So we were going to grab some Korean short ribs at manna but it was closed so we decided to stop by here. I was a bit hesitant about it being a Mexican Korean fusion and walking in the restaurant reek of oil. It was pretty unpleasant so I wanted to do take out or just leave but the bf wanted to eat in… So we did. Any how we ordered the garlic fries, rice bowl with short ribs, and the Korean tofu stew. Garlic fries were drenched in oil. It was seasoned well and the garlic wasn’t overwhelming. The fries would had been good if it wasn’t soaked in oil. Bf liked them but I couldn’t try more than a few. Btw the air in the place was slightly smokey from how oily the air was, it was that bad. Bf only took a few bits of the rice bowl, the short ribs is sliced so not the typical short ribs. Purple sauce is sweet, must have raspberries in it. He didn’t like this dish. I tried a bit of the purple sauce and meat and I though the meat was flavorful but yea the purple sauce probably wasn’t needed. The tofu stew was ok. Not great but not bad either. It was spicy but not as flavorful as it could be. But I give points for it being spicy. Overall: atmosphere −1÷5 Fries 3⁄5 Tofu stew 3.5÷5

The first time come to this place. I thought these Korean style toco is something new to try. But they are not good compare to Mexico toco at all. And sauces are too sweet as well. The Chicken wings are very dry, and over fried, too sweet as well. The Tofu soup is just okay compare to other Korea Resturant. The service is good and fast though. Not coming back again.

This unpretentious Korean fusion place has some of the best food in Davis. Their seating area is always mostly empty and consists of some booths that don’t offer much conversational privacy. There’s little in the way of ambiance and the service is friendly, but perfunctory. But I can’t give less than five stars for the food. I highly recommend the bao($ 3.50 for one or something like $ 8.00 for three). Pork belly is really tender and the whole thing melts in your mouth. The kimchi fried rice($ 7.95) is absolutely delicious, and not one bite was left in the bowl. Of course, the main menu involves picking a meat(bulgogi is pretty good; there are vegetarian options too) and a way to serve it: burrito, tacos, rice bowl, salad bowl, nachos, or over fries. You really can’t go wrong here, and it pretty much depends on how intent you are on clogging your arteries. They also drizzle on mysterious creamy sauces that work magically well with anything you might order. Definitely one of the best Asian food spots in town — and it doesn’t hurt that it’s inexpensive, too!

When I first heard of this place, I was extremely anxious to try it out. Korean infused Mexican, that sounds pretty interesting and legit! I tried coming twice but the hours posted on Unilocal is misleading so on my third attempt I was finally able to try this place out. When we first walked in, it was completely empty. It seemed like a very nice place to just grab a late night snack and plus they had plenty of board games and not to mention a foosball table! Pretty lights was strung across the ceiling, cool wooden stalls and their kpop music playlist was bomb haha! We ordered 2 orders of 3 tacos: one order of 3 bulgogi tacos, 1 pulled pork and 2 spicy bulgogi. The guy who took our order gave us some suggestions… we originally wanted 3 pulled pork but he said that nobody ever finished it bc it was just too sweet. Now I know why! It’s not that it was too sweet and that they couldn’t finish it… they couldn’t finish it bc it wasn’t good at all. I expected the most out of the bulgogi tacos bc I’m a huge fan of it but the bulgogi from this place was mediocre. I wasn’t a fan of it at all. It wasn’t the most enjoyable and I won’t hype this at all. I finally decided to Unilocal the place out which I regret, I should’ve done this before. I probably won’t ever come back.

I was excited to try Tako’s because of the reviews, but my first visit was disappointing. I got the daegi(pork) bulgogi pasta and I would not recommend it. It was fettuccine pasta, bell peppers, pork bulgogi in a sauce that tasted like it contained nacho cheese. I get that it’s fusion cuisine, but nacho cheese would just be low. The bulgogi was also mediocre. No bueno. As for the set up, it was kind of confusing. You seat yourself, a server comes to take your order and you pay at the register when you’re done with the meal. I’ll have to give it to them that the staff was friendly, and they have board games to keep you entertained during the meal. If the average rating for this place is 3.5 stars, I probably ordered the wrong thing. Learn from my mistake and stick to the tacos, people. I’m going to stand by my 2 stars for now.

Mediocre Execution. The service and the environment was great but the food? Not so much. I ordered a burrito with bulgogi, garlic fries and kimchi. All my food items were mediocre, nothing great really stood out from the food. nothing tasted remotely above average. My burrito meat came out way too sweet and my fries were really bland. Would I eat here again? Probably not. On the plus side this place seems like it would be a great hangout spot. There is an outdoorsy backyard theme with board games for customers to play.

