We really appreciate Danvers Animal Hospital and the entire DAH staff. Calling or using the website to make appointments is always easy, and they’ve always been accommodating to us when making those short notice appts. All the doctors we’ve ever seen have been very caring, though we do love to see Dr. Maggie best, and they do a great job explaining prognoses, costs, and options. We highly recommend DAH as a great animal hospital to bring your 4-​legged family members.

These people are a bunch of low lives. They are full of BS excuses for killing animals. If you do not walk in with thousands in hand they will literally sit there and watch your animal drop dead before their very eyes. I was reading Mr. Zammits review and boy did he hit the nail right on the head with these people. I hope one day they are in need of help and get left out to die reaching for a hand and nobody helps until they present an insurance card„ lol. Truth is, when someone or someones loved ones are in danger the last thing they remember to do is grab their insurance cards to insure proper treatment you dumb retards. I have money and plenty of it. God forbid you took someones word for it, in a time of life threatening situations when an animal is in imminent danger of losing life. I can not believe you sat there and could watch something like this happen to my dog. Angelo I am sorry you ever had to feel this pain and to Danvers Animal Hospital, I hope you get shut down and you should lose your license forever and never practice vet again you worthless piece of shi/.

I’ve been bringing my cats to DAH for over 10 years and now I am bringing my puppy there as well I love Dr. Meyers and the staff there! Everyone is pleasant and they take the time to get to know you and your pet.

My boyfriend and I just recently purchased a puppy at a Pet Express location and the reason that drew us to this place is the «FREE 1ST PUPPY WELLNESS VISIT». Since we usually don’t venture out to the North Shore area, we decided to give this place a try. I called ON THE DAY OF and got a same day appointment which I was super happy about. The location was a bit hard to find since they had a small sign and it was kind of hidden behind the trees but other than that, the facility was great-​nice, clean, simple. they had rescued pets in the lobby (birds and cats that were in cages or crates) for display/​adoption– it was really cute. Overall the visit was great, we arrived about 30 mins early for our appointment and we were treated with friendly service. We were called in 5 mins early from our original time and waited probably less than 10 mins for the vet to come in. The exam room was clean, organized and looked well stocked. We had the pleasure to meet Dr. Starble and she was friendly towards my puppy and I. She answered our questions to the best of her knowledge and didn’t impose or pressure us into buying or signing up for additional things for our pup. She was precise and direct about his vaccinations. If we didn’t live so far away, we probably will be going to this place but for now, we’ll just see.

I usually have good luck with DAH. Unfortunately, the last time I went, I came in right at opening with my cat for a quick nail trim and ended up waiting an hour before being seen. I was told it would be a little bit of a wait (she said maybe a ½ hour) but it ended up being over an hour. I have to give my poor guy something to calm him before appointments and you could tell it was starting to wear off by the time they took him. Most of the staff was obvlious to the fact that I waited so long, one older woman realized and made sure I got in right away. They should start offering appointments for nail trims so that the animals (and humans) don’t have to sit there terrified.

Below is my response to a letter I received from Danvers Animal Hospital… I think It speaks for itself.
«In response to your letter of an overdue balance of $ 38.00, I cannot stress enough my disappointment in your establishment. I have been bringing my dog there for many years and over $ 38.00 you threaten to not treat her and to turn over the account to your attorney. I understand that procedures are in place to obtain payment, however; this seems extreme for the dollar amount.
I have not lived in Danvers for many years and have other animal hospitals close by but have continued to bring my business to you. You have made it very clear that the wellbeing of animals is not your first priority.
The error was made by your staff in not charging me for a rabies vaccine at the time of our last visit; I was informed days later when I called because I was given an old rabies vaccine letter. I figured I would pay the balance at our next appointment. We will not be returning to Danvers Animal Hospital after the way we’ve been treated.
Enclosed you will find a certified check for $ 38.00.»

Called DAH after my regular vet in my hometown vet could not schedule an appointment for my 14 – 16 year old cat, Nameless, until almost a week later. DAH gave me an appointment not only the same day, but within hours! Dr. Morris was wonderful with Nameless, and he has a new regular vet. The examination she gave him was thorough, and I now have answers to a lot of questions about his health that have eluded other vets I have taken him to. She really liked him, and he responded by being very well behaved for her.

