History

Established in 1824.

First Baptist Church of Dayton was founded on May 29, 1824 — only 19 years after the city itself was incorporated.

Meet the Business Owner

The Rev. Dr. Rodney K.

Business Owner

Dr. Kennedy came to FBC Dayton on July 10, 2002. A native of Louisiana, he has a Master of Divinity degree from New Orleans Baptist Seminary and a Ph.D. in rhetorical criticism from Louisiana State University. The author of 5 books and numerous articles, his primary passion in life is preaching the Gospel. His hobbies are reading and golf. He supports the LSU Tigers, The Ohio State Buckeyes, the Dayton Flyers, and the Wright State Raiders. In addition, he is a big Cincinnati Reds fan. He often says, «The only two subjects that matter in life are God and baseball.» He teaches at the University of Dayton Lifelong Learning Institute and the United Theological Seminary. Under his leadership First Baptist Church takes seriously the Scripture and seeks to live according to its teachings. The church has a strong commitment to missions, to community, and to biblical justice.
