Tipsy Taxi

They take you everywhere but home. This guy has been driving all over the damn place in the opposite direction of our house. If they have other people to pick up, they’ll pick them up and drop them off first. We had a whole 30 minute ride with other people puking and they would not take us home until the other people got dropped off. I would much rather take an Über or lyft.

How isn’t Tipsy Taxi super gangster? It’s a great service, granted it’s kinda nerfed now (they actually check for UCD idea, and it’s 2 bucks, and it has to go from a unitrans stop to a unitrans stop)
Back in the day some of my buddies used it get across town when they were hammered (and from Davis not going to Davis)
Not five stars cause it may get super busy, dispatchers may take a bit

I definitely loved Tipsy Taxi when I didn’t have a car nor was I drunk, but just needed transporation. Way cheaper than a cab, and there is no creepy factor — just students help students, yo.
Minus one star because it does get busy and sometimes they take a while to get through. There have been times that my drunk ass has not been able to connect and had to get home another route.
As of 2007 I believe, due to cuts, they only are available Friday & Saturday nights now. And they only run from 10pm-​2am. Sadness.

Never had to use it but great idea for campuses. We just walked but this is great for campuses to consider…

The idea of Tipsy Taxi is great. It’s safe and convenient, sort of, when you’re too drunk or too poor to get yourself home any other way. You don’t even have to be drunk!
Gasp! Prices went up! It used to be only $ 1 a ride, no matter where in Davis you were going. Still very cheap. Program that number into your phone!
To add something that hasn’t been said already, though, if it’s a busy night, prepare to wait a long time for them to come pick you up. They pick you up in the van when they’re close to your area, and they drop you off in order, so it can take a while to get to your destination, too.
Remember: «Tipsy Taxi runs Thursday through Saturday, during the academic school year, from 9pm to 2am. During the summer, Tipsy Taxi runs Thursday and Friday from 9pm to 2am.»

many a davis student knows about the elusive tipsy taxi. it’s thursday night, or friday night, or saturday night, you’re totally plastered, and you need a ride because you’re too lazy to walk and you’re definitely too far gone to hop on your paul frank cruiser to bike your inebriated ass home, much less know where you parked your beloved paul frank cruiser.