My dog had a total ACL replacement by Dr. Myers! First and foremost, he was amazing in the treatment he gave to my dog. I was seeing a vet prior that was treating my dog with anti-​inflammatory and pain meds… I called them stating my dog was very ill. They said to keep giving them to him. I chose not to THANKFULLY. I contacted Danvers Animal Hospital and Dr. Myers, HIMSELF, called me and ordered them stopped at once. I was given an expeditious appointment and was never so grateful! He showed love to my dog the same way I do (I have a large Rottweiler) and he was on the floor hugging him up just as I do! :) During that examine he told me that if I had continued the original course of treatment my dogs stomach would have burnt thru with no help for it!!!
After the exam we all knew he needed the ACL replacement. (Something the other vet wanted me to «wait and see» then wanted me to do a special laser surgery costing an astronomical amount of money!!!)
«Dr. George» as we call him… explained every option I had and what HE WOULD DO IF IT WAS HIS DOG… and I booked it and the surgery! (probably not the most important aspect but it is important to note the most reasonable price we were ever quoted)
It was done with just loving, caring hands, and they went far above and beyond anything I expected! During the surgery and the overnight stay, I got several calls to just let me know how my boy was… that he was in surgery, he was done, he was sleeping, he was still sleeping LOL…(looking back now, I was a holy nervous hot mess) and there were calls to just give me piece of mind that he was okay!!! The following day I got to go get him and with him being such a LARGE dog (Shhh he is 158lbs now and on a diet shhh) the staff came out and helped me get him into the car and let me know exactly how to handle him… later that day, Dr. George also called to check in! (not an vet tech, not another vet… the man who did the surgery!) He spent about 30+ minutes on the phone with me covering every thing and then told me to call anytime! I never have felt that my dog was in better hands… not just medically but with a group that made him a part of their family!!!
To follow up with that:
I brought my dog the other day (2 years post op) for a rabies vaccine that happened to time with this odd limp. My fear was the ACL. I did not see Dr. George this time, I saw a new vet in the practice (I hope I am right in her name) Dr. Maggie? She examined his leg so closely and told me to forgo the xray as odds are it is arthritis and a strain (hopefully) but she would check back with me in a few weeks as she felt pain management would be a great next step. I am happy to report that he is hardly limping at all. (A week of rest and meds) And she said it is common place to need pain management because CLEARLY all over his file it reada he cannot take an anti-​inflammatory! (Just to show again how there is amazing communication there) Dr. George explained to me way back that Arthritis was to be expected… I cannot 100% say that this is the case as we are still in the wait and see pattern… but it is nice to see my dog’s not being put thru all kinds of tests that clearly will not show anything… Most importantly, I know that they are just a phone call away if anything changes! THAT alone gives me a huge piece of mind.
The office is extremely clean, they have a pet bird that my dog is very confused over! LOL The out front staff are seriously the sweetest people!!!
I cannot recommend this place enough…
Dr. George Myers is who I would normally see and I want to thank him in this forum (as I have personally) for not just saving my dogs life with the whole anti-​inflammatory issue, but for being so good to me in communicating from day one! He is by far the kindest vet and the most knowledgeable, realistic, and supportive person!
I have recommended him and am happy my friends have agreed with me! He is far above what any vet I have used in the past! (Again, I cannot stress that having a Rottweiler can be intimidating to some… to them he is just a big bear!) (The original vet I mentioned would only see him muzzled… mind you, ask the staff at Danvers Animal Hospital… the biggest threat he brings is slobbering you with wet kisses!!! LOL)
Also an important fact, this practice takes care of wounded wildlife… may not seem huge, but to me… a heart that care for animals that cannot pay back meant something to me… (WITHOUT passing the costs down to us the clients)

Thank you to Dr. Land and everyone at Danvers Animal Hospital for literally saving our puppy’s life this week after he was attacked by another dog. You treated Willie not only with top quality care, but also with incredible tenderness and affection. You kept us in the loop every step of the way and treated Willie as if he were your own. You are our heroes!

As first time dog owners, we brought our rescued dog for his first visit and everything went well. The second visit was another story. Our dog had developed an awful sound, sort of a mix between a cough and gasping for air. We were seen right away. The Doctor that came in was cold, condescending and accused us of not keeping our dog properly vaccinated. My husband and I felt so guilty. We have made it our goal that the dog be treated with love and patience given the dog’s prior history before rescue. The DR. diagnosed Kennel Cough and indicated that a vaccination could have avoided this. I said he had been vaccinated and the Vet said «no, he hasn’t. I had asked him to double check the file and was told he did. $ 150.00 dollars later along with two prescriptions purchased, it was discovered by me that our dog had been properly vaccinated and was up to date on all vaccinations. The Doctor never read the dog vaccination record! Another Vet correctly diagnosed the dog with a congenital defect to his tracchia. Two stars because the first visit went so well.

