Budget Tree Service

I called Greg on Monday for an estimate and was pleasantly surprised at the rate. They came on Friday and removed 4 redwoods and one other tree. They were professional and cleaned up after themselves. Nothing was damaged and I was very happy with their work. I highly recommend them.

I live on a ¹⁄₃ acre pie-​shaped lot which has huge backyard with lots of trees. I call Budget Tree Service annually to trim and clean up multiple types of trees. I have a beautiful Japanese Maple that Greg is very knowledgable about and always takes great care of it personally. This is not your ordinary tree service if you just need something cut down & removed (although they do that too). Greg is an arborist who knows his trees! Services are very reasonably priced and I’ve always been happy with competed work.

We had a couple of trees that needed to be removed. We called for an appointment and Greg came out. He gave us a reasonable bid and we scheduled the work. Greg and his crew arrived on time and completed the job the same day. Work was done professionally and cleaned up so no extra work. We were happy with the job.

I Have 5 Birch trees in my from yard that have died this year and need them removed and stump grinned. I have had 3 or 4 different folks out and they were all within $ 100 of each other since it is fairly straight forward and the trees are not that big I called Budget after seeing their ad in the monthly Breeze advertising we get delivered. I received a recording which stated Greg would call back in half an hour. I left a message and he did call back later that day. Was polite and scheduled an appointment for the next day. He called about two hours after the set time, apologized saying he get caught up in another city on a big job. He was again very polite and we re scheduled for the following Monday. Again I received a call, this time from Bud I believe his name was (not Greg the owner) and said he couldn’t make it before 4PM when I had to leave but did come Wednesday morning. He looked at the trees and quoted me $ 400 per tree x 5 trees for $ 2,000. That is 4 times more, yes 4 times, than the other folks. Budget??? I don’t think so. Greg the owner is very polite and I have no reason to doubt the quality of their work since I obviously did not use. Perhaps he just didn’t want the job however if that is the case he should have said so. Will not be on my list to call for any other service nor will I recommend.
Update: Now 4 months have past and I did receive a message from the owner. He apologized that he was unable to personally come out and give an estimate due to (he did explain) some very personal family issues he had to deal with and said if he had came out he would have given a much more reasonable estimate. I appreciate the feedback from him tho it is really very late in the game.

Called for an appointment, guy was going to come by Monday (at his convenience) and call me that day with an estimate. It’s Friday, never heard back. Seems that businesses want your business but don’t want to actually do the work. Whatever, just won’t call them again. Moving on.
