Midtown Animal Clinic

I had to get my babygirl put to sleep because of the many problems that she had. While I’m sobbing and holding her in my arms as she’s taking her last breaths, the girl from the front desk comes in and asks me THREE times how I’m going to be paying for this visit today. I wasn’t given even two minutes with my baby. My baby didn’t even get to die to peace thanks to this horribly trained staff member.

I take both of my cats here and they always do a great job with both advice and care for my kitties!

This is the absolute best primary care hospital in Davis and the surrounding areas. I have dealt with almost every doctor and really felt great about all of them. They are also so flexible about working in cohort with the UC Davis Teaching Hospital which is really helpful. I always recommend my friends to go here.

Love this place! They always provide the best service for my dog. All the vets that have helped my dog there have been fantastic. Although I live in Sacramento now, I will still continue to go to this vet for my dog. Thank you for everything you have done for my little Mango!

My dog has been a client of Midtown clinic for many years and they have been great taking care of him. Doesn’t hurt that he never gets sick. I have had one issue with a clinic, which is debatable as to actually being an issue. We moved to SoCal for a bit and for the drive back to NorCal I wanted to pick up some sedative from Midtown clinic, as the dog tends to howl non-​stop on a long drive due to anxiety. The clinic informed me that since it’s been over the year since the dog has been seen by a vet, they cannot issue any pills, and I should seek out another clinic in SoCal. Which was unfortunate, since I did not want to take him to some random vet in SoCal just to get the sedatives to move him back north. So we just drove for 8 hours with a whiny dog instead. Ideally, I would have liked for the clinic to issue some meds in advance and then schedule a physical. I don’t know how flexible clinics can be on this subject, but I felt that the clinic that truly cared, would have been more understanding.
Having said this, I have also recently adopted a cat and just took him in for one free physical exam that they honor if you adopt a pet from a local shelter, which is really a sweet deal. Naturally, I will continue taking my dog and cat here as they do a fine job taking care of them.

I’ve taken my cat here for 5 years and have been very satisfied. All of the vets and vet techs are friendly and kind to the animals, and I like the bright, cheerful décor. The parking lot is a bit crammed, but I’m always able to find a spot. My cat has fortunately had very few health problems, so I’ve only taken him in for annual check ups and teeth cleanings. I’m moving out of town soon and will miss coming here.

Amazing I could have found a better vet. Doctor Reagan came highly recommended from friends and dog sitting clients. I have a 9 year old giant schnauzer who seems to be getting all his breed issues at once. My last vet was terrible but I called because after 6 weeks of no change in toe I was told it might be cancer and the other vet wanted to charge me around 3,000 for everything. When I called midtown even though I’m new they put me on the waiting list for Saturday which is only a partial day. And got me in. Midtown was half the price and much more reasonable. Clyde also loves them there which is almost more important. We’ll it was cancer and they helped get him in less then a week and he’s recovering we’ll. doctor Reagan is even so kind as to take time out her time off to double check on Clyde.
I love this hospital (all the staff is amazing) and as long as I live in the area and doctor Reagan is there all current and future pets will go there.

I have to say that this was one of the best experiences that I have had at a veterinarians office.
We have a chocolate lab who loves to eat rocks. This is his third visit to the vet in his 3+ years and my two other times were to the VCA emergency hospital.
Not only did midtown take us without an appointment, they did not treat us like a cash ATM as VCA did.
We were warmly received and our veterinarian, and Dr. Reagan was extremely helpful and called several time to give us status and even checked on him at 9:30 at night to make sure he was comfortable after the surgery.
I can’t over stress the warmth and comfort we felt here. Additionally, while the VCA facility was huge, they charged us over 4k for the same surgery, which this facility did for far less and the other place charged over 1000 in fees not associated with actual patient care.
Midtown was worth every penny!

These people act like your best friend. But they’re actually acting like government agents. If you take your dog in here for vaccination (i.e., rabies) they will forward a report to the Yolo County Sheriff’s Office, resulting usually in a bill for not paying the Sheriff’s Office exorbitant yearly fees. Thanks for nothing bozos. Next time I’m taking my animal to Dixon (Solano County).

This place is great. I was so sad when I had to move across the country and find a new vet hospital :(I’ve seen several different veterinarians with three different dogs and they’ve all been exceedingly professional and patient, and were extremely friendly with both me and my dogs. Couldn’t recommend this place enough! :)

I can’t say enough good things about Midtown Animal Clinic. I was in California for a week visiting my elderly mother when my dog was injured. Even though I wasn’t a regular client they were able to fit me in for an appointment and address his injuries. The front desk staff were extremely compassionate and cheerful, the technicians were professional and helpful, and both doctors I saw were skillful and extremely kind. The building and décor is also terrific! I had expected to be referred to a local emergency hospital but they managed to work me in for which we are so grateful (I know my own veterinarian back home can’t always do this on busy days!) Thanks for working so hard and for such great care!

Impersonal front desk staff and average doctors.
I have brought my dog in for several visits over the past 2 years. The staff have always been impersonal. They don’t know us or our dog. They are too busy to answer any questions or even let us know if our dog is up to date on his vaccines when I have called. The doctors have been nice but if something requires more thought or understanding, I feel they lack the experience. I plan on switching my dog over to the South Davis vet. I have heard great things about their doctors and staff and they seem to have much better hours of service and appointment availability.