Complete lack of humanity and compassion. Our family dog had been under their care for a year and half for cancer. When he passed away at home and we brought him in (after alerting them that we were coming up with him), we were greeted by extremely rude and inconsiderate attitudes. Not only did they make us wait outside in the freezing cold with our poor dead dog but the vet refused to even talk to us. They just wanted us to pay and drive around back with the dog. We brought our dog to the back and were simply told to have a good night. A week later and I am still extremely angry. AVOID this place at all cost. Please spread the word because no family who loses a beloved family member should ever be treated this way.

I have 4 pets and have been going here for a couple of years. They were close to my house and therefore very convenient. However the past couple of visits I have had to wait either to check-​in, check out or just wait for the Vet. Their front desk staff is extremely disorganized and if it gets really busy… forget it you will be waiting awhile! After my last visit of waiting 50 minutes to see the Vet, I made an appt for Monday morning thinking it may not be as booked. My check in went smoothly and then I sat for 30 minutes, watching a few others come in after me and get into see the vet ahead of me. Upon asking when the Vet would see me, she asked what the name was (again) and I was told I was next. I then proceeded to sit again for 10 more minutes. I finally got up and told one of the front desk girls that I was leaving, and that I was sick of waiting. Instead of apologizing for the wait she simply looked at me and said «what’s the name?». I was floored and walked out in disgust. They are the most unprofessional people I have ever had to deal with. I will take my 4 pets and all the $$ I spend on Veterinary serves somewhere else.

I never even got to see the vet. I brought my scared little kitten for his first chck up. I had a 2:30 appointment. When I arrived at 2:15, rather than tell me they’re backed up and ask me to reschedule, I was told to sit and wait. I sat and waited until 3:15. By that time my kitten was so mortified I had to leave and take him home. I had no idea how much longer it would even be if I had waited since the staff kept telling me «couple more minutes.» The staff never even asked me to reschedule or apologize for their lack of concern for their clients and the animals.

I will not ever board my dog here again and I wouldn’t recommend that you do either. Here’s why:
We got our dog from Northeast Animal Shelter a few months ago and had him checked out by the vet they recommended. He had all of his shots updated, was cleared for all of the usual suspects — fleas/​ticks/​stool issues, etc. Our vet faxed over the clearance and medical records so that we could board him while we were away.
We called a few days into our trip to see how he was doing as it was our first time leaving him and they said he «wasn’t the kind of dog that should be boarded» but they never explained what that meant. He’s normally a very loving and affectionate dog and we give him a ton of attention, so maybe he just wasn’t used to being cooped up in a room and only let out 3x a day for 10 minutes at a time. They said they weren’t full and didn’t have many other dogs to board, but somehow a day or two later, he ended up with «kennel cough» for which they treated him.
So rather than a $ 175 cost to board him, it turned into over $ 300 by the time they treated him for something he didn’t even come in there with. We called our own vet when we got him home and they said they had him on too high a dosage of antibiotics given his weight so we needed to cut it back and that he should be feeling better in a few days.
Danvers came highly recommended by a personal acquaintance but after this experience, I will not EVER board an animal here again. EVER. Spend the extra money to leave your pet in a private home where they’ll get the care and attention they need versus leaving them in a dirty crate for 23.5 hours a day.

I am sorry to see all the poor review because I would strongly recommend this vet to anyone and everyone. I am a huge animal lover with LOTS dogs and the folks at Danvers have helped my family with everything from routine check ups to consoling my uncontrollable sobbing when my golden retriever finally passed away at age 16. They are professionals with a heart — and I, for one, need that. Jesse is INCREDIBLE and goes above and beyond to take care of us and make sure we are getting what we need.

Two good friends had reviews here that disappeared so quite frankly I’m telling everyone about how this place PAYS to have poor reviews removed.
This place treats animals like garbage unless it’s a routine visit
They have no experience dealing with some problems so they do poor work then charge you a LOT. Way more than other local places, then they have major attitude.
Keep your attitude, you have nothing to be proud of, you own a terrible business.
Also this place has no idea what it is doing, is very disorganized, way too expensive and quite terrible if you want to go beyond routine care.
Go somewhere else or you and your pet will pay DEARLY.
Seriously, remove this review and you will hear from my lawyer.

