Tomorrow Come Today at The Undermain Theatre

My first Unilocal elite event! T The theatre set up was great! I loved the small and private feel of the theatre. The ability to see the play from so many vantage points allows you to really immerse in the play. I really enjoyed how nice and organized the staff was at this event. My only issue with this theatre was that it was a little to find.

This was my first time at The Undermain Theatre and I really enjoyed the experience. The venue was cozy, but had great lighting, sound, and you could clearly see all the whole play. The location was convenient, parking was easy, and they provide light refreshments and snacks at a very reasonable price. The play itself was outstanding and I would highly recommend people see it!

what an awesome theatre tucked in Deep Ellum! i don’t get a chance to make it to downtown often, so it was nice to have a Unilocal event to give me an excuse to drive the distance. I am looking forward in seeing other plays at this theatre because the theatre itself is very nice, the staff is friendly and awesome, and the actors were just amazing! There were a few actors that I could see on TV or in a movie. A play can be killed by terrible acting, but I saw none of that during this play. We got two drink tickets, and I loved that they offered hot tea and other non alcoholic beverages. I enjoyed my minty green tea very much, sweetened with a drop of Stevia extract. Yum! Thank you for such a wonderful event!

Loved the event, and I loved the theatre. Not a big fan of the play (ask me why offline if you want to know), but I am not here to review the play itself. The venue itself is super cool. Instead of having a fake retro theatre house vibe to it, Undermain is the real deal. They were super gracious in offering us a couple of high quality beverages. The lobby got a little claustrophobic during intermission but surely that was due to a good part of the crowd having drink vouchers. I would come back for sure to see something else.

I had never been to any theatre to see a play to be honest, and this was a great first experience! The Undermain Threatre is located in a really interesting (yet obvious, in retrospect) place, and the environment fits it well. The venue itself is pretty well designed around the building, and although the columns block a bit of the view, the characters more around enough and project well so it’s not an issue at all. During the intermission, the outside area did get a bit crowded, but nothing bad, and certainly nothing like a bar/​nightclub on a weekend night.
The play itself I actually really liked, as well as the interesting way it chose to touch on several issues we have now today. Maybe I’m reading too much into it. Either way, I enjoyed it quite a bit, despite the initial difficulty of keeping track of the characters due to the nature of the plot having them «transfer».

This is an awesome theatre. I’m a huge fan of small theatre and I’m glad I have a new location for some plays. Parking in Deep Ellum can be a nightmare but there is free parking just across the street which is an added bonus. I really like the vibe the staff was super courteous and I was surprised by the array of libations they offered to their patron. Heli was right there’s not a bad seat in the place. I really liked the intimate feeling.
I really enjoyed the play and it was great seeing fellow Unilocalers, Stephanie, Hashem, Neha and Kristie. Another great event Heli and team besides we could always use a little culture in our lives.

I had a great time at the Undermain Theatre. It was a much cleaner place than I thought it’d be for being in Deep Ellum. I loved the free parking lot across the street.
We were given two free drink tickets. I got wine both times, and the ladies poured VERY generously. woohoo!
The program said the play was 2.5 hours long, and we were wondering if we’d be able to make it through the whole thing. But after the second act, I had to see how it ended! I enjoyed the play, and it was well acted. You could tell they really took pride in what they do. No hiccups that I noticed. And we even got full frontal! Well. a side view from where I was sitting.

Growing up I often went to the theatre for productions, such as at Casa Mañana or CATS in Arlington. As an adult my theatre patronage has dipped considerably but I still love to catch a good show at the theatre. Small, intimate theaters make for a great viewing experience in my opinion. Well, this event at the Undermain did not disappoint. First off, the name Undermain is so clever and I love it. The location was great and parking was easy to find in the lot across the street. Everyone at the theatre was very accommodating and extremely friendly. I’m definitely looking forward to watching another production at the Undermain.

This week the Unilocal elite event was a trip to the theatre to see «Tomorrow come again», a futuristic play.
The location was a small non profit production team at Undermain Theatre which I am ashamed to admit I have never been to.
As you might guess from the name the theatre was under Main street in deep Ellum. The theatre has a cool basement feel to it (well it is in the basement) with low ceilings and exposed pipes.
I loved how the industrial feel matched the Sci fi feel of this play.
On entering we got 2 drink tickets each to use in the intermission which was very generous… just like the pours ;)
This is a small production company so the fact that they allowed us all to preview this play and provided us drinks was wonderful.
The acting was phenomenal and I loved the intimate setting. Everyone was very friendly and I am so glad I discovered this theatre as I will certainty be returning.
Soon in fact as their next production involved Russian fairy tales sounds wonderful.

