History

Established in 1970.

The Bockrath family has a long history of customer service and flooring expertise in the Dayton area. With 2 generations in the business and over 50 years in the industry, Bockrath Flooring and Rugs is the premier, proven retailer for carpet, rugs and flooring.

In 1925, Vic Bockrath Sr. entered the business and by the time he was 21 years old became the flooring manager for Rike Kumler Co. He became a specialist in the field. In 1955, he started his own company, averaging 10 to 15 repairs a week. He taught his sons Vic Jr. and Ed the skills of the trade. In 1970, Vic Jr. and Ed opened their first storefront at 1924 Brown Street next to the Pine Club.

Known for high quality carpet and superior workmanship the business grew, expanding to its present day location at 5557 Far Hills Ave. In 1994, Vic Jr.‘s son Doug joined the venture and became store manager, expanding the flooring department.