Dr. Myers failed to inform me that my dog tested positive for Lyme Disease last year. What I took to be signs of aging – stiffness and occasional tripping – turned out to be symptoms of the Lyme. When she tested positive this year, and he looked back in her records and caught his blunder, he didn’t offer more than an «Oops.» As a result, my dog developed other health issues. Dr. Myers said these issues were unrelated, but he was simply trying to cover his mistake. I immediately switched to Dr. Teague at DAH, who is GREAT. He took the time to explain things to me, and diligently followed up with my dog’s blood test results and described the next steps in her care. He is very attentive, patient, and genuine. The road to recovery has taken six months, but thanks to Dr. Teague, my dog was able to celebrate her 14^th birthday in November. So if you plan to take your dog to DAH, I highly recommend Dr. Teague.

The good: The Vets here are very good, and my pet has seen probably 5 of them over the course of the last few years. No problems there.
The bad: For anything else dealing with the support staff for anything other than routine appointment scheduling is like dealing with the people at the registry. Service with an attitude.
I am not basing this on one or two incidents, this is consistent bad service over the course of 3.5 years.
#1 Prescription costs. I cannot afford the 50% markup compared to online pet supply for my pet’s daily medication (I pay $ 60 per month for the reduced price online which is high enough!). When I need a refill to be faxed over and I’ve had my pet through the multiple blood tests, office visits etc. required to get the refill, the staff will do everything in their power to make it difficult for you to refill it using the online prescription provider CONSISTENTLY this is not a one-​off experience.
#2 If you have Petco do your pet’s shots (god forbid) you will be harrassed at least a half dozen times that your pet is overdue and it does not matter that you bring your paperwork EVERYTIME and they tell you they are updating your record with major attitude.
#3 You are returning a call from the vet that has cared for your pet… you will leave message after message. In the most recent case, I said please, have ANY vet call me. Show up in person, that’s what I had to do to learn if my pet had cancer or not.
#4 Nail clippings done by the «Techs», ever hear of not cutting the «quick», apparently not.
Oh yeah, and the ugly? The bill! but I can’t fault them for that, the prices seem comparable to any other vet.

How to loose two stars and a client…
Recently brought my dog here to get a check up. During the examination I pointed out to the vet that my dog had some flakes of dander in his coat that I noticed during his grooming which I pointed out during the examination. The vet said to use an oatmeal soap which I already picked up prior to the exam. I left it as dry skin due to his first winter in the New England.
Fast forward to today, I finally got around to giving the pooch his bi-​annual haircut. While hand stripping him I noticed he had more dander and little black dots all on his scalp. FLEAS. FML!
This explained the source of the dander which was really dead skin from the flea bites which looked pretty back after cutting his hair. I spent most of my Sunday running around town buying product to remedy this situation.
I am at a lost for words that an experienced vet could have missed something so obvious. This is a dangerous condition for a small dog of his size.
Thinking back, I never received a phone call following up on the status of my dog’s blood work. I have never experienced anything like this with any of the other five clinics I have taken my dog to over the past eight years.
Conclusion: I am taking backing two stars and more if I could…

I really tried to like this place. It was close, modern and pleasant looking. However, the service is really uneven. We brought our cats to see three different vets there over a period of three years but I would only return to one of them. The first was snappish and abrasive, plus she seemed inclined towards unnecessary procedures. $ 1000 in teeth cleaning and surgery on a cataract one of my cats has had since birth. He’s 10 now. The second was pleasant, but unfortunately an emergency visit forced me to see a different vet. The third gave me incorrect and rather alarmist information about harmful chemicals that exist in most wet cat food.* Also, she didn’t read the chart and tried to tell me my cats didn’t need a vaccination when I knew her they did. Then she tried to give them the wrong vaccination, a second rabies shot in 4 months instead of distemper. Finally she screwed up the itemization on the receipt.
* I did some research and discovered both the food manufacturer AND the FDA disagreed with the vet’s claims about propylene glycol in wet cat food. I called for a clarification, in case I was misremembering, but she insisted. The receptionist proudly told me they always recommend cutting out wet food but it «causes 90% of diarrhea.» I’d like my pet without an agenda, thank you.
