Monkey Joe’s

I put 2 quarters in a machine and they got stuck. I informed the woman behind the counter. She called over a young man to help. He then proceeded to pick out the coins with a plastic knife. This took several minutes to retrieve the coins. I thanked him, but I could not believe how unprofessional this was. I will not be going back anytime soon. I also thought the place was very dirty.

Dirty & Dingy. Equipment has seen better days. Have gone a couple times, and always assume my will be sick after going. Feels and looks unclean with kids coughing and sneezing all over. Kids are allowed to run through the place with no supervision. Workers there don’t seem to care. Expensive for what you get. My kids seem to get bored after a short while. Several things are restricted to older kids, which I understand, but it cuts down on things to do.

The kids I nanny for have been begging me to take them here for weeks. They’ve been here for several birthday parties in the past, and since we weren’t going to have the baby today we thought we’d come check it out. I read some reviews and I think people have way over exaggerated about the downfalls.
–the staff were all reasonably friendly. I saw refs walking around monitoring, and the girls behind the food counter were out going and talkative.
— around 2:00 we ordered pizza which my kiddos loved! We want to find out where they get it from. We ordered 4 slices-​not sure if they are running low or not because they had enough.
–facility is clean, and all equipment is working. There are several kinds of jumpy houses/​slides, and it helps make a big crowd feel smaller.
–the seating for adults isn’t great, but it’s not much worse than most indoor playgrounds. As a parent, you should know what you’re walking into when coming facility like this. With so many kids running around, tables and chairs inevitably get broken, so it make sense to replace in the cheapest way.
–price was the same as most other indoor playgrounds in the area which is decent considering the amount of electricity they’re probably using to power the inflatables.
–I read a few reviews about the temperature. It’s cold in there, which is a service to your children who, if you notice, are sweating bullets. You have to keep a place like this frigid to prevent kids from over heating. Parents, just plan accordingly.
Over all-​a pretty good experience. I haven’t looked into parties or dealt with them at length, but our trip was average and nice. My only real complaint would be the amount of coin operated games. It takes away a little.

Extremely friendly staff from the moment I called to book a party to seeing is off on our way out. Pizza is awesome, goodie bags are perfect, and the staff looking out for my little one was great as well. Our experience was very pleasant and we will be back.

Bring your snow suits, gloves and hats. Seems money is tight for the owners as there is NO HEAT at all in here. Meanwhile once they open they chose to THEN clean the jumpy houses. Gone down hill if you ask me. All set.

After not visiting this business for several years after my eldest daughter was traumatized by a much larger than her child pinning her down on the bouncy house, I decided to give it another go now that my kids are older. Location wise, the facility is easy to find, and right on Route 1 making it conveniently located as well. We went on a busy Sunday, and my kids had a BLAST! The facility was clean, and the staff was super friendly. The only downside I saw was the limited amount of seating for adults. I was there for about 2 hours and I never once saw an available seat.
Can we open one of these places for adults? I want to bounce around too!

I had a birthday party for my four year old grandson at this facility. From the initial phone call to settling the bill at the end, we were treated with courtesy and professionalism. The staff member that ran the party was energetic and really seemed to enjoy her job. The kids loved her. She asked if we had any special needs and even inquired as to whether any of the boys would be afraid of the Monkey Joe costumed character. They literally met me at the door, took my balloons, goodie bags, etc. and I didn’t have to lift another finger. It was nice leaving the party mess behind with them, too! We had nineteen boys between four and six years old. We saw plenty of staff, dressed as «referees». They dealt with situations as they came up, and I did not see any injuries or incidents. Every child from our party had an absolute blast. Yes, this is a place with lots of sweaty kids running around and I’m sure there are germs everywhere BUT there are germs at school and on the playground as well. What I liked was seeing children run, play, and laugh while challenging physical skills such as strength, agility and balance. As one Dad said «this is like American Ninja for kids!». Bottom line: if you want to keep your child in a protective bubble, this isn’t the place for you. If you have kids that like to laugh, run and play, consider Monkey Joe’s for your next party.

Do not plan your child’s birthday here! Staff was horrible and rude. My cousin’s daughter’s first birthday was here and it was horrific. It was a Tuesday night so it wasn’t incredibly busy. They said the room was booked for other parties, but no one else showed up. You pay over $ 300 for a room you get for 30 minutes. When we wanted more pizza, they ran out because they order from a different location. There is a food menu and the only thing available were pretzels. Honestly, they were probably lazy to make food because it was almost closing time. You can bring your own cake, but you couldn’t bring it outside of the party room. Nothing else is needed because «we take care of everything.»
Do yourself a favor and book at Bonker’s or Chuckie Cheese instead.

