11÷2÷2015 — Can you believe it has been since the early 90’s that I had an eye exam done? I think it was about time. I have been experiencing «floaters» and tired vision at night, almost blurry for the past 2 years. I am the only one in my family who does not use glasses, so I figured it was probably time. I also had a birthday recently, so I figured, this is all signs of getting older.
I called Nova Southeastern University, Eye Care Institute to make an appointment on October 30^th. I spoke to Hilda, and I must say she was amazing… She walked me through the appointment process, explained that NSU is a teaching institution, how long the appointment would take, locations, address, appointment time, etc. She also let me know to arrive early because I needed to fill out new patient paperwork. She was professional, knowledgeable and friendly. I am very happy with the customer service I received from Hilda.
I walked in to their clinic in Davie. I was greeted by Roy at the front desk. The process went smoothly. Roy was very helpful.
Soraya Lopez, was my Optometry student. When she called me, she introduced herself and shook my hand. We walked to the spacious exam room. I explained to Soraya that this was my first exam in a long time. Soraya made me feel at ease, she explained every single exam she did, constantly asking; «Do you have any questions so far»? Her bedside manner and professionalism is top notch. I’ve never had my eyes dilated, I honestly did not even know what it was. She put all my worries at ease and I had it done. After I had the most thorough exam I’ve ever had, Dr. Reed came in to talk to me; she ran another exam and let me know that what I was experiencing was normal. To my surprise, I still have ²⁰⁄₂₀ vision! YAY! However, I was prescribed reading glasses, a very low prescription. They have a beautiful optic right in their lobby, very convenient to get your prescription. They also offer many brand names as well.
I highly recommend the Eye Care Institute in Davie for yours and your family eye exam. It was a great experience from beginning to end.