Having just moved to Davis 4 years ago, Previously we had only taken 2 of our 3 dogs to Midtown for check-​ups and shots. Our 3^rd Pup (Mamas Favorite) Libby continued to be driven into Sacramento to our long time vet (For 15 years) That was until this week when our Little libby began to not act right. The staff had No appointments the day we called but we were told to bring in libby and she would be seen. Our baby girl has a very bad infection and was beginning to show signs of being septic. The Doctor immediately put her on antibiotics and scheduled an appointment the next morning for surgery. To say that we were a bit concern would be a massive understatement and The staff could sense that upon dropping her off. They explained exactly what they were going to do and how much it would cost. They explained that Libby should be out of surgery around 1230. At 1225 we were called and informed that libby was still in surgery and should be in recovery around 1:00. 1255 The staff again called To inform us that Libby did great and was not in recovery and They would like to keep an IV in her as long as possible. Knowing the way we were feeling they suggested that we pick up Libby around 8−9pm and take her home. So she could be with us and us with her. They could have easily suggested another night there but They truly were more concerned with our pups comfort and our peace of mind. Absolute best vet I’ve ever taken my animals to. My husband and I currently have 2 dogs and 1 cat and we trust all of them to the staff at Midtown.
The staff is excellent and extremely knowledgeable. Dr Gravem is also experienced in surgery for large breed dogs and because we had a Great Dane/​St Bernard mix that was a big concern but he came through and performed 2 separate surgeries on my baby perfectly.
This year we lost our big dog to lymphoma. We did try chemo but it was unsuccessful. It was heartbreaking but the staff at Midtown was so incredible, they took all of my many, many phone calls without complaint, saw my dog whenever I needed and when it was time to put her down they were understanding and so sympathetic. We got a card a week or so after putting her down that I think was signed by almost everyone in the office.
We got a puppy a little while later and needless to say she will be receiving all of her care at Midtown.
When I originally started going to Midtown I worked in Davis and that made them very convenient. I have since taken a new job and live in Fairfield so it is no longer convenient but it’s only a 45 minute drive and I will be making it because the care our animals receive is worth it.

I agree with another Unilocaler named LD S. on Midtown animal clinic being an animal medical care office that can be impersonal many times. But in my experience when I called last Monday June 9 to make a same day appt for my cat that was lethargic and hiding under a bush, I was told there were no available appt. times that day and there was an opening to see a vet on Thursday. No one offered to take my name and number down to call if there is a last minute cancellation… this is where it gets impersonal.
I’m sorry but I don’t think my sick cat can hold out over 3 days.
I went to another vet clinic located next to the Nugget market in the Oak Tree plaza.
I got a same day AM appt for that Monday and I called at 915am.
I have 4 pets and ²⁄₄ pets are still patients at Midtown clinic but the way the office is being managed I might spend my hard earned money at another animal clinic.
I thought if the new and bigger Midtown clinic is built… more appointments can be made and perhaps in case of an emergency maybe one of the many doctors (I think there are 5 to 6 vets) can spend 15 – 30 mins out of their schedule to see a sick pet… I didn’t mind waiting for 2 hours.

Everyone here is really nice. I’ve always been seen on time, and the price is reasonable fit a vet office. They also offer advice over the phone if you’re having an issue with your pet.

Dr. Gravem is very skilled at what he does and is a great veterinarian, albeit lacking a little bedside manner.
He took us in as new clients (needing surgery for our high-​maintenance cat) with very short notice and since then has always squeezed us in when we need it. The visits are usually short and sweet, and my wallet only screams a little when it’s time to pay the bill.
They have Saturday hours which is nice, and the building is new and modern with plenty of parking. Every time we visit there are happy clients in the waiting room (aside from the occasional hissing cat) and the staff always greets us with smiles.
I have referred many friends and family here due to how well they accommodate their clients and how reasonable their prices are. I always feel like our cat is in good hands and trust the care we get here.
I’m happy we made the switch to Midtown, it’s the cat’s meow.

I was first recomended to this vet back in 2007 when my cat stopped eating for the second time in two years. The first place i took her (in woodland) lost all her medical records and wanted to redo everything including blood work. Their estimate was over 1k!
Midtown animal clinic ended up costing me under $ 400 with blood work and teeth pulling all done. Turned out she had feline aids and they were super nice about it! The next time i went (over a year later for my new doggies shots) they even asked first thing if everything was okay with her passing and if my family took it okay and if there was anything they could do to help. I had to let them know she was still alive because they pulled her teeth for her and let me know exactly what was going on and how i could help her!
I only use this vet now and their prices are very reasonable compared to everyone else, and for the work and explinations they give, it’s really cheap!

I paid $ 42 for the vet to tell me that my dog is fine and healthy when in all actuality she was throwing up all day for the past few days and gets shivers every morning.
Sorry but the guy at petco told me more about what could be wrong with her than the vet did. He was the one who recommended I make an appointment with the vet.
I called the vet 2 days later to tell them that there is still something wrong with her because she has not stopped vomiting and they told me to bring her in for another exam for another $ 42. No thanks, I’d rather go back to petco.
