Tom Battles Custom Picture Framing

The 5 star reviews don’t lie. This guy is really good and his prices are fair.
He will probably be pissed at me for saying this because, let’s face it, the guy is getting more business than he can handle and for good reason.
Should he hike up his prices? Yes. Do I want him to? No.
I brought him an autographed Tool concert poster from two years ago in Austin and he did the most professional, and impeccable job framing that from the matte, to the frame itself. Every piece and part is so cohesive and well thought out, it is now a complete work of art.

Tom does extremely high quality work for a reasonable price. It was so fun taking our prints and diplomas to him; he just started pulling all these different combinations of frames and mats and didn’t stop until each piece looked perfect. Tom is very laid back and obviously knows what he is doing.
He is very knowledgeable about every type of wood and finish he offers, and he can frame just about anything. I used him for prints, but he had some other pieces that had books or other items that require skill to frame properly.
We were very impressed with the final product and will definitely be back for all our future framing needs. His custom frames put my store-​bought ones to shame. He even included rubber feet on the bottom and used thick, high-​quality copper wire (coated in plastic for comfort).

Tom is a consummate professional. He knows his business and has great ideas. He will your listen to any input and then give you feedback on his thoughts. We had several different items that needed to be framed and he gave us ample time to discuss each project. We also needed a fairly fast turn around and he completed all the work on schedule. Tom even came in on his day off for us to pick up the work. Being new to Dallas, I am not sure about other frame shops, but now we’ll never know because we’d NEVER go anywhere else.
We have done enough of this to know that if you want it done right, on time, and with a very fair price Tom Battles is your guy.

When looking for a custom framing shop for a custom print we had purchased we found Tom Battles Custom Picture Framing. Tom is amazing. His work is precise, timely, and well executed. We’ve had three different pieces framed now; one very large, one medium, and one rather small piece. Tom took time to listen to what we were looking for and to make suggestions that would highlight the piece and match well with our décor. We will definitely be back whenever we have new pieces to frame. Tom has been great and we highly recommend him and his shop.

Tom has framed almost 20 pieces for me over the years. Almost every time I let him pick out the matting and frame materials on his own sight unseen by me until I pick it up. I’m always pleased and amazed at his taste and clever way he sets and compliments each picture.

Tom is an amazing framer. He framed a Dalhart Windberg print in the most beautiful setting for me. He has also framed a professional, autographed jersey and a set of three autographed comic books. Each item was lovingly treated and his suggestions were perfect. I can’t recommend him enough. Please support small, local businesses like Tom Battles. The customer service and care is so much better than the big chain places, and the prices were lower than expected.

Tom did a great job on a gift for my mother. The framing was perfect and done early. I will definitely be back and would highly recommend his work.

Absolutely beautiful work. I took interior design courses in college, and I immediately recognized the work of a master when we received our items back completed. Getting those mattes cut perfectly is not easy, and he really knows how to show off your pieces.
I enjoyed the act of designing the matte and framing, matching colors. He offers as much suggestion as you need, but will never override your choices. He truly let us make our own decision, guided by his years of expertise.
His prices are very reasonable for the work and quality.

Tom is excellent. I went to get a couple antique maps framed as well as my college and MBA diplomas. He took the time to give us lots of options, offering suggestions, but making sure the decision was in our hands. Everything came out beautifully. Price seemed spot on. Will definitely return.

Tom Battles came recommended to me by professional photographers, and he did fantastic work.
I had a large silkscreen 50’s Soviet era map. We discussed the project. I had an idea to frame it in metal to give it a cold, industrial look. He found the perfect material and the result is absolutely stunning — its my favourite wall-​hanging.

Tom is amazing. A few months ago, at 9 month pregnant, I waddled into his shop with a dirty old family painting to have framed for my toddler’s room. I had planned to have it put behind glass, but after discussing it with him, decided to just get a simple frame on it and have it cleaned and framed more formally once we get it away from the kids. It was so nice to work with someone who push for the most expensive option. Quite the opposite. He did a beautiful job of framing the painting, charged me a fraction of what I was expecting, kept it simple, which was exactly what I wanted, and finished it crazy fast so I could get it home before baby #2 arrived. Tom makes me want to have everything in my home framed. I’ll be back in his shop asap!

Tom’s work is awesome. He approaches framing art much like an artist would approach the art itself. Whether you have a black and white photograph or an old family heirloom that you want framed, he can suggest great ideas about framing options that would preserve and display your piece of art in the best manner possible. And, of course, the quality of work is impeccable.

Mr. Battles lives up to the quality of his reviews. He’s easy to communicate with, and seems able to effortlessly blend your thoughts regarding what you want with what suits the piece being framed. I’ve had several pictures framed, including some art obtained while traveling in other countries, and have been impressed with Mr. Battles’ ability to put together frame and mat options which enhance the artwork being framed, without losing the original feel of the piece. His creativity and quality workmanship is combined with good pricing. Quality framing isn’t inexpensive, but I always feel I received a good value for the price I paid in this shop. This is a rare shop I can recommend without qualification.

I was impressed with Tom Battles after having just dropped off 3 things to be framed. I walked away 100% positive that I would be pleased with the results. Yesterday I picked up my photos and I’m absolutely thrilled with the results. I keep coming up with reasons that I have to walk past them to sneak another peak.
Tom is a true artist. Immediately upon showing him what you want framed he will start throwing ideas and suggestions at you. If you want simple and classic, he’ll go that way. If you want to get a bit crazy, he’ll give you those options too.
The mark of a skilled framer is that they don’t bog you down with questions about how wide you want the matting, etc. They have the experience to know exactly what dimensions you need to best highlight your piece. This was completely true with Tom and it’s something that you’ll miss if you take something to be framed at a large chain store (I’m looking at you, Michaels.) Of course, if you have strong opinions, he’ll incorporate them, but he takes the hard part off the customer, which I greatly appreciate.
In the past I thought I had to choose between reasonable prices from Michaels and a solid, professional framing experience. Then I discovered Tom Battles and there is no longer a need to make a choice. His prices are in line with what you’d pay at Michaels or with a coupon at another store. The fact that you get these prices and some of the best framing I’ve ever seen (and I’ve been to quite a few places in several cities for my various pieces), boggles my mind. I’d set a budget before going to him for my 3 pieces, based on what I would have spent at a chain store or with a coupon elsewhere. Without telling him my budget he hit the nail on the head with his estimate… then beat it by $ 70 when I came to pick them up!
He also takes good care of your items. One of my pieces was for him to create a shadowbox of some sand dollars that have a great deal of meaning and sentimental value and could never be replaced. He took great care of them and turned them into a fantastic show piece.

Prior reviews and recommendations from Unilocal were spot on with the expertise and quality from Tom. He framed an original piece of art and highly recommend using Tom’s services.

This is my first time visiting this shop to get a print framed that I got for our anniversary. I have to say, I am very impressed from the moment I opened the door to his shop. Tom’s shop is small and is located in the Bishop’s Arts District so if you live far away like I do, don’t worry because you can always stop by a nearby restaurant to get a bite before you leave.
Don’t hesitate to ask Tom for his opinion because they are creative. In addition to that, the prices he quoted us was very reasonable. I hate to say it but I used to go to Hobby Lobby to get prints and paintings and pictures framed because I was cheap. NOT ANYMORE.
It is worth letting Tom do the framing for you for at least three reason: 1) Price: reasonable to cheap depending on your needs 2) Creative ideas: Tom’s input is valuable to the decision making 3) Location: great place to get some work done, and then drop by the many restaurants for a quick bite… or drink!
