I will return again and again to Davis Shoe Shop, and recommend it to my friends. I was impressed with the quality of work, as well as the high level of customer service courtesy. The prices are reasonable and the jobs done very quickly. Recommended.

A few months ago, I finally accepted the fact that I needed to get my favorite shoes fixed because they looked quite awful. I was really nervous to take my *favorite* pair of shoes fixed, but Davis Shoe Shop did a fantastic job.
The owners are very friendly, talented, and detail oriented. They mixed up a special shoe polish for my shoes (which are a strange, metallic, and crackly texture), double checked if I wanted a bow stitched in place or not, and also double checked if I wanted the heels to be repainted.
My shoes look as good as new and I’d recommend them to anyone! The only «con» is that they have 2 week turnover because they have lots of shoes/​bags to repair, so make sure to plan ahead of time!

They’ve been repairing my shoes 18 years. They do great job always. It’s so hard to find a place repair shoes any more. We are so lucky to have them in town of Davis. Thank you!

Been trying to get shoes in and out of this place for too long now. Stated hours too often do NOT match reality. I wanted to shop @ a local establishment, but won’t next time. Also somewhat surprised I had to pay before the service. Maybe they’ve gotten stiffed too many times, so they had to go this route.
3+ week wait also seems excessive. Now 3 weeks are up and they closed early today. Hire a HS kid!!!

Went to this place to cut my belt to make it shorter. Owner tried to charge me $ 15. Because YOLO county only has two shoes repair shops, he just wants to charge sky high price for such easy job. $ 15 for cut the belt and punch two holes in 1 minutes?! More crazy thing is I need to wait 4 weeks for that. If you need to cut your belt, don’t go to this place, just go to TJMaX to buy a new one for less then $ 15. You can also get a hole puncher for $ 5-​$ 10 on Amazon. Since most shoe repair shop charge ZERO for cut belt, I give one star for this place. If you need to repair your shoes, Google repair shop in Sac.

I’m sad to have to give this place a poor rating.
After reading several reviews regarding the quality of work done at this establishment, I decided to bring some of my prized shoes here to be repaired. as a klutz, I brought in two pairs of my all time favorite shoes in to have their scuffed toes fixed. Everyone was lovely when I dropped off the shoes. The price to fix them was reasonable.
However, when I came to pick up the shoes, that is when the problem arose. It was not the repair work that upset me. In fact, the shoe repairs were spot on– the scuffs were fixed and my shoes looked nearly new. My issue with this establishment was the way they had tagged my shoes.
Instead of having a rubber band with a tag specifying the pick up time, owner information, etc, they had PUNCTURED the heel of my shoe, through and through, with a giant safety pin with the tag attached to it.
So now, I am sad to say, though I may have perfectly repaired shoes, that fact is now marred by the fact that I have a pair of shoes with a hole through the heel. I am deeply disappointed and upset because not only were these my favorite pair of flats, but also because they were not cheap when I purchased them. For an establishment that prides themselves on quality repair work, I was surprised how carelessly they tagged their customers shoes.

Went in to get a small piece of elastic sewn onto a sandal that had torn off. The woman quoted me $ 16.00. I could not believe it and told her the sandals only cost me $ 34 on sale so I was not going to pay $ 16. for the repair,(which would take all of 5 minutes)
She said well they must be cheap then. so I said I would go elsewhere. Basically from talking to friends and my own experience, this place is a ripoff, and they are rude.
Went to EMIL’S in Woodland on 3^rd and Main. cost me $ 3.00 for the sandal repair.
Just goes to show how expensive they are. and to boot they take 2 weeks to do a simple job at a crazy price.

Love this place. I have yet to have them do any major shoe repairs, but as far as I can gather, there’s little they aren’t able to do! And they are just so friendly. Went in today because I snapped the straps on my wedges (damn garage entrance incline) and the owner fixed it right then and there while chatting about allergies and tree rats.
For $ 12, it was well worth it – much more environmentally friendly than just tossing out an otherwise perfectly good pair of shoes.
Tip: they are all too happy to punch in additional holes for your shoe straps, leather belts, etc. for free. They’re just awesome like that.

I used to go to them a lot — not any more.
They’re okay for minor stuff (heels, etc.). Do not go to them for major stuff!
I took in a pair of expensive sandals/​slides that had come apart in the insole area. The woman said they could put a new insole in. When I got them back it was a cream color leather (vinyl?) — the shoes were black. It looked like it had been cut with cuticle scissors by a 5 year old. Then it had been glued in place, but not all the way to the edge. They charged me about $ 40. I put them in the trash when I got home. I would have been embarrassed to wear them.