My boyfriend, 7 year old niece, and I decided to try this place out. Entering the place you’re immediately greeted which was a plus because it makes the place feel welcoming. I was starving and excited to try out the place especially their food so I did order a lot of food. Probably more than I can take. Altogether we ordered seafood tofu soup and added Ramen noodles, the 3 tacos, nachos, tako bulgogi fries, garlic fries, and bao. The waiter was very helpful also as he was helping us figure out certain dishes. To kill the waiting time we took advantage of the games/game boards and Foosball table. After we sat down and waited for our food to arrive. After 40+minute and the waiter seeing we didn’t have any of our orders yet he apologized and checked. We finally got our first order out which was the seafood tofu Ramen noodle soup. My niece was getting hungry and impatient. Another 20 or so min pass by got my 3 taco and my niece was def starving and getting frustrated as to where her nachos and garlic fries were. Of course waiting for so long we were hungry and finished the orders that we got. 10 min later got our Tako fries and nachos. 6 min or so got our bao. I believe the garlic fries were forgotten until I mentioned it to the waiter for them to put it togo. By the time we got the rest of the order we were full. People that came after us all left because they recurve their orders so I thought that was odd. So I didn’t get to try the bao(3 I ordered) nor the bulgogi Tako fries, and my niece didn’t get to try the garlic fries. We packed everything else togo. The waiter of course continually apologized, agreeing it should not have taken that long for our order. Therefore most of the dishes were on the house. Our order was pretty big for just 3 people so I was happy that our bill can’t to about $ 24.64. Myself knowing the waitressing life I tipped the waiter $ 11 because he checked up on us and kept going back. So thank you to our waiter. The food was good, place is good, waiters are good, just the wait is horrible. I hope they will fix that problem. Other than that my first experience of the taco place wasn’t so good. I hope my next visit is better.

My girlfriend and I are always finding new places to eat. This is a really good one in both of our opinions. My girlfriend is in love with the Kimchi fried rice but i wasn’t crazy over it. The tacos were my favorite, I just didn’t really like the purple sauce on top. The fries were good. Large amount of food for a fair price. Will return again!

UPDATE9÷30÷15 ITHASBEENOVERTWOWEEKSANDMYMONEYHASSTILLNOTBEENRETURNEDORANYWORDFROMTAKO. I now am involving my bank. — — — — — – Screw you TAKO. I was a regular and wrote a positive review for them in the past but they really made me upset with a recent event. First of all, beware about using any kind of debit or credit card here and check your statements for past visits. I noticed I for sure got double charged for a seafood pancake, as I only had it once at TAKO. I came in with a complete copy of my bank statement to show them that I was double charged and they actually confirmed that there has been an error with their machine reading cards with chips and that it has happened to others. NOAPOLOGY whatsoever. Just an explanation that it was the machine’s fault. They wouldn’t even give me my money back, just told me that they’d look into it with the company and I’d get my money back in possibly in 2 weeks. The money that I shouldn’t have had taken from me in the first place. I know it was technically the machine’s fault, but they weren’t apologetic at all about it. I recently moved towards the bay but come through Davis and Sacramento often. I was actually going to get my regular, soondubu jjigae during this visit, but considering how poorly they handled the situation, I walked out and went elsewhere and won’t be coming back anymore. I called them right after I left to see if they could look up another transaction that I thought might have been charged in mistake. When I was on the phone, mid conversation, the guy just started having a conversation with someone else in the background without even telling me to hold on. RUDE. Goodbye TAKO. Will wait to get my money back.

YASSSS! I love how they finally have Korean fusion in Davis! They have this Chipotle style menu. You can either choose: for $ 7.99 Burrito Tacos(3) Bowl Nachos(MUSTGET) Tako fries(MUSTGET) And then you choose your meat: Bulgogi Dak(Chicken) bulgogi Kalbi $ 2 extra Slow cooked pork And a few more I don’t remember. I got their nachos and rice bowl, and the nachos are more worth getting their rice bowl. Their marinated sauce is sweet! Which I love, though it was too sweet for my dad. So I can’t really speak for everyone’s preference Also, they dont only have Korean Fusion, they have authentic korean food as well. Will come back to try their seafood pancake. Cheers!

