Established in 2009.

Downtown Davis Massage and Wellness is the natural expansion of the massage therapy practice started by Lily Starling, NCMT, in 2009 in Davis, CA. Due to our high standards and clinical excellence, we continue to attract clients who are seeking solutions to ongoing health concerns. Our therapists’ styles are consistently deep, slow, and relaxing.

I have been in practice as a massage therapist going on 7 years (can’t believe it!) and from the beginning my focus has been on pain and stress relief. As a lifelong recipient of massage therapy, I know the frustration that comes from feeling like you just wasted your money and time on a fluffy, ineffective massage.

In our practice, I and the other therapists focus on using your feedback to find the perfect pressure to relieve pain, and we always welcome your feedback. We are also committed to your relaxation, so we stay quiet unless you want to talk. I’m sure we’re very interesting people, but that’s not why you came in for a massage, right?

When I’m not giving massage to the best clientele in North America (so far as I’m concerned) I’m usually reading or getting massage myself. I call it research.

I was hoping to see Bonnie or Iris since they have such great reviews, but seeing Angelica was a huge blessing. I just found out I have tendinitis in my foot/​ankle. I was feeling a bit frustrated and hopeless about my healing process because my injury started in Feb with a ‘sprain’ then the doctors thought it was a ‘stress fracture’ when the ‘sprain’ didn’t heal and after the ‘fracture’ didn’t heal, the doctors ordered and MRI and found the tendinitis. I’d been trying to come up with a healing game plan and realized with my leg muscles so tight, the tight muscles were likely stressing the injured tendon. Angelica to the rescue! I saw her for a 90 minute therapeutic massage. She really loosened up my tight legs and gluts with very skilled hands and this technique called cupping. Cupping, a Chinese way to loosen connective tissue/​fascia, was new to me. It was intense but I could instantly feel great results. Then she went back to deep tissue (she didn’t call it that but it felt deep), and at each painful spot of the muscle that connected to my injured tendon, she released the muscle as I worked on mobilizing my foot better. Doing that I had better range of motion than I’ve had in months, and without hurting myself. This was exactly what I needed to getting my healing on track! She also found tight spots I didn’t know I had elsewhere, and helped an old car accident injury in my back, shoulders and neck. So much progress in so little time. I also appreciated her advice for self care (specific supplements, lots of water, what body parts I could roll safely, strengthening). She has a great personality on top of it all. I will definitely be a regular to ensure she is a part of my healing.

Made an appointment 2:30am in the morning for my next day 2:00pm massage for Angelica. She was very friendly and helpful. I explained to her my back issues/​pains, she took it with consideration and introduced me to different techniques and ways to stretch for the future. Definitely coming back!

I have been here twice now and Bonnie is great! The massages are gentle, yet effective. She is very concerned about how much pressure is good for you and will ask so I appreciate that. The setting is very peaceful and pleasant, calming music, good temperature in the room. The oil or lotion she uses is great because it doesn’t have a scent to it and it doesn’t leave me feeling all greased up afterward. I would recommend her to anyone looking for a relaxing massage. Iris did a great job on my sore neck and lower back. She was good about asking about the pressure but not too much talking which is good since I was focusing on my breathing! Great massage and some good tips for home care on my neck!

I was given a massage here as a gift, so yesterday I met Iris for the first time for an hour-​long massage. It was a really, really good massage! I have a regular masseuse at another spa that sees me every couple weeks, so I rarely try anyone new. That’s gonna change! I plan to go back to Iris on alternating weeks as often as I can.
First, she is such a calming presence. She took a very caring attitude with me, asked lots of questions and REALLY LISTENED to my answers and then actually INCORPORATED all that into my very therapeutic yet relaxing massage.
When I left, I felt better than I have in a long time. Iris is very good at what she does and you can tell she really loves her work and cares about her clients. I highly recommend Iris for your next massage!

I want to add to my old review to mention my recent massage with Bonnie. Her hands are filled not just with skill but with kindness and compassion and my massage with her was a sacred experience. Wow. This place is seriously amazing, its tucked away on G street in a little house and is very cute inside. Bonnie was my massage therapist today and she was helping me with a back injury I suffered at work plus some tightness in the muscles in my back, neck and shoulders. I don’t remember the last time I was THAT relaxed, it was such a calming relaxing experience and I could feel my tight muscles releasing and when our session was done my whole back feels so much better, she is seriously amazing! Highly recommend this business as well as Bonnie as an excellent massage therapist.

Bonnie was very good, understood the pains I was having and was able to massage the source of the pain as well. Soothing music and a warm, relaxing environment had me on the verge of napping I was so relaxed! An hour almost didn’t feel like enough, I may go for a 90 minute session next time to really get some in depth work on my lower back!

Called and asked if I could purchase a gift certificate in store rather than printing one online. She offered to send me something printed on Christmas paper in the mail as they do not have actual gift certificates other than plain printed ones. I was really pleased that she was willing to go out of her way but declined her offer. She said people did very neat things with them it’s just a matter of making sure they can tell it’s a gift certificate from them. :) here’s hoping the person receiving this gift will enjoy it!!!

Iris gave me an extremely deep tissue massage for an issue in my back and it felt great. She was considerate when I told her it was too painful in spots and changed it up.
The room itself is neat and clean and there’s nice, soothing music playing.
I will 100% be back for another massage in the future!

I had a one hour massage with Bonnie. First, this was one of the most effective massages I’ve ever received. Bonnie is very receptive about your needs, and I felt that she has a true healer’s energy. Her intuition for pressure is excellent, and I felt amazingly good after the session.
Second, I believe a lot of other factors play into a good therapeutic massage session and they were all present here. The room is lovely, the colors are warm, no outside noises penetrate the room, and Bonnie is nearly silent as she moves around. All of these things let you fall into a truly serene state.

Best massage I’ve ever had. Katie was great; she politely asked me about the pressure until she was applying the perfect amount.
Also, the online sign-​up is easy to use and there were several available spots for the next day.
I would definitely go back and would recommend it.
