar to a chai tea. I really enjoyed it and asked for a to-go cup. They brought me a fresh cup of punch right before I left. I ended up drinking 4 glasses of punch not including my new to-go cup. I think I got my $ 5 worth, lmao The fajita plate is pretty awesome. I really enjoyed it. The spicy ranch sauce that came with it was really addicting. I dipped everything into it. Check this place out and get some soup. :)

To me, this is old school, ladies-who-shop-and-lunch Dallas, and I loved experiencing it. Been enjoying the famous NM chicken salad for years in other cities, now was my chance to come to get it in the Homeland! If you have never tried the NM chicken salad, please excuse yourself & immediately get on it. I know, you’re thinking: «Whatever, how good could it be? Chicken-boring-salad. Besides, I don’t really even like mayo.» I get where you’re coming from. I’m here to tell you don’t knock it till you try it. Dined solo so sat at counter, which felt like a 60s-style coffee shop bar. Waitress was awesome, prob worked there since opening day which I loved. Sammy was huge, so only ate half. Waitress was so intuitive, had the take-home bag in hand before I even asked. So retro, borderline kitch-stereotypical, so wonderful.

So, I’ve been perched at 99 reviews for quite a while now, paralyzed at the thought of doing anything less than a stellar 100th review. Then I happened to wander into The Mermaid Bar the other day, and inspiration struck — especially when I realized that no one else has Unilocaled it yet.(I’m not counting the misplaced reviews under Neiman Marcus itself.) A 100th review AND a first? Ohboyohboyohboy! I must admit that I’m amazed this Neiman’s classic hasn’t been properly listed on Unilocal yet. It’s been around since 1965, and it’s a Dallas icon. In fact, this past February, The Dallas Morning News listed it as one of the«timeless classics» of Dallas. The Mermaid Bar is a great place to catch up with a friend before or after a shopping outing at Northpark. It’s also a great place to treat yourself to a late lunch after taking a stroll around the mall by yourself. But be prepared to wait if you come at the peak of the lunch hour! Everything on the menu looks so good — and surprisingly affordable! — that I always have a hard time deciding. Their tortilla soup is legendary, and their sandwiches are always a solid choice. I most recently stopped in for a quick mid-afternoon shopping break and ventured for the frozen yogurt, which is curiously listed under«starters.» It was served in a tall cup layered with all kinds of fruit. This is your traditional-style frozen yogurt, none of that trendy tartness, but I kinda liked that. It was simple and honest and ooooh so good. I was momentarily shocked at how large it was, but women at other tables were looking at it enviously as I devoured the entire thing. Oops. You hardly see any men here; the ladies of Dallas have claimed this as our little oasis. And as such, you’ll never feel like you’re being judged if you sit down to lunch by yourself. There’s a sort of camaraderie among the women you see in here; they’ll compliment your shoes as you sit down at a table nearby, and they’ll ask you what you’re eating so that they can order the exact same thing.(I saw both happen the last time I was here!) The nice thing about this«club» atmosphere, though, is that it’s not exclusive. Anyone who sits down at a table here is immediately a member. Because honey, wherever you are in life, we’ve all been there. Parting Note: Apparently, Visa is NOT everywhere you want to be. They only take the Neiman’s card(umm right), American Express, or cash. My one complaint.
