Went to West End Pub for a Geeks Who Drink — Arrested Development trivia night. That part was super great.
It’s a nice, big area with plenty of room for a busy trivia night.
Medium Ok’s: Not enough waitstaff. Things were kinda tossed onto our table haphazardly. We yelled out our orders as the server ran by our table. That was interesting. The «gluten free» items were just items that didn’t have bread in them. Like the veggie & cheese plate I got with regular cheese and veggies. Not anything to complain about but it states that «gluten free and light items» will cost extra. So veggies and cheese cost more than sausage and cheese plates? I find that kinda meh.

Wow. We went here last night to play trivia. Our waitress was awful. We had to wait forever to get a beer and to top it off, she wasn’t even polite. I understand that she was busy, but it’s really uncalled for. The food was not great, the bread and fries tasted stale. How do you mess up fries?
I am only giving this place an extra star because the manager was really nice to my vegetarian friend. My friends had been there before and said that it’s usually not that bad. We are definitely going to do trivia somewhere else next time though.

I went here for a groupon deal with my GF. I ordered a cheese burger with fries. The food was cold, the fries were hard, and there were bits of a Brillo Pad (seriously?!?) in the meat… Needless to say, if I had a choice between returning to West End Pub, or eating my boots… How bad could they be?

Is it weird to have three review updates? Is that a normal thing? WHATEVER I DO WHAT I WANT.
Anyway, West End Pub has gone up to five stars because I’ve grown more partial to this quirky and quaint (two q-​words in one sentence? That’s something) dive bar in West End. Trivia with Geeks Who Drink is my one-​guaranteed study break per week as I’m prepping up for my big test.
What is there to try? I will emphasize how great the Pub Extreme Fries are. It’s a baked potato in fry form with ranch dressing (which is completely unnecessary, and I love ranch dressing). And it’s 50% off with a Unilocal-​check in. Please do this for me. It’ll make me feel like I actually did something useful with my life.
The fact that they have Angry Orchard is great, but some of their specialty drinks, like the Pub Slide (their mudslide) is also delicious and comes in a good-​sized Mason jar. I’m not talking about your Pinterest-​sized jars that Zooey-​Deschanel wannabes drink out of. This is worth two, maybe three drinks if you stretch it.
Come to West End Pub Wednesday nights. Trivia starts at 8. I look forward to beating your pants off.

We went to the West End Pub before a concert after reading about the Happy Hour buffet. The spread wasn’t anything special, but you can’t complain about free food, so we decided to order off the menu. My dining companion had the sausage plate which was okay, but my cheeseburger was disgusting. The meat was grey and had this horrible artificial beef flavor.
The worst part of the experience came when the bill arrived. There is a big sign on the wall saying that domestics are $ 3.25 during Happy Hour. The front page of the drink menu has a list of Texan and American beers. Apparently these are not «domestic,» even though the waitress pointed at this page when explaining the Happy Hour drink specials. So the beers we were expecting to cost $ 3.25 were $ 5.25−5.50. It was only then that we saw that the sign on the wall said, in much smaller print, that craft beers $ 4.50−5.50. We begrudgingly paid, but honestly feel very cheated by the whole ordeal. Will not be back.

I agree this place isn’t for everyone. Because if you are an over-​entitled yuppy who expects people to read your mind the first time around then yeah, go to a 5 star restaraunt.
This place is great if you follow two simple rules, 1. Ask and you shall receive, and 2. Don’t be a jerk off and you will get phenomenal service and a great experience overall.
The manager, (I only met Jeff), servers, bartenders (Hi Trenton) and all staff there are chill people, and so are most of the guests. I went in and made tons of friends the first night. It was my first time in dallas and the bartender introduced me to everyone at the bar. Great time, and the reuban was awesome after 60 cocktails.

I went here with a couple friends to grab some drinks before a Dallas Stars game. The waitress was pretty rude… she seemed kind of busy but there weren’t that many people there at the time. The atmosphere is decent but when we were there the place smelled like something was just burnt in the frier. I may try this place one more time… but it was a pretty bad first experience.

So I went back to the West End Pub to give them another chance. I will raise this up one star. The food was good and the service improved. I went back during a week night and they were definitely not as busy. We ordered the Pub Pie and the Pub Stack. Both were pretty good… I think there was a little too much mustard on the Pub Stack though. I’d definitely head back to this bar and use their shuttle to the Mavs game.

Finally, someone is doing a quality open mic night in downtown Dallas. I’ve been playing and hosting open mic nights for over twenty years and I like the way that the Pub’s new open mic night on Thursdays is run. It is a great room to play and a good opportunity for players to get up and showcase their talents to a warm and welcoming audience.
In addition, while you’re waiting to play, they have a great selection of just about anything you want to drink. I prefer beer and they’ve got a great beer list. I think they’ve got fifteen or sixteen taps to choose from. One of the best craft beer selections I’ve ever seen. Not to mention a chicken salad sandwich that was outstanding.
I had such a good time last Thursday that I will probably become a Thursday regular and bring more friends with me.

I went here because I heard good things from a friend and I had a Groupon. I ordered the soup and sandwich with a gluten-​free roll and my boyfriend ordered the cheeseburger and fries. The food was horrible! The soup was cold an salty and my gluten-​free bun was hard as a rock. On top of that I found a piece of plastic wrap in the turkey meat. I decided not to make a big fuss due to the Groupon.
When I got the check I was shocked to see that the gluten-​free bun was extra. I had seen this at other establishments but at West End Pub it wasn’t marked on the menu like some of the other add-​ons. It just said «Choice of: [insert bread list]» with no additional charge noted. Needless to say I was furious. The money wasn’t the issue here. I felt cheated in way to many ways by this place. I will not return, ever.
The good thing was that our waitress was fantastic and kind. I wish I remembered her name so that I could give her direct credit. I also wish that I had never bought that Groupon.

