History

Established in 1966.

Davis and Elizabeth Thompson founded the company in 1965 in their home brokering sheet metal. Mr. «T» sold galvanized steel, bonderized steel and copper flat sheets to local fabricators and HVAC companies. When he retired in 1992 he sold the company to a long time family friend, John Mathis. John had left his legal practice to find more meaningful work in Dallas with his wife Shelly. He found his passion at Thomson Metal Supply and began expanding the business. In 1999 he purchased Ferdinand Deickman, a conductor pipe elbow manufacturing plant in Ohio, and brought all the equipment to Dallas. Within a year the plant was up and distributing elbows nationally. In 2001 John’s daughter Elizabeth took over the family business. She further expanded the company by incorporating gutter and downspout machines and a 20′ metal brake. The company manufactures for the roofing and guttering industry for commercial and residential properties. «Every body needs a piece of metal.»

Our company is a family owned manufacturing company. Davis Thompson started brokering sales of sheet metal out of his garage in 1965 and then acquired the building where we are currently located in 1968. He sold steel, paintgrip and copper to local sheet metal fabricators and HVAC companies. When he retired in 1992, he sold the business to long time friend John Mathis. John expanded the company by adding an elbow manufacturing division to the company. His daughter Elizabeth took over the company in 2001 and began purchasing gutter and downspout manufacturing equipment. We manufacture gutters and downspouts for commercial and residential properties, roofing flashings and accessories: chimney caps, louvers, vents, dormers, conductor heads, foundation vent covers, and finials. We also supply stainless steel, painted steel and aluminum, aluminum mill finish and diamond plate. Our motto is «everybody needs a piece of metal.»