Had a birthday party here. Was pretty underwhelmed.
The kids had a blast running around for an hour or so then they called us into the room. They served the kids pizza and left, didn’t say anything. So when the kids were done with the pizza I put the candles in the cake, lit the candles and we sang. About 10 minutes after I send someone for a knife to cut the cake a woman says oh we will take care of this where are your candles. I told her we had already sang and I just needed to cut and serve the cake. She was upset that we had already sang before ‘monkey jane’ came in. Had they told us they’d be back to sing we would have waited. They wouldn’t let me cut the cake, butchered the cake! Then never returned.
The kids had a blast but I found the service mediocre at best. It wasn’t very organized and they did not communicate well. If I was given their game plan all would have been fine.

They’ve downgraded but charge the same. Some fun things that my family enjoyed are now missing.
In the past my kids always had a blast at monkey joes despite the unfriendly staff that ignores you at the pay counter for the first 10 min after you arrive (every time I come, they walk away without saying anything and talk on the phone because taking calls is more important than a face-​to-​face customer). And then there’s the unregulated over crowding. Occasionally there will be 1 staff member at 1 inflatable slide who doesn’t actually regulate how many kids are on there but quips to every kid, «don’t run» in an indoor playground. But not all running is prohibited. .. they always run out of pizza so never plan on getting any. They order it from an off site pizza place and as soon as it’s delivered all slices are sold by lunch time. They seem to get only a box or 2. There are mechanical rides and arcade games that you need to put quarters into that wastes more of your money.
Today the 1 on-​floor staff member did countless laps around the inflatables apparently for the sake of safety. It’s good he got some exercise in during work. There’s no one regulating what goes on in those inflatables and parents don’t dare try to step in one. I’ve seen some shamed at trying to get their kid out of the large obstacle courses where kids can easily hide when it’s time to leave.
At this past visit I discovered some downgrades:
!!No bouncy house! at this inflatable playground. It’s been removed. My guess is because they don’t have the staff to supervise it so it’d often get over crowed with both big and small children falling on each other but regardless, that had been a favorite so it’s disappointing. In reality it probably wasn’t taken down for safety reasons but because it was their only inflatable without the monkey joe name, yellow and purple company colors and mascot all over it. .. It was dark blue with Nemo. It went against the continuity of their branding.
Inflatable obstacle course is not inflated/​not turned on. But wait, after 1 ½ hr after we arrived (after they opened for the day) it’s been turned on. So depending on how long you stay there are either 6 inflatables or 7 but never that 8^th bouncy house.
They removed the more comfortable pleather chairs for grown ups. Now there are only hard aluminum chairs and picnic tables.
Many of the mechanical rides are gone leaving 2. Many arcade games have been added (bring your quaters!).
My iphone won’t connect to their wifi signal. It doesn’t have a password but since this isn’t an issue at other places with wifi I just want to blame MJ.
It’s a little pricey if you don’t stay long and it is super boring for parents who are sitting in hard aluminum where they can’t watch their kids have fun and can’t connect to wifi or get someone to come over to them at the counter in a reasonable amount of time when they want to order pizza that they actually ran out of at noon but the kids have fun and that’s what it’s all about! It’s not about my comfort level because after all, I’m not a paying customer (parents are admitted free).

From the reading the reviews, I was honestly scared to step foot into Monkey Joes. I went this past Friday and it wasn’t bad at all. Maybe it was because there weren’t as many kids and families. The staff were friendly and helpful when asking about birthday party packages. I noticed they also were cleaning the areas. My 20 month old and his 8 year old cousin had a great time.

Only went to Monkey Joes b/​c my niece had her birthday party there. I had heard such horrible things. All those «things» were right!
The place is filthy. My 5 year old told me that the slides were «greasy and wet». Some kids even had wet bottoms from the blow up slides. It’s way over crowded and apparently any ages are allowed in together. BUT parents can’t go on any of the slides.
The place is run by teenagers that were playing as much as the paid patrons. There is absolutely no customer service.
What really set me off is that when my niece asked to leave with us from the party We were met at the «red rope» to exit and was told by one of the teenage workers that we couldn’t leave with the birthday girl because her mother (who was still there) hadn’t paid for the party yet. I assured them that the 6 year old birthday girl wasn’t paying for the party! She blocked the exit and finally I took the red rope and let ourselves out.
All the previous reviews are correct. Would never go to this place again if my life depended on it.
Also, according to what my sister in law paid for the party, way over priced for what you get.