Loved the play, I now want to check out everything written by the author! Also, the theater itself was really cool, I’m excited to come back and check out other shows they put on.

This was my first time going to a show at Undermain Theater, so I was a bit confused about where to go to get in. You enter through the main building doors on Main Street and then can either take the stairs or the elevator down a level to the theater. The layout leaves a little to be desired if you don’t get there super early to nab a front row seat. Most of the time spent on stage for most of the cast in this play is in a reclined or sitting position, so if anyone with large hair or just a tall person is seated in any of the rows in front of you, you’re likely to have no visual on what’s happening on stage. For that reason, I spent most of the play wondering what the actors were doing. There are also columns around the stage that limit visibility from some of the seats.
The space itself is really cool, and the play was interesting — had never seen anything like it before. I’m not a huge sci fi person but I thought it was great. Wish I had been able to see the play instead of only hear it. It was LONG — 2 hours and 33 minutes — but that seemed to include the two intermissions, so it flew past. Overall I would definitely recommend Undermain as a great night out with the parents or relatives that won’t break the bank and will kill a few hours. They have beer, wine and soda, as well as some cookies they bring in from Kroger all for under or around $ 5. You can take your drink into the theater as well.

My hubby and I have never been to a theater performance together, so we were excited for something new. The performance was excellent and thoughtful. It was one of those shows that really makes you think.
I loved the venue. Finding free parking in this area is rare. We were pleasantly pleased to have easy and free parking. The Undermain is located in the basement of a loft complex. It was a great venue and an extremely intimate setting.
We enjoyed sipping on some wine and losing ourselves in the story. Great night, great event!

I had a good time at this event even though the play was a little confusing for me. It was also hard to see the actors since they were sitting or laying down most of the time. If I ever come here again I’ll make sure to be early to get front row.
The place is pretty organized and once we checked in with Unilocal we filled out an email list subscription card for two free drink coupons that we were able to use at both intermissions. Nice pour on the wine I must say.
I’m glad to be on the email list because I honestly forgot this place existed so hopefully will see another play that I want to attend.

It’s either a science, art, or both that Heli has mastered as our super Dallas Unilocal ambassador when putting together the Elite events. Tonight’s Elite event at the Undermain Theatre for the performance of the original work, «Tomorrow Come Today», is proof positive of those attributes. Brava Heli, well done.
I love the theatre. Even more, I love theatre troupes that take audiences dangerously (and sometimes uncomfortably) close to the edge of accepted traditional staged productions. For me, it’s a breath of fresh air. Tonight’s performance and the Undermain theatre present their work exactly in this way with complete confidence.
This is the first Science Fiction play I’ve seen. I sat there thinking how risky the genre was, but Undermain pulled it off. It was fresh to see something new, and risky. I am a big fan of open theatre. The lighting and sound were well staged and complemented the performances. The actors were very good, at times making me lose myself in the story removing the obvious artifice of the stage. A few of the actors are obvious standouts: Montgomery Sutton, Shannon Kearns, Jenny Ledel, Gregory Lush as the realtor, and last but not least Vanessa DeSilvio. They really have acting chops. Bravo/​Brava all around.
And finally, there is 2° of separation between the theatre, my wife Zera, and I. We read the theatre’s history, specifically the part about going to Skopje, Macedonia to perform the work Sarajevo in commemoration of the UN’s 50^th anniversary. Zera my wife, was born in Skopje. Her mother, like my parents are from Bosnia-​Hercegovina, whose capital city is Sarajevo. A city we love and a place that defines much of who we are. Needless to say, we look forward to many more visits to the fresh, relevant, and vital theatre that the Undermain is.

Only a third of the way and already really digging this event. Acting is amazing venue is awesome. Can’t wait to review it. More to come but heli, good job!

Just got back from this event and I have to say, wow! Fantastically different event for the Dallas Unilocal Scene, and I am so glad that Heli put this together!
The play, «Tomorrow Come Again,» was a futuristic dystopian society commentary, staged in a varied «theatre in the round» style. Even though you couldn’t see everyone on the stage at the same time, they each were mic’d and you could hear the dialogue clearly and succinctly!
The Undermain Theatre was extremely accommodating, even when I was THAT person and totally broke their wine glass with my foot in the audience stand — they waved my apologies aside graciously! They also provided all the Unilocalers with 2 drink tickets each which is WAY generous for a nonprofit theatre like this. I was tempted just to donate to pay for our obvious splurge of an evening, but I think I’ll just patronize them in the future more instead :)
Great event Heli, made even better by seeing fellow Unilocalers Yolanda, Tiffany, and Hussein tonight!
