When I was eight years old, I decided that I was going to become a veterinarian. That was a decision I have never to this day regretted. I enjoy being a veterinarian as much now as when I graduated from the University of Florida Veterinary School in 1982. I grew up in the Washington, DC area and attended the University of Maryland. Our family has lived in Damascus since 1985. Through my three children, I have been involved in local youth sports, 4-H, and community fairs. Besides spending time with my family and my dog, I love sports and gardening. Woodfield Veterinary Clinic allows me to do what I love, practice veterinary medicine and help people.

Dr Skipton is a great vet. It was today, Labor day and my dog was very sick suddenly. She was older and I knew she was terminal. I called Dr Skiptons answering service as his office was closed all labor day weekend. He called back and agreed to come in at 8pm to open his office to put my very sick dog down. I did not want to let her suffer even one more night and I am grateful for this kindness from Dr Skipton.

Dr. Skipton and his staff were wonderful! Our cat was treated for a clogged anal gland that turned into an abscess. When it was time to pick up our cat after surgery, Woodfield Rd was close due to a down telephone pole. One of the vet techs actually brought our cat to our neighborhood because we couldn’t get to the clinic! The staff was always so thorough with their explanations on what was going on with our kitty and how to nurse her back to health. I felt that the price of the treatment was reasonable as well. I absolutely recommend this Vet! :)

This is a great family run clinic. Dr. Skipton has over 30 years of experience and is always polite and courteous. We take both our dogs their for over 7 years and have never had any issues. Even in emergencies and late night calls. The clinic was always there for us. Jack and Jill love them!!!

I just moved to the area and am very happy with my first experience w/Woodfield and Dr. Skipton. Both he and the nurse were quite thorough looking over my two longhair cats, and were knowledgeable about their breeds and the common health problems they were susceptible to. After doing blood work on one of my cats I was pleasantly surprised to hear back from Dr. Skipton personally the next day with the results. Compared to Banfield, their previous vet, I felt the whole Woodfield staff were interested in and cared about my pets. And the online portal is a very convenient way to keep up with my pets’ health information. What more could you ask for?

We have been taking our animals (cat and dog) to Woodfield Vet for over 11 years and have always been extremely pleased with the knowledge and quality care our animals get from the veterinarians. They are a small practice which allows them to spend time with you answering questions, giving advice and throughly examining our pets and providing options for care. We really appreciate the personalized experience we get each and every time. The rates are very reasonable and usually less than the average vet fees in this area. Five years ago our dog got very ill and spent about 2 weeks at the vet in their care while they nursed her back to health. The final bill was not cheap but WAY LESS than what we have paid at other vet’s for far less treatment. The doctors worked with us to provide her the best care but did not recommend expensive or excessive treatments that were not needed.

We have been taking our pets here since moving to Damascus and have always received excellent service. When one of our dogs seriously injured himself, they went out of their way to nurse him back to health and did not overcharge us (in general, fees have been less than we have paid at prior vets). Our doggie is doing well and we are extremely grateful to Woodfield Vet Clinic.

For times like these, I wish Unilocal offered a zero star option. Instead of taking responsibility for making a serious error that most likely lead to a worsening condition for one of our cats, the vets at this clinic chose to try to bully me into submission in the hopes of deflecting attention away from their own incompetence. If you like being treated in a callous manner dripping with disdain, then, by all means darken the doorstep of this atrocious clinic. For the rest of us, thank goodness these jokers aren’t the only game in town.

I have been taking my dog to Woodfield Veterinary Clinic since she was 7 years old, and she’s now 18… which is a testament to the wonderful care she’s received there. About 95% of my experience is with Dr. Skipton (the owner) and I’ve appreciated his honesty and compassion through every situation. My dog has had quite a few injuries and illnesses over the years and Dr. Skipton has always taken the conservative approach rather than trying to convince me to spend more money on useless tests or procedures. He’s always been available simply for consultations and advice and even lending a compassionate ear when I thought the worst was going to happen. He has many years of experience and I completely trust his advice and guidance. The staff is equally as wonderful.
If you live in the area, or even if you don’t (I live in DC and still take my pup there), and want the best care for your pet, I would highly recommend Woodfield Veterinary Clinic.