Oy. Who was the genius who thought anything about this place would be a good idea? Big bouncy things with multiple ways in and out. Parents not allowed to get it and help their kids. Uninterested staff. 3 year olds in the same places as 12 year olds. Kids coughing and sneezing all over the place and not one hand sanitizer in sight. Chaos all around. Other than a wristband to indicate you are with a party, there is no security. When having a party, you get a private room for pizza but the bouncing room is open to multiple parties and general public. At no time during the birthday party we attended did I feel confident that I would ever go back. The kids had fun and luckily no one got hurt, but I still have nightmares of the experience.

It’s an inflatable playground not Disneyland. I wished they allowed us adults to assist our 2 year olds that are scared to climb the ladder to get to the slide, once they try it once I’m sure they’d climb it on their own. Also more hand sanitizers would be nice.

Fun slides for the kids with lots of open space and areas for adults. Although the place lacks staff and inexperienced «referees», on normal days, it is actually a well run playground.
I read so many negative reviews for this place, from stolen sneakers to germs. Stolen sneakers or personal property is a risk to all parents. Are you going to blame Monkey Joe if your car was broken into? Germs … well, they’re everywhere! It’s a playground people … what do you want?
The kitchen offers some goods. But, at some point, they should have their own Pizza making equipment. They currently buy Pizza from the outside.
Great place for kids during rainy and cold days. The Birthday parties are good, not great. Would recommend.

Was planning to have my sons bday here so I went one afternoon with a gf to check it out… we arrived at 530 only to learn they close at 6… I guess I could have looked up ahead of time to see when they closed…
It was also randomly the night that Tornadoes hit Mass and didnt want to be out driving in the horrible weather…
So we ducked in & the place was fairly empty — there was a bday party happening at the time & probably 10 kids there… I brought my son over to the Toddler Section (he is almost 2) and he wanted nothing to do with that little section… He Ran right forr the big Monkey Joe ride (which said it was closed — as were3 other rides)
So we play for a few minutes & he cant really get in anything because he isnt aware enough of what to do & Im told I cant go in to help him — It was kind of disappointing because I think had he been able to go down a slide or climb some stuff he might have actually enjoyed it…
So I then went to talk to the Mgr & ask all my questions about the party I was scheduling & she told me she cant reserve it for me this early (I went in May & Party is in August) that I have plenty of time & just call later. She then told me that I shouldnt come on a weekend afternoon it gets too busy… (Great Welcoming Attitude)
I then came on here & read Several reviews about how parents were treated & older kids run crazy & the Refs dont do much to stop it… I noticed a listing for a local Jump Place (Jump on In) — Woburn, MA & they are a private Jump Place where you book the hall & the only people in your room are your party… Im going with them! I would rather know if someone is knocking my son down its probably his cousin & if I lose him he is at least with someone I know…
It was fun to go in on a weeknight but prolly not a good place (Per Reviews) for a bday!