A great place to hang out and enjoy Korean/Mexican fusion as well as traditional Korean dishes. This location is bigger than Sac even functions as a bar with daily food specials. All of the meats are pretty solid, my favorites include the marinated chicken and spicy pork. You can choose to eat them in a burrito, tacos, rice bowl, or salad. I’ve tried the fried chicken which is humongous and can be shared with three, duck baos(delicious!), and chicken wings(avoid). The traditional korean food is also good, the soondobu was slightly overseasoned but still delicious and the bibambap was solid. Other pluses: the service is usually great, hipster decorations, wifi, board games, alcohol and very clean and hip restrooms. Solid food in an even better setting!

Great service & food! Their menu is unique & Jessica recommended the bao. It was delicious and pretty filling. Their salsa and chips are super good too! It’s creamier than regular salsa. The seating is cute with wooden booths and chairs. There are stringed lights and it makes the place cozier. They do have alcohol here if you’re interested in that!

I like that they turned this place into a more sit-down type of restaurant with the wooden partitions. I attended a late-night event here a while back and it still felt very open and bar-like. The meat here is not so great, because it tastes too processed, like it has too much marinade or it has been sitting there for too long. I got the kalbi salad and although I’m a huge fan of Tako’s purple sauce, they tend to put too much, so I asked for it on the side for me to drizzle on myself. I also ordered a bao, the big one instead of the small ones. The pork belly was perfection. Slightly messy and oily, but still pretty delicious.

I was pretty excited about this place when I first came to Davis. It seemed like the chipotle of Korean food. However, I didn’t like the quality of the meat. It seemed very processed. The taste was bland to me, didn’t have that Korean spice to it. Their chicken wings were pretty good though and friendly service.

Americanized Korean food is not Korean food :( I came here around 9pm last Friday, on the way up to Sacramento. There were only 4 other customers in the restaurant. We ordered the tacos and kimchi fried rice. The tacos are meh. The bulgogi is all wrong, and it was too chewy. The insides of the chicken were still slightly pink. The kimchi fried rice tasted sour. I have never tasted one like this before, but it was not good for my taste buds. Sorry!

Neat place that serve yummy Korean-Mexican fusion food. They also have board games for you to play while you wait for the food, which actually takes a while because there is only like three people total, two in the kitchen and one working the cashier. I ordered the bulgogi rice bowl and it was delicious! I love rice and this dish was yummy. There was veggies and some purple sauce and other stuff but it all tasted yummy. Their BulGoGi fries are good too. A big portion on the fries too, and may take long cause they do each batch separately. Their tacos are a lot smaller than before and they do not do the fish taco deals on Friday anymore. The burrito looks good too, it’s a burrito version of the rice bowl. There is a variety of meat you can choose from to get it in the burrito, rice bowl, Fries, or tacos. Best place to check out if you’re ever in Davis. A bit of wait on food but nothing games can’t fix!

I’ve been meaning to check the one in Sacramento out, but luckily, they opened one in Davis. There’s not many Korean restaurants in the Vacaville/Davis/Sacramento area unless you go to Citrus Heights area. My friend treated me to a Pork Belly Bao, and it was pretty tasty! For ~$ 3.50 it pretty worth it since it’s a good size. I haven’t dined-in and ordered korean food, that will be next time. There’s a TV playing Korean music videos. Parking is relatively easy.

Tako is like Chipotle married a Korean restaurant. I like fusions like that. :) I ordered the bulgogi fries, which was HUGE. Great for college kids(not that I am one anymore) because I ate it as two meals. Lots of meat and sauce on the fries. However, the fries were not crispy… which is unfortunate because it would have tasted better if it was. The wait time wasn’t that bad either. If I lived in Davis again, I would come here often because of the price and portion. Also, this place great for people that can’t make up their minds if they want Mexican or Korean food. :)

Stopped by here after having dessert at Lazi Cow(yes, I said after) when we noticed«kimchi fried rice» on their chalkboard outside on the sidewalk! I have had a few variations of kimchi fried rice, so I wanted to try theirs. We were the only customers on a Sunday night, but we had to wait a little bit… but that’s okay because they made it fresh! We spent our time playing on their free foosball table which was cool. They also have board games and play sports games and Korean music videos on their television screens. The kimchi fried rice was delicious! It was only $ 5.99, and almost the same size as a Chipotle burrito bowl. I wish I would’ve added bulgogi, it would’ve been perfect. The fried rice comes topped with cheese, and on top of a bed of cabbage slaw which I thought was different, but definitely added great texture. Unfortunately it doesn’t come with an egg like most kimchi fried rice that I’ve had, but we were taking it to-go anyway so we just made eggs at home. Great deal, great taste, great service. I have a Tako located closer to home but if I was in the area, I would consider eating here again!
