The staff here is great, very friendly and accommodating! They’ll go out of their way to help out.
I’m on the second floor in a 2 bedroom apartment. The apartment quality is nice-​everything was clean when I moved in, but some repairs had to be done for the shower to work. The staff responded very promptly to fix what was needed and was super nice about it. My main problem is being able to hear my downstairs neighbor through the floor. The apartment is very spacious and has both a kitchen pantry and an extra closet for storage.
The general area is quiet and open with well-​kept landscaping. It’s fairly close to the train tracks, but they price apartments next to the tracks lower to compensate.
There’s a bus stop right next to the complex and it’s about a mile or two from downtown and some grocery stores. Parking is always available and there are amenities including a pool, small gym, clubhouse (where they make cookies every weekday!) and laundry room.
Overall I’ve been very happy to live here!

I did not clean my apartment when moving out because I was 7 months pregnant and my husband had to start his job elsewhere. I told them this and said to just keep the deposit.
They returned $ 290 out of $ 300

I love Cranbrook! I lived here for 2 years and never had any problems. The place is affordable for Davis and is a great place to live. There are a few different models of home to choose from and it is at a good location in Davis: the bus stop is nearby; there is shopping less than half a mile away; and the campus is about a ten minute bike ride away.
The good:
Has a really really nice pool and hot tub — that pool is always clean!
Nice study lounge
Convenient and upgraded workout room
Free parking for friends and family in the parking lot
Bug/​rodent free!
Additionally, the maintenance crew is the best ever. We had a few minor problems over the two years (internet electrical outlet being weird, a light switch was not working, etc) and the maintenance team was always on it within a few hours. Super friendly too, one of them actually helped me fix my bike once (Evon?).
Can’t go wrong with Cranbrook. I really liked living here and can’t toot their horns enough!!!

Never lived here, but I totally would if they had more bedrooms! I visited once when a friend had a party in the community room… and the pool was AMAZING! It was heated and had lights.

Truly, the best management I have ever seen. Very caring staff. They truly care about their residents’ happiness. Shari and Trish are both very sweet and willing to help.
As far as the apartment unit goes, it is beautiful inside! Very spacious, cozy and clean. The pool, gym, and laundry rooms are all very well kept and welcoming. I would recommend this apartment to anyone.

My boyfriend and I lived here for all three years while I was in law school. Even though there were places that were closer to campus, cheaper, or newer, we stuck with Cranbrook because the management is awesome.
When we first came to Davis for apartment hunting, Cranbrook was probably the fifth place we’d been to on an unbelievably hot July day. We’d never been to Davis before and didn’t know what to expect, but the housing assistant, Sara S. (who sadly is no longer there), really took her time to explain the housing market in Davis, the Davis Model Lease, Tandem, the DavisWiki, etc. She wanted to make sure that we didn’t get taken in, which was much appreciated.
Over the years, «Cranagement» has been fantastic. They never hesitate to take matters in hand when the music downstairs is too loud, or the sketchy behavior of two questionable neighbors is too much. (And really, only two sketchy people in all the time we were there is pretty good.) They do their best to keep the pool from becoming a «public» pool (gtfo, Pinecrest). Cranagement is always immediately responsive when there is an issue with the apartment (and it was always a rare occasion), and they always very specifically ask if they have permission to enter. They were more than willing to put packages inside our apartment when they were perishable or sensitive. The leasing office, gym, clubhouse, laundry, and pool are usually well kept and very clean. We never had a rodent/​pest problem, other than spiders that like to make lots of webs outside.
A couple months ago, a water main broke and the whole complex didn’t have water for a weekend. Cranagement and Tandem worked tirelessly with the city to fix the pipes. They brought in special bathroom and shower trailers for residents to use, which were actually pretty nice and not as awkward as it sounds. They even paid for some people’s hotel rooms and laundry in the meantime.
And have I mentioned the food? They provide free coffee/​tea, snacks, candy, and cookies in the leasing office. If you’re lucky enough to get a hold of some of Krissy’s lemonade, it’s amazeballs. They also have a free Thanksgiving dinner catered every year, which is delish. This past year, they’ve provided PB&Js and other snacky things during finals weeks as well.
We will miss this place and the superb management. Thanks for making our time in Davis so great!

I lived in Cranbrook Apartments for one year and it was a decent, quiet place to rent. I was surprised how mellow the atmosphere was for apartments full of college kids! They are pretty basic apartments, no bells and whistles, but then they are one of the cheaper places to rent in Davis. I did have a rat problem right after I moved in, but they came and fixed it a few days after filing a maintenance request. Overall, a good place to live with nice, friendly management.

I lived by myself here during senior year of college. It was okay. Nice to get away from nightmare roomies, but the guy that lived below me was constantly noisy and the neighbors next door were always yelling at each other and they had 3 small children that frequently sounded unhappy.
Aside from the neighbors, the management was pretty decent and they took care of my mouse problem quickly. Creeped me out though but I guess living in an older apartment you expect that. Also, the person that lived there before me can’t have cleaned the place very well because there were cat pee stains everywhere. Gross.

Cranbrook Apts… my first apartment, my first own room. I miss this place, I miss the college.
I lived here for my first year at UCD, it is actually pretty much a typical apt complex, but the place has sentimental value since it was my first crib and because of all the good memories.
The place is quiet, next to the UNITRAns bus line with the basic amenities: washer dryer, study lounge, small-​ass workout area, and a pool to cool off during the hot-​ass Davis summers. My only problem with the place was with the groundskeeper, he was a moron who constantly told me to turn down th volume.
I miss this place, I miss Davis I wish I never graduated… Go AGs!