Where to start…
Inattentive teenage staff who would care less? Check
Rude, nasty manager who just cares about money? Check
Dirty, dingy unsafe play space? Check
A week before we went we called and checked that there is a play area appropriate for our 17 month old son. We were assured there was. We figured for $ 5 we might as well check it out.
I should have walked out.
When we walked in it was over crowded. The entrance way has a coat room (which no one is watching) where everyone is supposed to leave their coats and shoes. We opted to hold onto our son’s boots so they didn’t get stolen (that seems to be a problem there judging from other reviews).
The cashier seemed annoyed with people in general.
There was only 1 entrance/​exit. Once you paid you had to wait for the «referee» to let you through. The problem was that they are also checking armbands as they let you out. It took me about 5 minutes to get their attention so they could let me in.
There is are several large signs with the rules of the area. Too bad no one was there to enforce them.
Once we got in we saw the «under 3» play area. It was a small bouncy area. Adults are not allowed in any of the areas so I put my son in and stood nearby where he could see me. He couldn’t get his footing so he crawled out. My husband and I decided to take him and do a once around of the place.
The «no running, climbing, shoving» rules went right out the window and we didn’t see one «referee» anywhere near any of the bouncy areas. Which were clustered close together with very little space in between to move around. We watched several kids get trampled and decided to go to the «under 3″ play area again.
I put my son in while my husband used the restrooms…
I held my son and bounced him a bit and then let him play. Again he had trouble keeping his footing. He managed to stand back up and tried to play at which point a larger child (I’m guessing around 5 years or so) slammed him into the „floor“. My son got upset (having just regained his balance) and started to cry for me. I went to go get him and was promptly told by a „referee“ (the first one I actually saw on the play floor) that I was not allowed to go in to get my son.
At that point we were livid. There is no way in hell you are going to tell me that I am not supposed to help my child who is hurt and scared.
I wanted to speak to a manager.
We went to the entrance/​exit and asked to speak to a manager.
If you thought it couldn’t get any worse you’re in for a surprise.
Ref: The manager is the person in the black shirt
Me: They’re all wearing black shirts, it’s your uniform»
Ref: Well she’s there.
Me: can someone let her know we need to talk to her because I don’t know which one she is.
Ref: OK *he stands there sort of stupefied until the customer behind him say «can you please let us out while she is waiting?»
We went through the same conversation with about 4 employees before finally figuring out who the manager was.
Me: we want a refund
Manager: we don’t offer refunds to anyone (a sure sign of a badly run business).
I explain to her what happened
Manager: well, I would have let you get him
Me: but your employee didn’t. They didn’t stop the other kid from shoving him or other children, they didn’t stop any of the other children rough housing and they didn’t allow me to get my child when he was hurt.
Manager: but I would have let you get him
(wow, no sign of a «I’m sorry they shouldn’t have done that»)
Me: that doesn’t help me. The place it over crowded, it isn’t safe, you don’t have employees keeping things safe and I think you are over your limit in here.
Manager: No we aren’t
Me: what is it, I don’t see it listed?
Manager: I don’t know
Me: you didn’t even could my husband or several other people in here, how would you even know if you are over the limit.
Manager: well, we have a policy to never offer refunds.
Great way to run a business. You couldn’t pay me to go back there.

Monkey Joe’s = The Depths of Hell!
This place makes Chucky cheese look like a spa retreat.
It is a big play space with hundreds of small children running amok spreading germs and mostly falling down all over the place.
I saw so many coughing snotty kids everywhere. Parents don’t seem to care that hundreds of kids are going to catch that cold because you are too selfish to keep the sick kid home. Huge health hazard and it also seemed like kids were getting hurt left and right.. . It is anarchy.
Kids of all ages are allowed to play. I don’t think a 4 year old should be in a bouncy room with a bunch of 10 year olds. Also the poor girl who’s job it was walk around with a puke bucket and clean up supplies creeps me out. Gross! I tried not to touch anything around me.
Since I NEVER venture into places like this I unfortunately ended up here for a children’s B-​day party, which is a total rip off.
This is what I learned about a Monkey Joe B-​Day party:
1. When you rent a room you only get it for a measly 30 minutes
2. You pile gifts into huge dumpster looking bins where they are crushed and left out in the open for anyone to steal.
3. The only thing to eat is pizza. Cake not included
4. Monkey Joe shows up to say hello for a whopping 5 minutes.
6. They sit the birthday girl/​boy in a giant inflatable palm tree chair (WTF???)
7. I was told this entire sh#tty half hour experience costs $ 200+ bucks.
RIP OFF!!!
I have never seen so many miserable husbands in my life. You can tell which husbands have been castrated by spotting the ones holding their wives purses.
This place should give out helmets and shots of tequila at the door.
i will never go back EVER. Save your money and have a party at home.

We recently went here to celebrate my daughter’s 2^nd birthday with her older sister who is 6. The cost wasn’t so bad, as I know that similar places in the area are pretty pricey.
The admission is reasonable but the cost of the other essentials like food and souvenirs is a bit steep.
The staff is nice and friendly but there are not enough of these «referees» to monitor all children for safety and compliance of rules and regulations.
They have a small toddler area that is much easier to monitor then the bigger attractions are.
Like Chuck E Cheese they give the child and one parent matching wrist bands to ensure that children are leaving with the right people.
Definitely a good spot for a rainy or snowy day but a lot of money if it’s a nice day out. Time would be better spent outside in that case.
