This doctor is not for me. I’m sure he’s helped some people but before I was even able to meet him or his staff, I was pretty much snubbed so here is a review of his office staff so far…
I called Dr. Granese’s office almost 2 weeks ago to discuss what insurance plans he accepted. I was recommended to him by my postpartum depression counselor and she assured me he would be able to provide proper care to me. Of course, I trusted her judgement as she is a professional.
I called immediately after my last session. The woman who answered told me the doctor would call me back to talk to me about it. Why she couldn’t tell me this? I don’t know! A little over a week passed and no call. Called back and the same woman just said,
«Well, he doesn’t work Thursday’s and he’ll be making call backs tomorrow and Saturday.»
Weird…
‘Okay, but it’s been over a week’ I said. She assured me that he’d call Friday or Saturday.
Well, it’s Sunday and no call!
What kind of «professional» doesn’t call a person in need of help back? One that clearly doesn’t care about his patients well being. And apparently he takes weeks to call back?
So, thanks for saving me time and money by showing me what kind of ‘care’ you and your staff provide. This office clearly isn’t organized to transfer messages and I’m NOT going to put my trust into a doctor who can’t even call someone back… This could have been EXTREMELY devastating if it were a person who was severely unstable and needed to be seen soon. I needed to be seen but not urgently (although that doesn’t mean my call isn’t important). Mental health is extremely important and needs to be addressed with the same care and urgency as physical health. A doctor who really cares would make a better effort! Sounds like he’s in it for the money from other reviews so I will be taking my money to another doctor!!!

The worst psychiatrist around. He thinks he knows everything and when I called to tell him that I thought my DOUBLED dosage of Wellbutrin was making me worse, he told me that it was «just my depression.» I ended up being forcibly committed to a psych ward because of this moron refusing to listen to his own patient. I had all the classic symptoms of a bad reaction to the medication: suicidal ideation, hyper agitated, high blood pressure, inability to sleep, feeling like I was wired 24/​7, and he refused to listen to me. I’m in the process of looking for another doctor because he does not think you are competent or intelligent enough to know anything technical about yourself. Avoid this doctor at all costs, this doctor does not care what you think or say.

Dr Granese has a good reputation with other professionals. However, as the other reviewer wrote, he does not listen or value the patient’s knowledge about their own health. I saw him several years ago and stopped because he continued to recommend seratonin antidepressants, despite the fact that I told him I had been diagnosed with seratonin syndrome, a reaction to too much seratonin that can be life threatening. Recently he took over from my regular psychiatrist while she went out on maternity leave. Once again I told him I had a Dx of seratonin syndrome. He prescribed Wellbutrin, which has a low level of seratonin and that was fine but did not completely ameliorate my depression. He then added another medication, telling me it would supplement the wellbutrin. However, he did not tell me it was pure seratonin. Both times, I began to have reactions with the increase in seratonin… increased heart-​rate, temperature, blood pressure and shakiness/​jerking, typical of moderate seratonin reactions. I would have to stop driving, stop working and was wiped out for 30 – 40 minutes. Either he wasn’t listening to me or he didn’t believe me. Either way, it could have been serious! I won’t see him again, and I hope he reads this review, maybe he will believe that patients do know about their own health.

He cares about 1 thing: MONEY

My mother is suffering from benzo withdrawals. She was using Ativan for some 15 years and went cold turkey invoking a plethora of extremely nasty physical and psychological symptoms. These symptoms are extremely well documented and researched — The Ashton Manuel is one example. When we explained that my moms symptoms were the result of benzo withdrawal, he basically said «I dont care what you think.» He insisted instead that these symptoms were caused by cognitive disorder. He ignored the fact that all of these symptoms began right after going cold turkey. I was completely flabbergasted to say the least. Awful person to person social ability!!! Avoid at ALL costs!