Excellent! I had abused the stilettos of my favorite pair of cuffed boots such that the heel tip was completely gone such that the metal pin was exposed and part of the actual heel was rubbing against the concrete. The bottom of the heel was ragged and I feared that even if I were to have the heel tip replaced, it would look shabby.
Not so! I am so thankful that we have this gem of a shop in little olé Davis. I walked in and the owners’ very tame pooch, Flower, came from behind the counter to greet me. CUTE! Cherese is a very nice lady – very pleasant demeanor.
I’m getting off track. I paid when I brought the shoes in and Cherese handed me a pick-​up slip. I had to wait 4 weeks to get my shoes back, and I thought to myself, «arghh, just to replace the heel tips?!»
However, I picked them up today and they did a spectacular job with the heels. The fabric encircling the heel was no longer frayed and was sealed up so nicely, you would have thought they were brand new!
Wonderful, wonderful.

I bought a pair of cowboy boots in Arkansas and unfortunately the shaft of the boot was the only part that didn’t fit right. Come to find all boots fit me that way. I called around all shoe repair places and they told me with cowboy boots, the shaft couldn’t be taken in. Last place i called was Davis Shoe Shop. They said «of course we can, bring them in!» I brought in my boots and the man who was going to be taking in the shaft (hand sewing them) had me put them on and measured how much was to come off. I came back a few weeks later and they fit perfectly! I couldn’t be happier. I will be bringing in my next pair as well. A little pricey, but well worth it.

Glad to have a old school shoe repair shop here in my hometown. I’ve had shoe heels replaced and other minor repairs done over time, but just the other day I needed another notch put into my belt — he he. No really, I just needed another hole punched because my belt was looking really sloppy and I was on my way to an event. I called ahead because I was in a hurry, and within seconds of getting there I had the new notch and I was off to my event and looking much more stylin’. AND there was no charge! It really showed me how much they care about their long time customers. I will always be a loyal customer of the Davis Shoe Shop!

I had an amazing pair of black heels. Past tense. Unfortunately, the perfect heels were rendered unwearable one hot summer day when the molten street asphalt goo swallowed my heel tip. Damn road pulled it right off.
Fast forward a few weeks to when I decide that I must repair, not throw out, the perfect heels. They are my power heels– I must return them to their prior glory.
I saw Davis Shoe Shop’s positive reviews. I swung by and left the perfect heels in their expert hands. My sad shoes were fixed, polished, and buffed by Davis Shoe Shop. All is well below my ankles once again. This is now my go-​to shoe repair shop. Thanks Unilocalers!

Let me tell you about the recent decision I came to regarding single-​serving shops and being bomb diggity: single serving shops are the bomb diggity.
Ever since I started to wear nicer-​than-​sneakers shoes as everyday wear, I’ve felt a bit guilty about not giving them the proper care they deserve. Soles wear to nothing. Leather whines under the rain. Laces snap. Sorry, guys. So, finally, I come to this shoe repair shop – which I would have never known existed except that Shuz (which, to my dismay is clearly pronounced «shooz» and not «shuhs» as I had been doing) didn’t carry laces. As soon as I walk in, I’m blinded by a wall literally full of shoe laces. Luckily for me, being a single-​serving shop, the cobbler/​proprietor (I assume) could tell from looking down at my broke-​ass shoes exactly what laces I needed, and then spent five minutes carefully color-​matching a correct polish for them, and explaining how I should be treating them.
I love it! Just try to find that kind of service at a big box store, or even a chain shoe store. I can’t say I often find myself in need of expert shoe advice, but believe me, this is where I’ll go for it.

This place is great! They will fix your shoes, purses, briefcases etc…
The strap on my laptop/​briefcase snapped and I did not want to shell out $ 100+ for another once. especially since I have only had the current one for a few months.
I brought it to see if it could be repaired and they only charged me $ 20. You do have to pay upfront when you drop your items off but this is very common with shoe and leather repair business.
I picked my briefcase back up two weeks later and it looked great. He replaces the leather part that had the strap attachment with a canvas material that matches the rest of the briefcase. I was glad that he replaced both sides instead of just the broken on in case the other side went out as well.
The hours here are pretty limited — they are closed Sunday and Monday and they close at 3 pm the rest of the time.
