Homey diner with no frills, but great service, cheap food and a welcoming atmosphere. Come to Jake’s if you are looking for your basic eggs & bacon meal and an average cup of coffee. Food is served very quickly but you are made to feel welcome to stay for as long as you would like.

Had special of the day, a Caesar wrap. Absolutely the best I have ever had. Convenient on and off highway location. If you like diners, try this on your NYC commute!

Went here based on a recommendation from a local doctors office — it’s really just a deli disguised as a diner. All the seats were pretty much filled and their wasn’t really enough room for me & the 3 other people I was with so we walked out — -only to be followed out by a really nasty man who stopped out to ask us with an attitude if we had a problem. What if we were just going back to the car to something? Horrible people skills overall.

I lived in Darien for 3 years in the late 90 before moving to Denver. Darien is a great town, but I come back for Jake’s Place. Best breakfast in town, best cheese steak in the world!

IVe always said that if you want a good meal at a great price while traveling, look for the place where the sheriff’s cars are parked. Well, when traveling on I95 you want to get off at Jake’s Place at exit 10, because all the cop cars are there for breakfast and lunch. Great food, fast service and the most pleasant and efficient staff that you have ever seen in a diner. Bet you can’t eat there just once !!!

Reliable, friendly, clean, and caring atmosphere. Serving very good staples and some with a twist in a diner/lunchonette setting. Daily specials keep the menu interesting. Soups are very good. Good coleslaw too. Everything is fresh and prices are reasonable.

Jakes place is very good for in-n-out lunch or breakfast. I work nearby, it’s very convenient. You can a get descent sandwich for under $ 10. They have daily specials which is great for people to try out new items. I’ve seen few tables and chairs but I wouldn’t recommend a great place to sit down and eat at Darien.

I love this place for breakfast – their breakfast special – two eggs, bacon, home fries, toast and coffee for $ 6.75. Can not beat it. Fresh, piping hot and delish. Counter staff is friendly, but most importantly, efficient. They move quickly and know their stuff. This seems to be the go to place for local contractors(always a good sigh – usually indicates good, fresh and reasonably priced food). So much so that this place is closed on Sunday instead of Monday – indicating that the bulk of their business must come during the week.

Very friendly and good food. The place is small but accommodated us and our 1.5 year old really well. We will be going back!

This is crap. Served with an indifferent attitude and lack of care, you could do better at Burger King There is no reason a place like this cant knock eggs out of the park, but they can’t. Blue collar food should be sold fare, this is decidedly not. Poor home fries, limp eggs, limp toast… The place is lame! Sad to say…

When Panini in Stamford closed I looked for a deli to get breakfast from every morning. 3 scrambled eggs with 2 sausage. Stopped into Jake’s based on Unilocal’s recommendations and found it to be a nice place, cozy, friendly people, but incredibly expensive. I found this odd since the clientele appears to be local landscapers, carpenters, and workers who would appear to have less resources than many of Darien’s residents. I called a number of local breakfast providers and found the cost of this particular breakfast to vary at follows: Mama Carmella’s Deli $ 5.00 Pete’s Deli $ 5.00 Uncles $ 5.08 Sugar Bowl $ 7.70 Jake’s Place $ 9.00 Shame, I would have liked to go to them, they were convenient and had the feel of an old fashioned diner.

A very good diner experience, both in food and service. Many locals and a lot of blue collar workers stop in for breakfast and lunch. I cannot believe it took me so long to go to Jake’s, but I’ll be back soon. My burger was the special that comes on toast with cheese and coleslaw, and my companion had the Darien deluxe which is basically just a classic burger. Both of us were happy with the selections and the fries were piping hot and crisp. Next time I stop in, I plan to get one of their Philly sandwiches as they seemed to have a couple of different ones and it must be something they’re good at making. While not a criticism, it must be pointed out that there is not a lot of seating. Maybe 6 small tables and then about 5 counter seats. Therefore, it’s best to either stop in solo or with at most 2 – 3 other people. Anything beyond a group of 4 and I think you’d be having to take it to go as it would be difficult to get decent seating arranged.

Over all a great diner exspeience– variety, fast & friendly. Traditional local’s favorite! Happy staff, keep you happy & satisfied. Old school style décor. Very clean. Applewood smoked bacon, Boars Head deli meat/cheese. Makes his own corn beef– & makes an amazing hash out of it too! Home made roast beef, hot specials everyday like: chicken cordon blu, roasted BBQ chicken, roasted beef w aujus. Amazing tuna melts– cheddar, munster, albacore tuna w marbled rye. Fri: NE Clam Chowder loaded w clams– more clams than potatoes, thick creamy. Tapioca & rice puddings are excellent. Pastrami & eggs, Blueberry pancakes light fluffy & huge! Easy on /off highway. Packed early mornings & weekends. Private parking.

Stopped for lunch on the way back from Philly, and we were all happy with our meals. «Best Grilled Cheese» was quite tasty. Small, local, nice servers. It was what we were looking for.

Very tiny, very local place. There is always a steady flow of people going in and out. Maybe only 6 small tables and a short counter. The food is good, delicious breakfasts as well as a great lunch. Lots of sandwiches and burgers for lunch. Nice staff and super speedy service. Good for one person to stop in for a quick bite to eat.