Wait staff was super friendly! Pub pie was great. Savory and a little spicy. The complimentary food bar during happy hour was awesome!

Didn’t stay long. Shared an appetizer with my wife that was OK. It was half price for checking in on Unilocal.Wife got a build your own bloody mary. I don’t really understand this concept, why go to a bar to make your own drinks?
Seems like a pretty good place to relax and watch a game, the couches looked pretty comfy.

Stumbled upon this place by accident, actually. We were just looking for a restroom but ended up staying to eat and my boyfriend and his best friend had a couple drinks. We enjoyed the laid-​back atmosphere very much. A nice change from Dallas’ ultra modern clubby scene.
The food’s good. I don’t drink so I can’t really give any opinions on that! Service is very casual and the waitresses are friendly but not that fake friendly you’re usually used to getting around here. Overall, a good place to visit.
I will definitely be going back!

The word pub is the perfect label for this place but not a Brit themed pub but the more authentic yet less scene American variety. This isn’t nearly dank enough to be a dive, not quite sporty enough to be a sports bar and not upscale enough to be a gastropub. The WEP is comfortable and casual with a living room like section of recliners and coaches, bat stools and a few tables. The place is smaller than it looks from the outside. While I admire the bar craft of places like The Park Tavern I also like the more old fashioned less corperate places like this. This is a middle-​of-​the-​road place but it works. I have not tried the food so I need to update after I do.
This is a good enough type of joint but I am willing to give it 4 stars and not 3 because the people are friendly, the place looks nice and because I am inclined to like places in downtown.

Biggest waste of $ 9! Food sucked, waitress had no idea what’s going on. I’m not from Dallas & next time I’m back in town this is one stop I won’t be making.
I’m no «Elite 12» but was very dissapointed by my experience at West End.

I can’t say much for West End Pub in the way of its character as a watering hole – I am not one for getting sloshed in the middle of the day in the West End. There was, however, a group of probably early Weekendies (Thursday afternoon) getting an early start.
As for the food, you probably can’t get much more bang for your buck than you would here. They have $ 5 lunch specials, a happy hour buffet, and heck… who doesn’t love a huge, loaded baked potato for a mere $ 4.25? Additionally, they just have a hodgepodge of good ol’ munchies.
I will say that if you are looking for elevated pub grub or something along the lines of a foie gras stuffed, truffle Wagyu burger with a side of purple sweet potato fries dressed with a maple butter boasting pure Vermont maple mixed into Amish New York butter… you won’t find it here. Burgers, sandwiches, potatoes. That is what they do at WEP, and you dang well better order the aforementioned objects here.
The housemade potato salad was actually quite superb. It was laced with whole herbs, some rye seeds (?), a sprinkling of fennel (?)… I give up. I have no idea what was in this creamy, mushy slop. But it was dang good. In the same vein, the EXTREME pub fries were fantastic. A mix of bacon, chili, jalapenos, and fresh cheese adorned some rather soggy fries. Not my favorite style, but definitely acceptable. You can’t go wrong with chili cheese fries… but another undesirable texture: dry beef meat was what they called chili.
All in all, I would say that West End Pub is a step above the typical burgers and fries that you find at your neighborhood bar, but don’t expect anything more than good, honest fat-​laden grub.

Free wi-​fi, free bus to the games, free buffet, metered parking if you get here in time and friendly staff. That’s about all I need. I’m glad something like this still exists in the West End.

My friend that works at House of Blues is who told me about West End Pub. I never would have known this bar existed, and I’ve even driven past the pub many a time. I guess I never paid attention, but the West End is (for the most part) dead to me. I was still skeptical about trying West End Pub out, mostly because of the name and my feelings of the West End (see previous statement).
The first time I walked into WEP I was impressed. Free buffet during happy hour… just chips, queso, maybe some fruit and cheese, and some buffalo wings. But free is free! They have a decent selection of beers on tap with a full bar, and plenty of drink specials. I love sitting by the windows to watch the many people roaming the downtown area. There are also several couches in the middle of the room that are comfy if you can snag one.
I’ve eaten here once, and had the ham and cheese sandwich. It’s a pretty damn good sandwich. Not high end or anything, but better than what I would make at home.
They also recently opened up a patio to accommodate the smokers. It’s pretty much a makeshift patio, and I saw the bartender crawling through a window to get out to the patrons, but hey it’s a patio!
The best part of WEP is that it’s $ 5 to park in the lot next to the building, and they have a bus that will take you to and from almost any event to the American Airlines Center. I’m talking front door drop off. The last couple of times I’ve been to AAC this is where we park, and have pre-​drinks. Kickass!

I thought West End Pub was good but the group of Dallas Unilocalers I was with helped push this establishment to the 4^th star. I ended up here with a bunch of Unilocalers after a sushi UYE!
Walking up to West End Pub with the floor to ceiling windows makes this place look big from the outside, but once inside you realise just how cozy this bar really is. It is an open space with tables a bar on the back wall and of course some leather couches sitting around a coffee table. Great lounging area to take in a few pints. The server was on her A game the entire evening.
I really liked how laid back this pub was. If I am ever in downtown Dallas again I can see myself looking for this bar, thinking «ok maybe it was around this corner».
